We wanted a special restaurant for a birthday celebration while in town for a conference. This was the perfect choice as my husbands favorite food is Italian. Highly recommend this dining place.
For many years Biba's has been our "go to spot" for any occasion for a celebration. It is ALWAYS extra special & we are never disappointed. Whatever we order is beyond "yummy" and the service Is ALWAYS impeccable.
The food is outstanding, but the service is slow...but the wait is worth it! Go for the homemade pasta of any kind and you will be happy. To have the best experience, don't go to Biba if you are time-constrained. And note that the melt-in-your-mouth spinach lasagna is only offered on Thu-Fri.
Unfortunately Biba is no longer with us but her wonderful food continues at her namesake restaurant. Elegant with white table cloth covered tables and excellent service. Like fine dining used to be.
As always, Biba was outstanding. Such a lovely restaurant with great service, ambiance and amazing food.
Due to circumstances, I was dining solo and very early - 5:PM. Some fine dining restaurants semi-snub solo and/or early diners. But Biba was GREAT, from the valet, to the hostess, to the barman, to the waiter. Made me feel special. And as usual the food was wonderful.
My only complaint is that the portion size was too small for the price.
It’s always wonderful......except we missed seeing BiBi !!!!!!!!!
Went for the lasagna- not knowing it wasn’t served every day. We split a spaghetti carbonara which had too much cheese. Very heavy. Also, I make my own spaghetti noodles and yours didn’t taste all that fresh- like they had been made that day. Osso bucco very good- very lean and tender; tirimisu- which I also make at home- was better than mine and portion very generous. I don’t find polenta good at all in general- don’t care for blandness or texture so would ordinarily never order it- not sure it pared well with the lamb shank- I should of ordered mashed potatoes. Nice server- fun and pleasant- enthusiastic about the food so good job.
Biba remains much as it has been over the years. The food, service and ambiance are consistently very good. Hopefully the passing of Biba won’t change that. The restaurant is a wonderful part of her legacy.
We have had a great time every time at Biba's. Food is fantastic and our waiter "George" makes the visit so much more enjoyable. Highly recommend but get reservation first as will not get in as a walk in.
A wonderful afternoon for service as well as the delicious lunch!!!
Lovely place to spend memorable occasions!
Beautiful and heartwarming ambiance.
Always a wonderful meal. The flavors are incredible.
Great experience! The Lasagna and Halibut are amazing.
The perfect restaurant! Our out of town guest were impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the evening at Bibas!!!! Thank you for a superb evening! Everything was top notch! You never disappoint!
Lovely, as usual. I brought Biba a white rose that I left on her book table. Many thanks to Biba for all the years of making a very special place for our celebrations. Rest in peace, dear one.
It always an awesome experience. Incredible food and wonderful service. Doesn’t get any better.
We had a delicious dinner celebrating our wedding anniversary. The lasagna and veal Milanese were outstanding! We also loved the pecan bourbon tart. Yummy!!
Outstanding, as usual. Sad to be there without Biba and her smile.
Always an excellent experience, great menu so easy to have a great meal...A little noisy around our center table but seemed to quite later in the evening.
The food was very good and the service was also very good. Our only complaint.... we are both in wheelchairs and was seated in a literal corner table with mirrors in front of it. Just looking at a wall the whole night.
Yes, it is the perfect place to recommend for a special meal or just to enjoy the entire experience.
Great service - Jeanine was wonderful and knowledgeable. Food was fabulous.
Fantastic meal and service. Began cauliflower soup with truffle shavings was delicious and light. My lamb chops were cooked to perfection and served with a delicious small panzanella salad. My friend loved the carbonara, and the other special ordered gnocchi with a garlic/corn/tomato sauce, at the suggestion of the server. The server also recommended the lemon dessert, like cheesecake but super light and billowy. It was amazing. Everyone should treat themselves.
Biba's is a Sacramento institution that I never visited until now. The food was fabulous, the service was excellent, the place is gorgeous with a warm ambiance. I will go back.
My very favorite restaurant! I miss Biba's smiling face and warm reception but felt her presence.
Sad day. Meal great, service was not great, but, understandable. Surprise there was no recognition for a person who was having a birthday. Unless, the restaurant was ruined by Jehovah Witness. Sorry Beba died. She will be greatly missed.
You knew it was our 52nd Anniversary but didn't offer any recognition from the menu as small dessert, candle, glass of wine, appetizer tidbit, etc.
I expected more from what is known as one of Sacramento's best dining institutions. Out of the 3 courses we ordered, only the pasta dishes were on par with what we had expected. Appetizers and entrees were uninspired and relatively bland. With all of the newer high-end options in town packing greater flavor, I don't see myself coming back here again.
Arrived on time for our reservation, our table was not ready, then a party of 4 came after us and were promptly seated before us and a very scruffy couple were also seated after us. We felt very unwelcome.
After being seated it took over 15 minutes for our server to welcome us and say they would be right with us. We were all dressed very nicely and were there celebrating a milestone birthday. We had not been to Biba for nearly 2 years and this was by far the worst service experience, at least the food was still good.
The famed lasagna was a bit bland to my taste but I understand subtlety is there style of cooking. Was there on a $100 gift cert for lunch. Two entrees, two drinks, 1 soup, 1 bead basket, 1 coffee and 1 dessert plus tip was $110 for lunch.
Not as good as I remembered it. I thought the food was just average this time and the interior is in need of updating. However, our server was outstanding!
We loved everything about our visit from the waitress to the staff to the excellent food and service!!
The service is excellent and the food is delicious, but it's a bit overpriced for what you get. I was surprised when I saw a $3 charge for bread for the table, which is normally included at most Italian restaurants. I also had an Old Fashioned cocktail that tasted watered down due to all of the melting ice and had floating chunks of pulp from the fruit garnish. The ambiance is classy but looks like it's straight out of the 80s. I'd recommend it for a nice meal out.
we loved Biba's so much we came back for lunch to try the Lasagna Bolognese!
Always superb. Excellent food, service and ambiance.
Requested secluded table, was perfect!
My wife and I went to Biba’s to celebrate our 1 month anniversary. She had eaten here before and wanted me to have as great an experience as she had the last time she was there. And I did. The food was great and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed the piano playing in the room as it added to the experience. My only wish would be that we had sat a bit closer to piano and that our reservation would have been a little bit later as the piano player didn’t start until we were almost finished with our dinner. But all in all we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and plan on coming back for all our special occasions.
Biba has been our favorite Sacramento area restaurant for many years. Service has always been impeccable. And the food! It's the most delightful, pleasing, well-prepared Italian food we've had about anywhere. I recently had the chef's special of swordfish with shrimp-stuffed peppers -- delightful. The Lasagne Verdi alla Bolognese, available only on Thursday and Friday because making it is so labor-intensive, is wondrous, lasagne such as I have never had anywhere else. The wine list has excellent vintages reasonably priced. We love Biba. You must go there!
