What a good value. The good was delicious and the server was attentive and so polite
Tasty dishes and great service! I've only been here for dinner, but really looking forward to trying their brunch.
Very friendly as usual and handy to the Portland Stage Theater.
This is a terrific restaurant. The ambiance is a bit eclectic and it is vary laid-back. The food was delicious and it's a very small place so not loud (it was also a wet and rainy night so it was not crowded at all). We thoroughly enjoyed it and we're there celebrating a birthday. When the waitstaff learned about the birthday, she brought our dessert with a candle included.
All the food was delicious. Try the eggs...seriously. They're amazing.
fabulous food, terrific service, great experience overall
This place is listed as one of Maines 10 best and it didn't disappoint . Get the Satanic Eggs!!
This is a great restaurant for brunch before the matinee at Portland Stage. We enjoyed our breakfasts there -- the hash was terrific. Strangely both the cocktail that I had (name escapes me, proseco and cherry juice) and the eggs Benedict looked a little ho-hum. But both tasted very very good. I'd suggest a tiny more effort on presentation. But yes, we will definitely go there again.
The food was excellent. I had the Brick Chicken over Paramesan Mashed - fantastic. The chicken just fell off the bone, no effort, so tasty. I would definately eat here again.
I so enjoy my brunches before ushering at Portland Stage. They make reservations easy and Andrea always greets and welcomes customers. It is a most pleasant dining experience.
Apple fritters were good. Service was poor. Felt like we were a burden to the waiter. Did not feel welcomed. Asked waiter about a drink on the menu and his response was, "I have no idea". Waiter slammed plate, coffee, etc. down on the table. Just a very uncomfortable feeling.
We enjoy non-chain restaurants when we travel. Bibo's is quaint in the downtown area. While parking can be difficult there is a public lot nearby. My partner had roasted brussel sprouts for an appetizer which he still raves about. My salad was also excellent. Main courses were generous and well prepared. For desert you must try the dark chocolate pot de creme, absolutely delicious. Prices are more than reasonable. Service was also excellent. All in all a good choice.
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. The food was delicious and rich. The atmosphere was quiet and respectful. The decor and menu were quirky and 70's inspired. Would love to go back again.
This is truly a hidden gem. The flavors and variety were phenomenal - we highly recommend it!
Had a hard time getting a reservation for times around 7pm, so we went early at 6pm. By 7pm the place was only half-full! The food was only average "farm to table" but the menu really didn't explain the sources of the food. Roasted Brussels sprouts for an app were burned and the serving has huge! My fish dish (Haddock) had a bland broth. I cant even remember what my wife ordered. A disappointing evening that we had hoped would be special.
Great food at good prices. Wish the experience with open table had been as good. It was a miserable experience trying to change our reservation from 2 to 4 people. I finally had to call the restaurant.
Fabulous food! Danny was friendly and welcoming and informative about menu. Hope he is there next time!
We always eat lunch here before attending the Matineee at Portland Stage Theater. Good food; excellent, caring service.
We dined at Bibo's Madd Apple Cafe before attending a theatre production. The food was fabulous, the service was friendly and efficient and the price was very reasonable for the quality received.
We go here for brunch all the time! Bibo's never fails with fun and inventive benedicts (get the crispy brussel sprouts/bacon/goat cheese one!). Definitely a favorite. It's tucked away rather anonymously on Forest Ave right beneath Congress Street, so it's a pretty great location and easy to get to from downtown and the Old Port.
Great meal - flawless! And we had great service. Portland has so many options but so happy we chose this place.
The food at Bibo's was absolutely fantastic!! 3 of us had Chicken under a brick as recommended by another diner. The chicken was so flavorful and moist and literally fell off the bone. The Parmesan mashed potatoes were yummy and even the asparagus was better than I had ever had. We felt like we found a real little gem of a restaurant. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food and service were excellent. Highly recommend.
This was the second time I had been to Bibo's for breakfast and it didn't disappoint. Brunch is great, with really unique breakfast options. Try the eggs benedict served on amazing homemade english muffins or if you have a sweet tooth, the Wonut (mix between a waffle and a donut) is decadent breakfast treat. The service is fantastic and the staff really friendly. The decor is a bit kitschy, but adds to the charm of the place. Overall, a wonderful dining experience.
This is definitely a go-to brunch spot in Portland and is one of the only places you can actually make a reservation!
Great place to go for dinner before attending Portland Stage Company. Excellent food, nice wine and comfortable atmosphere. It would be nice for a meal when wandering around Portland (Congress street art galleries and Art Museum) as well. Enjoy!
We often walk past this restaurant going to and from the Portland Stage, but knew nothing about it except that it looked cozy. Finally tried it, and we were very pleased with the food, the wine, the ambience and the very nice server, Amy. Will definitely return to enjoy more items on the creative menu. What we ordered (falafel app, pasta, haddock and pot de creme) was delicious.
Had a wonderful brunch at Bibo's last sunday. Love that they take reservations for brunch. Food was excellent as was the service. Love the small intimate venue. Will definately be back. My fav in Portland.
This cozy, quiet restaurant was about half full at 6 pm on a recent Saturday night. Service was prompt and courteous but unfortunately the food was undistinguished. The tasty bread was served with oil olive and a rather dull accompaniment of mixed spices and nuts (dukka). The Crispy Brussel Sprouts starter turned out to be a very large portion of deep-fried sprouts with a dipping sauce that wasn't spicy as advertised but rather tasted like tartar sauce without the pickles. And the main course pan roasted haddock was lost on top of mashed cauliflower, topped with sauteed corn and tomato. I couldn't tell the fish from the mash below. Too bad about the food, because the atmosphere is great and it's so convenient for the theater.
I have enjoying dining at Madd Apple 3 times and each one has been delicious, delightful
and wonderfully served. It's great to be able to park once and dine and enjoy Portland Stage productions in one fell swoop! Excellent waiter ..... efficient and friendly. Twice I ordered the haddock and it was superb...perfectly cooked. Highly recommended.
Have had dinner here a few times. The food is great, charming atmoshpere and the wait staff very helpful and friendly. The only disappointment was the amount of wine per glass. Seemed a bit conservative both times we visited and one of those times another patron said something about it. I tend to keep my mouth shut about these things as it isn't going to stop me from returning, but it just strikes me odd that some restaurants are generous with their pourings and others the opposite. But a great evening none the less and love that it is right next to the theater! Good job Bibo's!
When we go to Portland, we try to go to Bibo's. Our fave in the Portland area. EVERYTHING is great. Entrees, apps, wine, dessert. Big flavors, and still letting each ingredient state its flavor.
