Bien Shur - Sandia Resort and Casino
The service was horrible! They were not organized and told us that we would be seated 30 mins after our reservation. Even though we arrived 20 mins early. Very disorganized!!!!
We had a very lovely dinner and were not rushed or pressured to hurry. The service was prompt but not in your face. The views of the mountain and golf course were another added attraction. The evening was a success.
This was the most disappointing experience I have ever had at a fine dining restaurant. Our waitress, Janelle, rushed us through the entire meal and became visibly irritated when we decided to go slower than she wanted (i.e. finish our bottle of wine before ordering dessert). My boyfriend’s steak was drastically undercooked and he politely sent it back. She was annoyed by this as well. The most upsetting incident was regarding my entree. When choosing an entree I asked her “I’m deciding between the buffalo short ribs and the duck, which would you recommend?”. She said the short ribs were better so I ordered those. When she brought our entrees out, she set a plate of white meat in front of me. I asked her, “Are you sure those are the short ribs? It doesn’t look like what I ordered”. She assured me that it was the buffalo and walked away. I took a bite and immediately knew it was pork. Since Janelle never came back to check on how everything was, I got up and walked to the host stand to ask to speak with a manager. The manager came over to our table and I tried to explain the incident. He interrupted me and never let me fully explain what happened. He agreed to get me the entree that I ordered and said he would fix things. However, he never confronted Janelle to let her know that she had made a mistake so when Janelle saw them replace my entree she became upset. It put my boyfriend and I in a very uncomfortable position and honestly, after waiting more than 20 minutes for the new entree, I wasn’t hungry. The manager said dessert would be on the house for the inconvenience which was very nice. However, on my reservation I specifically said we were celebrating a birthday and clarified that with the host upon arrival. Nothing was ever mentioned about the birthday and after everything that had gone wrong, we just wanted to leave. We ended up paying over $250 for an extremely underwhelming meal with awful service. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant.
The food is always excellent, and our most recent server was Joseph -- he was extremely friendly, attentive and prompt, which we really appreciated on a busy concert/balloon fiesta night -- thank you, Joseph!

Very nice meal with excellent service
Good was excellent!!
Food was great. Celebrated husband’s birthday with family from Colorado. Disappointed birthday person was offered free desert. View was breathtaking and waitress was great.
Our server, Joseph was an absolute gem. Very attentive and very knowledgeable. He made great recommendations. Cocktails were very good. I had the buffalo and my wife had the chicken. Both meals were excellent. I would definitely go back.
View and ambience were wonderful. Service was excellent. Drinks and appetizers in the bar were average. We went especially for a good prime rib dinner and were very disappointed. The meat had no flavor. Vegetables were unidentifiable and over cooked. Probably the worst prime rib I have ever been served. Desert and coffee were the highlight of the meal. It is a shame that a beautiful restaurant and excellent service were spoiled by an overpriced and very average meal.
My advice, forget dinner and just enjoy the view with a cup of coffee and desert. You will save $100.00 and not be disappointed.
Waiter did a phenomenal job. Our anniversary was great
We had read reviews of average food but went anyway for the view. We were surprised to find the food wonderful. We had the filet mignon skewers, the wedge salad, buffalo spare ribs, duck and lamb shank. The duck portion was a little small but everything else was healthy portions and delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. We had someone with an allergy and they were thorough in making sure his food was safe. We would definitely return.
Our steak was very good, as were our mussels. However, almost all of the sides were inedible salty. The music in the dining area was a bit loud. Very good service, absolutely spectacular view.
Four people in our party. Two had filets and said it was the best steak they had had in a very long time; tender and cooked perfect. One person had the sea bass and loved it. One person had the chicken and it was wonderful; so tasty and tender.
It was my husbands birthday dinner and he loved it! The dinner and desert were great! The server was excellent. We had a window table as requested which made it even better.
A fine restaurant for special occasions, with great views, attentive service, and a sophisticated menu.
Wonderful meal with gorgeous views. Recommend that you ask server for details on all items as there were some unexpected presentations.
Spectacular setting, and excellent food though some choices were a bit complicated in food combinations and difficult to eat constructions. Something was a bit off with our service but hard to describe. Maybe a bit too intrusive. Not as relaxed as on previous visits.
Second time around you would think they get it right not even close!!!! My filet mignon was raw twice and supposed to be medium rare!!! Jennifer m waitress was the worst ever!!!! Will never go back!!! Will never recommend to any my friends!!! MARIA M!!!!
