Gigi and the raviolis ROCK!!!!!!
Go on a Thursday or Friday and get the lasagna, which is only served on those days, as it is amazing. Otherwise, decent food. Interior decor is in bad need of updating. Service was very attentive and accomodating.
Disappointed in the lasagna for the first time in the lasagna. Not much flavor and dry. Waitress did not offer parmesan cheese at the table for any pastas.
We were very disappointed in the portion size of our meals. My husband got about six raviolis and if you wanted salad and/or bread, you have to pay extra. I had the gnocchi. The sauces on both meals were good, but hardly any meat. We also had the calamari appetizer. Just ok. For a $80 dinner, we didn't feel we got our money's worth at all. We were hungry an hour later. We don't plan on going back.
Food was fine; formal and quiet, good for conversation. But greatly overpriced for the quality.
Having enjoyed Trips to Italy, Biba is very authentic!
Excellent meal with impeccable service by Jorge ("Jorgie") as usual. The only thing we recommend the chef consider is toning down the acidity/sourness in the cream of celery root soup. It tasted like it had too much lemon juice in it. Nevertheless, it was very good but somewhat tough to finish and since it was the only food item we both had we believe it contributed each of us being becoming majorly bloated just after we finished dinner. Maybe it was the level of acid in the soup?
Biba's has been reliably consistent over the years. Wonderfully executed regional Italian dishes often using fresh local ingredients. Never disappoints.
Amazing service and food. No where better than Biba’s
Went just to try the 10 layer lasagna that Sacramento Magazine rated as one of the top 10 things to try before you die. It did not disappoint and was worth the wait for a Thursday or Friday night (which are the only nights the lasagna is available).
Biba was exceptional as usual, food was delicious (I had the pappadelle), service was professional. We were able to sit and chat and enjoy our meal. All in all a lovely meal.
First time here and will be back!
Biba is a long time favorite and we try and come at least once each trip to Sacramento. Consistently great in all aspects of food, wine, service and ambiance.
We recently relocated to Sacramento and have been taking advantage of the great restaurants in the city. We discovered this restaurant in sactown magazine. The story behind the owner was very intriguing. Her love of food and all the culinary recognition she has received meant that we had to try it.
There is nothing more to say than if you want to have a wonderful dining experience with superb service and food that tastes like it just came from the garden it is a MUST for foodies.
We will definitely be frequenting Biba!
I took my 2 year old daughter & Grandmother for her 82nd birthday.
They didn't have a high chair for my daughter. This is the 1st restaurant I've ever been to that could not accommodate a child. I was given a weird chair from another room and a buster seat. My daughter almost fell off 2 times and kept trying to jump off.. I also told them it was my grandmothers birthday (2 times) and she was given no special treatment. No song, no desert... Our waitress was very nice but seemed absent at times. My grandmothers pasta was amazing but they put a DISGUSTING cube of green cheese sauce on my steak, ruining my ribeye. I scrapped it off but the flavor was so strong it was hard to shake. We ordered 2 deserts.. Both average, nothing to write home about... I felt uncomfortable most of the dinner... As a fellow Italian business owner in this city I expected BIBA to have more of a "family feeling". That is the Italian culture "family".. Its not just food & business.. They had a piano player in the bar, that was cool... IF I CAME BACK, it would be to go to the bar.. I don't think i would get a table or order food...
Celebrating selling my home
Biba and staff always makes us feel like family. We always have a special experience.
Rib eye steak was outstanding, but maybe a bit pricey. Every thing else was delicious and decent value. Service was superb. One of our favorite spots for special occasions.
Everything was delightful from food to ambiance to service. We’ll be going here again!!
We had an excellent business lunch, with each of the three of us enjoying our meals. The setting is quite polished, the service excellent. It likely would be a good setting for dinner as well, although we were there simply on a business trip.
