Wonderful salad, ravioli, lasagna and zabliogne and lemon mouse dessert were exceptional. Had lunch there yesterday with my mom. Lots of food but yummy!! Excellent service too!
At first I was disappointed because they had just changed the seasonal menu and my favorite item was gone. Our server was wonderful and suggested an alternative that was delicious! I now have a new favorite!
Ask for a table in the main dining room. Our last visit, we were seated in the bar. Definitely draftier on a rainy night, and noisier. The lasagna was amazing! Right up there with the very best we tasted in Italy.
We arrived timely for our reservations and were seated immediately. Then, we sat there for almost 15 minutes without any service beyond our water! We even talked about getting up and leaving when the woman who seated us walked by so I got her attention and told her that we had not even seen our server! After that our server literally ran to our table and apologized and everything was fine. He never saw us being seated and was working in the other room. The wine was fine and each of our pasta dish was exceptional! We didn't have time for dessert as we had a show to catch.
Fabulous food. Prepared to perfection. I will be going again very soon. The fish was very fresh and the pasta perfectly al dente. The strawberry lemon drops were divine. The ambiance is subdued and easily allows conversation unlike many places these days. The service was also attentive and timely.
Celebrated our 15th Anniversary here. Our waiter was very friendly and informative on entree selections. Enjoyed a delicious cocktail to start off the evening, accompanied with bread (which we were unaware that they charge you for). We had the swordfish and braised veal which was delicious. Topped it off with their Zuccotto Fiorentino dessert and coffee. The evening was perfect, but wished we were acknowledged for our celebration. Was a bit disappointed considering the host informed our waiter. Overall it was a nice anniversary dinner.
I'm saying "no" as to recommending to a friend but that doesn't mean I'd recommend against going, just that I'm not going to go out of my way to recommend it. That's because it's an expensive restaurant and because compared with our prior visit (which was better and after which I probably would have recommended it) neither the food nor the service seemed special.
We really liked the beet salad, which had an interesting mix of flavors and was attractively presented. My husband's pasta was pretty good. I had the day's stuffed pasta. It sounded good but turned out to contain only a tiny amount of shrimp that could barely be tasted. The mushroom sauce with it tasted fine but didn't stand out from similar sauces I've had at a number of much less renowned (and much less expensive) restaurants.
Our server was technically competent but she treated us a little strangely and always seemed like she was in a hurry to leave our table. She also recommended the pasta dish that I wasn't impressed with over another on the menu that i was considering. As it was the daily special I wonder if she had even tried it.
Bottom line is that we've eaten at Biba twice. The first time was memorable and special. This time was not. We will give a different restaurant a try next time we want to eat at a restaurant in this price range.
Absolutely delicious!! Will definitely be back! The prawn ravioli’s with the fig and pine nut salad was outstanding, followed with the cheesecake which was the perfect way to end an incredible meal!
This is one of our favorite Sacramento restaurants. It has maintained its high quality throughout the years.
Biba is fine a place one the finest places to dine in Sacramento. Wonderful as always.
We always enjoy dining here, and the reason is, you dine. Nice piano in the bar area, considerate waitstaff and wonderful food, in an atmosphere in which you can actually hold a conversation. Biba is a gift to Sacramentans. In the times of new , hip " farm to fork" cacophonous restaurants, give me a fine dining experience like Biba's any day.
A lovely dining experience - but honestly over priced by 20% Very small portion Halibut, small portion veggies, for a whole lot of $$. Wonderful service - always there but never overt. A bit noise for what appears to be a quiet dinning room. But dinner for 2 was $180, no dessert, split appetizer, two entrees, and a few cocktails. Have been several times, no need to return with all the more balanced $$ choices in town.
Biba is the best restaurant in or near Sacramento. That does not take fifty words.
We had excellent service. Pleasant atmosphere. Food is superior to most in this price range. Good value overall.
Food was wonderful as usual. It was lasagna night so I think many were there for that special dish. However our table was not in the best position. We were seated next to a large very noisy party and we couldn't hear ourselves or the waitress. In the future I will request to be seated on the periphery of the room. For an Italian restaurant there was a small uninteresting offering of wines by the glass. We ordered a half bottle and we had to send it back because it was spoiled. The room is wonderful with its old style Sacramento charm, but the excess noise made for a somewhat frenetic dinner.