Best for private family celebrations! Quiet, reflective atmosphere. Great views and deep thoughts.
We have been to Bien Shur before and had friends visiting from out of town so wanted to take them to a nice restaurant with a beautiful view....there are lots of nice tables with views at this restaurant but we were seated at a table in the very corner of the restaurant ....and not every seat aet ouer table had much of a view....disappointing. The meat and vegetables were served all on one plate on top of each other...I would have preferred my filet not to be sitting on top of mashed potatoes.
Even though I like this restaurant for the ambiance and views I'm not sure we will eat there again in the future.
It had been a while since we had dined at Bien Shur, but it didn’t disappoint. We both had the beet salad to start. Nicely done. We split a NY Strip and it was perfect. Service was attentive and took care of us very well. The views are always awesome from both sides of the main dining room.
Everything was great except the background music was a little loud and somewhat distracting.
The food was great, the drinks were great. Service was excellent. Overall a great experience, will definitely return again.
Beautiful setting and the best views in the city but the food is FAIR. One would expect the food to be exceptional especially for the cost of the meals. The pan seared scallops were decent and my mom said the duck was tasty. The prime rib, rack of lamb, gazpacho soup- meh. No dessert ordered but the coffee was presented nicely. A disappointing meal. The restaurant’s banking on people to be awed by the views, not the food.
Pricey but worth it. Really well-prepared food and the views are amazing.
The table was ready when we arrived, the wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The view was superb. We had a delightful evening.
Everything was beautiful and perfect and delicious!!!’ Thank you
We enjoyed our anniversary at Sandia Casino and had a we had a great meal at Bien-Shur. We both had the filet mignon and shared a bottle of wine, we had a great time. The server also was very nice and attentive.
They were not ready for our reservation when we arrived, but accommodated us in to short a time. Perhaps some poor planning of walk ins vs reservations? Server and food were excellent. View beautiful.
We requested a table with a view, confirmed with a phone call-we had to wait 30 minutes for the table.
Staff shortage resulted in 30 minute wait for drinks.
Order included salads, they were brought out with the entrees. Part of order was missing, part was incorrect.
Managers subbed as servers. Server told us they were understaffed.
Bill was adjusted but evening was not special.
We love this restaurant and have been a number of times.
We’ll go back, hopefully this recent visit was an anomaly
This was our third time there with dinner reservations made WELL in advance of a Sandia show for which we had tickets. On every occasion, there did not seem to be enough staff to cover the crowd and/or our dinner order seemed to have gotten somehow lost and/or delayed! The food was delicious but, unfortunately, we did not have enough time to enjoy it before the show—we really did not appreciate having to eat our meal so quickly in order to get to the show on time, despite having a dinner reservation 2 hours prior to the show time. If you expect people to spend $300+ on dinner, you need to remedy this situation.
Shown to our table. Sat for almost twenty minutes without a server. Hailed a nearby server and asked her to tell whoever had this table that we were waiting. She left and came back saying that we were seated without being assigned a server. She apologized and took our order. After that, the service and meal were fine. Although the wine was a bit over priced.
Food was average. The service was not good. The excuse was that they had several people quit the previous day. Too bad, it's a lovely setting and very convenient if you're going to a concert. Won't be going back
Enjoyable evening, dinners were prepared well, service and wine recommendations was best part. Several other fine dining establishments have had slightly better prepared meals (Indigo crow, Corn Maiden, Prairie Star).
Had a great experience at Bien Shur - food, service, and view of the Sandia mountains all exceeded expectations. Unique dessert menu completed a nice evening.
The view was great and did get ya seated earlier than our reservation. Service was slow. Our waitress could never be found. Waited on our food for a bout an hour. When food came my prime rib was well done and was ordered medium rare to medium. Did not want to wait another 45min + for another plate to come. Didn’t even attempt to take it back and paid over $110 for 2 plates and 2 drinks. I was very disappointed.
The food was tasty but the entrees were extremely small portions, especially for the price. The waiter was on his schedule not ours, several times he would come to the table for unimportant reasons and interrupt interesting conversation, staying far too long chit-chatting, we were there to enjoy conversation with each other not the waiter. I have been here several times to dance to quality bands, this week the band was not quality.
Food and service were excellent. Will bring friends to enjoy the service.
Service was great! The view was beautiful, and the food was good.