It's been a few years since we dined at Biba, and the old standard is still among the best -- if not THE best -- establishment in Sacramento County. The service is polished and professional, the food was fantastic and the ambiance is soothing and old school. Maybe this isn't the hip spot anymore, but it's the best Italian food in the region. And the prices are super affordable. Topping it off, you have an owner -- Biba -- who is on site and willing to step up for a customer. My daughter was celebrating her 22nd birthday there with us, and wanted to salmon special. Unfortunately it had sold out. But our waiter could tell the disappointment on Grace's face, and piped up, "Let me see if I can find another piece or see if Biba doesn't mind giving up the fillet set aside for her." Sure enough, he returned to report that Biba was happy to give up her salmon to help make Grace's birthday dinner super special. You just won't find that in most restaurants these days. I can't recommend Biba highly enough.
Biba restaurant is a classic. If you want to enjoy a wonderful dinner occasion, Biba is the restaurant for you -- delicious food, wonderful wait staff, and delightful atmosphere. Biba has been consistent for years. A real gem in the dining scene in Sacramento.
The short version is the food and service were superb.
Enjoyed Friday lunch with wife, to order Biba's special lasagna.
My date and I had a wonderful experience. We met Biba, had great cocktails and were seated right at our reservation time. Our waiter made great suggestions, including a great Pinot Noir, and the special ravioli as an appetizer. This restaurant is not to be missed if you are going to be in Sacramento!
Had dinner with my wife and parents before a play at the BStreet theater. My mother asked about the calves liver not being on the menu. The server said they serve it at lunch so she would ask the chef. The server returned saying it was no problem. Very nice. All of the meals were fantastic as always.
Great food, great service and an authentic Italian atmosphere. Doesn’t get better than this.
Biba is one of Sacramento's gems and love seeing Biba visit tables to connect with diners and make sure they are happy. Wish there were more restaurants like this in Sac. We truly treasure this special woman and her fabulous restaurant and staff!
Biba's never disappoints. The beet salad and sturgeon were especially notable, and the consistently excellent service by Marcus was appreciated by all.
Our meal and service were truly exceptional. Jeannine is both professional and warm, and extremely knowledgeable. The bean soup she recommended was savory and a warm antidote to the rainy winter weather, and the sea bass was light, cooked perfectly, and accompanied by wonderful seasonal vegetables. The atmosphere was relaxed and elegant, and the entire staff were attentive and friendly. It was a lovely evening.
Biba is always a treat - lovely service, a quiet and more traditional (not stuffy) dining room. Food is always of high quality, though in the recent past the menu has been a bit on the safe, conservative side. The current menu, however, has been subtly tweaked (beyond its usual seasonal change), and is excellent.
If you like old and traditional, this is your place.
Wonderful service and food as always.
Biba is a top tier restaurant. My friend and I dine there once a year, for a "good meal" as she says. Wonderful food, wine and service. It all makes for a perfect evening.
Biba Restaurant is, hands down, the finest restaurant in Sacramento. Pricey, yes, but worth every penny. The food is to die for and the service is top notch. I’ve been somewhat of a regular there since the 1990’s. I love that Biba herself walks the dining room floor almost every night, greeting her guests. Such a classy lady and beloved in Sacramento. I used to enjoy her show on TLC. You would sometimes see her as a guest on Martha Stewart’s shows as well. As Martha would say, “It’s a good thing!”
We were here for a birthday lunch. Service was attentive but not overdone. The wait staff knows the menu and wine list and is able to make recommendations. the appetizer portions are small but they are very accomodating in splitting a plate so everyone at the table has a taste. Entrees,-lasagna, sturgeon, and liver were all excellent.
The evening was very nice. The prices were high but expected. The slab of pig fat on the antipasto platter was not to my liking, so paying $20.00 for food I could not consume was bad.
Never disappointed. The standards are high for all dishes. The atmosphere is casual elegance, and the staff are professional and personable. Plus, you very well might be able to meet Biba sitting at the bar.
Our waiter was fantastic. Really made our birthday lunch!
The food is delicious, service is professional but not stuffy, entire staff is friendly and helpful. And as a plus, it is always lovely when Biba strolls through the room!