While the lasagna seemed somewhat less extraordinary than what I have experienced before, the experience, overall, was outstanding. This is a great restaurant for a great experience and all should experience it at least once. If I lived closer in or could afford it, I would be eating there at least once every week.
The lasagna just wasn't as tasty as I expected from a long established Italian restaurant
Have been to Biba’s many times and always great this night however not so good. Both first courses were good. We all ordered pasta. One diner pasta was cold sent back came back warm just not hot. Second diner pasta really dry, pancetta burnt not good. The third persons was fine. Service seemed a little rushed. I got the feeling the cook had gone home and they were trying to close up. I will go back this was not the norm. Our only compensation was a piece of cake.
Everything was awesome!
We have been coming to Biba's restaurant for over 30 years and have always made it a place for special occasions. We love Italian food and believe that their raviolis are the best we have ever tasted and they are made with many different fillings. The service has always been exceptional.
One of the most enjoyable dining experiences in a long time Food was fantastic, ambiance just right, service attentive. Just a great, great experience.
Old fashioned Italian dining room in near suburbs of Sacramento. Superb service from our server Regina, great food and ambience
Food was excellent but for the price I would expect the full experience to be much better.
Outstanding restaurant! And you can actually talk to the others in your party without shouting. I highly recommend it. But make sure you have a reservation, and don't forget to bring your own bottle.
The food was so good! Had a nice time. Service was excellent.
Biba is ALWAYS a treat!
My husband and I enjoyed an early dinner on a Friday night before a show at the B Street Theater. We had reservations and were seated right on time, our server was warm and friendly yet professional; we were very impressed with her kind demeanor towards a very elderly patron who required a few menu modifications and extra time making choices. Our meal was delicious, beautifully plated and the portions were just the right size. This is a great, classic spot in Sacramento for a quality dining experience.
Biba is one of our favorite restaurants. The staff and service is always wonderful and, of course, the food is outstanding.
Very good food and service. Loved the breadsticks!
Still, as always, one of Sacramento's best dining experiences. This time my dining companion was gluten-free, and I was pleased to find that they had a gluten-free pasta option to offer him.
As an appetizer, I had the sautéed sweetbreads with pancetta, sunchokes, and a white wine reduction, which were delicious; however, this was served with a huge chunk of fried polenta, which I thought was very much a distraction. My dining guest had mozzarella with prosciutto di Parma (“parma di procuitto” on the web version of the menu), which were both very good, but also not a great combination.
My entree was baked rigatoni with an octopus ragù, smoked mozzarella and Grana Padano; this turned out to be a dish that was extremely rich and again a rather unsuccessful combination of ingredients. My guest's entree was the daily pasta, which was a very bland chicken ravioli, not up to the usual Biba standard.
I have been to Biba’s restaurant many times, and only the last two visits have been disappointing. There seems to be a lack of harmony and attention to detail recently that I have not experienced before. Biba’s, for me, epitomized light, sophisticated northern Italian cooking and I wish it would return to its original excellence.
Wonderful ambiance and service. The gnocchi were as light as you could imagine. The wine list is terrific.
All was good. The noise level was very high but our waitress moved us to the entry lounge area, which was much more quiet. My customer was very disappointed that there was no lasagna available on Tuesday night.
Lunch was delicious and our waitress was great!
Our favorite restaurant in Sacramento!!!
A very comfortable place to dine - the food and the service are always awesome! A treat!
Biba's is always a great meal. When I was working in Sacramento years ago I used to go there for business lunch all the time. Biba would come out and walk around the dining room and talk to her patrons. I think she also had a lot to do with the quality control of the food. It was all delicious.
Fast Forward 20 years and it is still good and the place looks the same as it did years ago. The food is still as good as I remember. I had Swordfish and it was seasoned to perfection. I could have eaten twice as much as was served as the portion was only about 5-6 ounces at most and it seemed spendy. The Tiramisu there has always been my benchmark and no one comes close. It is still the best.
Good food and good experience close to B st theatre
Our server, Jeannine, and her support staff were awesome.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Anniversary lunch. Our waiter’s knowledge of the preparation was outstanding. As a enthusiast home cook and my Italian decent made the day extra special. 🥰
Gigi was great snd chef Daniel remarkable been going here since 1986 and the food gets better bravo Biba
