Never disappointed. The standards are high for all dishes. The atmosphere is casual elegance, and the staff are professional and personable. Plus, you very well might be able to meet Biba sitting at the bar.

The food is delicious, service is professional but not stuffy, entire staff is friendly and helpful. And as a plus, it is always lovely when Biba strolls through the room!

We booked a table for 11:45 on Valentine's Day, arrived at 11:40 and were seated immediately. The service was excellent after a somewhat leisurely beginning. This is nice restaurant with elegant furnishings, not a place for a quick lunch. The four of us had liver, salmon and two pasta dishes. Everyone was pleased. My salmon was a fixed price meal: salmon or seabass plus salad or soup for $18. The soup was tomato clam; I'd never had that before and it was very good.

We had a fabulous Valentines Day lunch. I had the best beet salad ever for a starter. It had both golden & red beets, arugula, pistachios, pomegranate seeds, and burrata with a wonderful vinaigrette. My Spaghetti Carbonara was outstanding, as was my husband’s seafood linguine with saffron sauce. He said there was a piece of seafood (bay scallop, shrimp, clam, mussel) in every single bite. All this paired with a Rombauer Chardonnay - who could ask for more? We did! A scrumptious lemon tart with blood orange sauce to share for dessert. Thank you, Biba, for all the years of fantastic meals in such an inviting and beautiful setting.

We have always enjoyed Biba as our first choice for downtown dining. The hardest part is making a choice of what to order. It is definitely the type of place one goes to for special occasions.

We had a very nice time at the restaurant, the service was very good, food was excellent and unusual for the US. The tiramisu was amazing!
Minors: the restaurant is noisy probably due to high ceiling and for a restaurant like this I would definitely expect free parking...

Our meals were excellent. I had the skirt steak special and a tomato onion soup. The soup was very fresh a like chunky and by far the best soup I have ever had I could make the soup my entire meal. The gnocchi was also excellent.
The service was not expressive. We mentioned we were celebrating a birthday. The waitress said it was also her birthday. She did not seem happy to be working and it put a damper on our meal. We ordered a cocktail that was very good. It was like a greyhound with another ingredient that I can’t recall. It was very fresh. The only thing was that one of the ice cubes had a piece of a label in it and half ended up in the drink. Not appealing. When we showed the waitress she agreed and then turned it into a joke with the dinners across from us that sad she must gave gotten the label in the drink when she made the drink for the other dinners. I would have thought a replacement drink would be provided.
About 20 minutes after we finished our soup the waitress brought another soup this time with a large block of cheese that was not offered the first time. I felt annoyed that I missed out on freshly grated cheese with my soup. It was another 30 minutes before our meal arrived. I wasn’t in a hurry but the timing was off because of the mistake with the double soup. This restaurant always has great reviews for years so my experience was a let down. I think it was likely an off night for the server.

What a welcomed surprise. It's small and cozy but lively. The staff were very prompt and attentive. Extra love to the valets, they were full of smiles.

Best Calamari fritters EVER. Hard dish to get right, without it getting cold and rubbery before it gets to the table. But no worries here, it was hot and very yummy until the last bite. Plus my fettuccine with scallops, clams, shrimp and mussle melted in my mouth. Picture attached.

If your looking for tasty food and great service, try Biba.

Like visiting an old friend, you always look forward to dinner at Biba’s and are never disappointed. I was sad that my favorite dish, oso bucco wasn’t on the menu, but the skirt steak special more than made up for it.

Two of our party had the gnocchi special and were delighted. Our fourth member had the veal scaloppini and almost ordered a second one, it was that good

Maybe the best special occasion restaurant in Sacramento or maybe just the best period.

Biba has a light, open, artistic ambience. Housed in an old building, big windows, shutters and large canvasses set a casually elegant tone. The dinner is farm fresh. Salads are unusual and fresh. The homemade pasta is delicate and not overly sauced. My husband and I split a small green salad with sliced pears and Gorgonzola, a tart beet salad, a plate of lasagna with a Bolognese sauce and a plate of half gnocchi and half eggplant ravioli in buttery goodness. Wine list superb—tried a Tempranillo from Winters that was divine and very reasonably priced. Dessert: an olive oil cake with homemade ice cream on a disk of blood orange. Slow, easy service that encourages relaxed dining. I can’t say enough to highlight this elegant yet comforting restaurant. We will be back.
