Bien Shur - Sandia Resort and Casino
We visited there based on the lovely pictures of the view from Bien Shur that had been posted online, as well as the interesting menu. We were more than a little put off by the long walk through the very smoky casino to get to the elevator to the restaurant. The restaurant and the view from the windows looking out at the mountains was as nice as we had seen online, and the menu was interesting- if pretty pricey. We ordered the steak and lobster, but the steak was way undercooked and the lobster was covered by a thick sauce that disguised the delicate taste of the lobster. They also forgot to bring us the potatoes which were supposed to be included, until we got the steak back that had to be recooked. The dessert- cherry and lemon verrine- was pretty and tasty, and helped end the meal on a nice note, but then we had to go out through that horrible cigarette smoke again, and we left with a real sense of distaste and little desire to return.
A very unique (Delicious) gazpacho and the preserved lemon roast chicken, perfectly cooked.
I came here for my birthday after hearing great things from friends, I will be back for sure!
We had made a reservation and I am glad we did, they were packed for a concert but seated us within a few minutes of arriving.
Chef Sean and his kitchen make some amazing food! They are happy to accommodate special requests. Rib-eye and Duck were cooked to perfection and the creme brulee was amazing!
The wait staff was attentive and friendly.
The view outside was beautiful- go around sunset for the perfect romantic meal.
Thank you for the special evening.
Great food! Great service! If you’re going for a special or intimate occasion (we were there for our anniversary) I would recommend asking to sit in the restaurant area away from the bar. We were technically in the restaurant area but close to the bar and it was noisy and people kept coming in to see the view and you could hear the people from the bar area but overall I would highly recommend this restaurant!!!!
I ordered the chicken, the first breast was tender and tasty the second breast was tough and hard to chew. Rice undercooked and veggies rubbery. My fiance had the prime rib he asked it to be made Medium well it came out pink in the middle which was fine yet it was still rubbery! WASTE OF $32. Mine was 26 and the majority of the meal was uneaten.
Always top drawer in all departments. Bien Shur may very well be the best in ABQ.
Very creative, well presented, and tasteful meals. Great service staff. Incredible views. Prices reasonable for meals proferred.
Wonderful ! We were seated with a mountain view and it was spectacular, the mountains went pink as the sun set, a perfect NM evening!
I apologize, but I will not get our servers name correct, but she was from Poland😊 and could not have been better, from our first meeting to our surprise dessert, she was fantastic!!! Thank you!!
Food was delicious, view was incredible, staff was excellent!
When I go out with friends for dinner, I hope first for great service where the server doesn't interrupt or isn't rude, excellent food, and a good selection of liquor. This had all three plus a beautiful view. My wife and I were dining with a couple that we had not seen in a while and ended up having a wonderful time as we sat and talked for four hours! We were never rushed or made to feel like we had to free up the table. The food was exquisite and they had several types of gin (my way of judging the quality of the bar). The server was very polite and knowledgeable of the menu. While this meal was pricey, it was worth the cost and I would definitely go there again. I would add that I never write reviews like this, but I'm so happy with the experience that I couldn't help myself.
As advertised - the views of the Sandia mountains and golf course are spectacular. The service was absolutely terrible! We waited almost ONE hour for our food to finally arrive - which was delivered by the manager himself. We had ordered two of the specials for the evening - Prime rib and fillet, both served with mashed potatoes and a veggie. My steak arrived over-cooked and I would have sent it back, but we did not want to wait any longer. We were given a $30 voucher for compensation, which we do plan to use in the future to see if service has improved.
We went on a Sunday night, a night the restaurant is not normally open but had made a special effort for a Franki Valli concert. I appreciated the call from a young man who said there would only be two menu items. At the time of reservation and during the call, I mentioned it was a special birthday celebration-there was no recognition of that during our meal. Ordered beet salad-disappointing hard purple potatoes were substituted for the beets. Filet Mignon came perfectly cooked and flavorful, but cold. It was served with a frozen patty of herb butter on the top. Garlic mashed potatoes were day old, dry and cold. Sommelier was fun and friendly, other wait staff was indifferent to harried. Overall, it was an expensive night that could have been exceptional but turned out just "meh".
I took my Mother to eat for her 60th birthday. It was myself, my two teenage daughters and my Mother. I ordered the pork shnitzel, daughters got the ratatouille and seafood etouffe, and my Mother wanted to the NY Strip but they sold out so she got the filet mignon. My food was horrendous. A big flat piece of pork, breaded with mashed potatoes on top and under it. It was bland and dry. The ratatouille was rubbery and not very tasty. The etouffe was too spicy and the crawfish were over-cooked. Our server kept mentioning that they had a surprise for the birthday girl. After dinner she brought the dessert menu and handed it to my mom to look over. My mom stated she didn't want a dessert but our server said again we are doing something special for you and insisted she pick a dessert which all of us assumed that was the surprise a free dessert. So my Mom told her since its on you go ahead and pick for me. Our sever said oh no its not on us. And she brought me mom a little jar with salt in it as her surprise. Really? okay. So all in all a $200 birthday dinner the food was not good, and I was not happy about the whole birthday surprise bs.
Celebrated my wife's birthday with some friends. Very good food and service. The only downside was a table of ~30 people celebrating a birthday got a little loud. The overall experiance was great.
We were greeted and seated promptly as well as offered a table with either a city or mountain view. We chose the city view which is probably a better option later in the evening (for the city lights), however it was still very nice to watch the sunset. Also, there was a table of about 20 loud, corpulent, crass women seated about half an hour after we were on the mountain-view side which made us grateful we made the choice we did (not that it made that much of a difference as one could hear these boors all over). My companion and I dressed for dinner, but it seems they'll seat men without a coat and tie and heavy-set women with too-tight jeans; as an fyi. Our server was a friendly young woman, but clearly not well-trained as she needed to return to the kitchen to ask what was on the chef's charcuterie board (which was good) we ordered as our appetizer. Also, the restaurant manager came by our table twice; once, to ask how our entrees were, and the second time to act as an "expediter" to serve us our dessert. Both times he referred to us as "guys". A bit too casual/familiar for our tastes. We were provided with complimentary bread and butter (focaccia and a red chile swirled bread) including some infused olive oils. A nice touch. My companion had the roast chicken and I had one of the chef's specials, a sea bass and crawfish etouffee. The chicken was good, served with grilled bok-choy and what we believed to be a green chile risotto. I added shrimp to my etouffee at our server's prompting and for $11.00 received 3 shrimp. No value there. The dish overall was good with three generous pieces of grilled sea bass (though just slightly overcooked) and three crawfish in the shell. For dessert we shared an enormous slice of cake. Long story short, we would return, in more casual attire and better-prepared for mediocre, as well as rather slow service and resort pricing. Dinner for two with shared appetizer, dessert and three cocktails was $140.00 w/tax before tip.
Best views in the city! All of our dishes were well executed American classics with tasteful and unique New Mexican twists. We’ll be back!
I don’t understand why they seat you in that outer balcony area when the full dining room is available. The waitress had a table in the bar in addition to ours and would walk right past us, so we felt fairly abandoned. We waited and waited for our check. Added 45 minutes to the meal time. Guess we will stick with the council room. Overall hoping for a nice dinner but the lack of service ruined it.
Love the Easter buffet at Sandia. Great cross section of food including made to order omelette and pancake bar as well as crab/sushi/seafood options, salad and fruit. Really too many choices to list. Desserts include chocolate fountain and a candy table with small bag to fill up on your way out. Sunny and bright with expansive views. Live music was fantastic- classy and not too loud. I have been before and will go again if I can get a reservation!
At 55.00 a person I expected better food but it was just a large buffet. Cold food lousy service...won’t do it again I should have cooked!
My wife and I have had two brunches at this restaurant including Xmas Day 2018 and Easter 2019. We felt the Easter Brunch to be less appealing, including the house coffee that as served. The cost was equal for both brunches.
1) The food is not as good as last year.
2) We did not get window table even we made reservation 2 and 1/2 weeks before 4/21.
3) At this point I don't think that we are going to recommend our friend to come to try. The quality of the food need to be improved.
Service was good. A bit slow. I ordered a filet mignon, medium.
It was raw. They even cut in half as I was sharing with my wife. The cook should have noticed it was raw. We have been there before twice. Both times we excellent. This time a bit disappointing...
Would I go again? Yes...
Lovely restaurant with a gorgeous view.
The views were spectacular of the golf course and mountains from our table. Food was good not great. My wife ordered medium well done and was less than medium when served. Some gristile in the meat so wasn't really tender as expected. Next time we will try the lounge with lower priced options available.
Great place to have a great meal with a great view. Service was outstanding, very attentive.
The service was lacking. The waitress had little to no knowledge of food items being gluten-free our not. Also, we had to ask to see the dessert menu, after waiting a prolonged time after finishing our main course.
The food and ambiance were very good. I would recommend it (the restaurant) with caution.
Beautiful view if seated near a window which we were. Our food was delicious and the waitress was just lovely. Her name was IVY—great service!
Every thing was fine except we had the bad luck of sitting between two noisy tables. The manager appears to have known the people at one table. He talked to them but either didn't realize how loud they were or was afraid of getting them upset by asking them to quiet down.
We had a great dinner.
Our waiter and chef made us a great vegan option.
We usually just have it eat off the side menu. Stayed and listened to the bands first set at the lounge.
Second time dining there. Looking forward to the next time
Great food for value with best view in town. Hit a Home Run with entertainment, "In The Moment"
The waitress and chef were most accommodating.
We felt so special and will return.
Excellent food and service, as usual.
Variation in menu is sometimes good, sometimes bad.
As exposed ceiling on balcony is aesthetically pleasing, when the wind blows, the shafts rattle quite a bit.
Great place , to eat and have a romantic dinner. First time for us and it was nice to try something different
My husband and I came for our anniversary and we were welcomed and treated politely. Our server was kind, but didn’t make any recommendations and seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. We had the mussels (delicious), beet salad (meh....never had a cold potato on a salad before), and buffalo ribeye (well cooked and seasoned). In all it was a very nice dinner.
Yes, Bien Shur is one of the best restaurant in New Mexico. I recommend others to go and have a good experience.
Had a great time we had 7:30pm reservations but the Maitre'd allowed us to sit a bit earlier, which was great for the views. Enjoyed a terrific dinner ! Natalia was a terrific server. The nachos were great too. We had the prime rib was was also very good ! All 'n all a very nice evening !
Food was meh; the bread was the best part of the meal. Service was inattentive. Amazing location.
Amazing food, great service and a spectacular view!!
Amazing!! Fantastic dinner and superb atmosphere
