The restaurant atmosphere is lovely both inside and out. A charming building across from a lovely park and a pleasant short walk from the bustle of Yonge Street.

The pasta is average and certainly not any better than what you could easily achieve at home only with larger servings. And that bothers me. It's just pasta! It costs nothing! Throw in a little extra to properly fill the plate thereby allowing people to feel that they are receiving value for their $28.00 menu item.

But what's really annoying is a certain veneer of arrogance from everyone connected with the establishment. It's almost as if they resent your presence. The sense conveyed from the waiters is something like this: "I may be just a waiter and you may be able to afford this meal better than me, but I have more class than you - in Bourdieusian terms, "disinterest" - and that gives me more cultural capital than you".

The thing is for those us who live in the market area, it's there, handy, swank enough to impress your guest(s) and an easy walk to and from just about anywhere you reside in the market.

On the whole, my take on it.......so-so.

We went on a quiet Wednesday evening and there was no one in the restaurant. They made us Bruschetta after we asked but we found the menu was really limited for those who are lactose intolerant - and was different to what we viewed online. The wine menu was ridiculously expensive. There are many more Italian restaurants in Toronto which are much better!

As a guest of Biaggio when I'm in town over 25 years, it never loses its charm - wonderful ambiance; fabulous food; superior service! This is one of Toronto's most prized possessions- thank you!

We randomly selected Biagio in our visit to the Toronto area for our date night... This was absolutely a wonderful find... We had a wonderful time at the restaurant, the waiter select our dishes, and WOW... Everything was fresh, seasoned perfectly, wine pairs were perfect... One dish was a fresh pasta dish, short noodles that were thicker than a traditional spaghetti noodle and a ragu sauce that was out of this world... I highly recommend this restaurant to any visiting Toronto.

I e-mailed Biagio as I was pretty unimpressed with how they handled the very unexpected cancellation of my dinner reservation. Never heard back. Needless to say I would not go there and would never recommend this place

Went on Valentines Day with my wife based on the high reviews on Open Table. Overall the night was a disappointment.

First impressions are always important and ours was very poor. We walked in and we're greeted by no one. I don't believe there was a host on for the night. We waited for about a minute before a server checking the reservation looked at us and greeted us with a "yes?". So we told him we had a reservation (which he found) and we were then told to go hang our coats up as he pointed to the coat racks. A little taken aback as most fine dining restaurants will offer to take your coats.

The building has the old world charm and was very beautiful. After being seated we were greeted by a kind old gentleman who would be our server for the night. Unfortunately he was very forgetful throughout the night starting with forgetting to take our order for 20 minutes. He apologized as he thought he had taken it.

Overall food was nice but not spectacular. Apps were good as we had the Lobster Bisque and carpaccio. We would have expected a little more flavour and substance to the pasta dishes we had for the price. I had the tagliolini and my wife had the orecchiette. Definitely just average in our opinion. Dessert was very nice as we shared a tiramisu while sipping on a cappuccino and Irish coffee.

Wait times for getting our food and between courses was a little long for our liking. Total dining time for a three course meal was 2 hrs 15 min.

For us we won't be back as it just didn't make a high enough impression to justify us returning over some of our favourite restaurants.

Lovely restaurant. Beautiful room with white linens. Very quiet so you could actually have a conversation and hear the person talking to you. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. The food was exceptional and authentic. Just a short distance from the Sony Centre and great for pre or post theatre dinner. Would definitely go back. Thank you for a lovely evening.

The food was great and our server was very nice!
It was just a bit too quiet for a group of gals trying to have a fun night out.
That being said, it wasn't their fault, we just shouldn't have picked such a quiet and bring Restaurant.
Also, a little bit expensive for Italian, in my opinion!

We recently hosted a most memorable evening at Biagio for a group of special friends. We often dine there - it is a first choice for business, dinner with friends, or a special evening for two! Fabulous food, attentive service, and great ambiance - it is never loud, so perfect for conversation! Our highest recommendation.

As this restaurant is in the historic St. Lawrence Hall, you would expect it to be elegant. The high ceilings add to the ambience. The outdoor patio was very popular, but we prefer air conditioning. We enjoyed the "Summerlicious" lunch. There are three choices for each course. I had gazpacho, salmon and chocolate mousse. The food and service were outstanding. Some of the staff have been there for years - always a good sign. So many restaurants are doing away with table-cloths; we were glad Biagio is not one of them.

The idea of Summerlicious should be to put one's best foot forward so it is surprising that this restaurant fully missed the point. The salads (cappriciosa and tomato&bocconcini) were fresh and fine. The bread basked was very nice filled with variety of fresh breads. However the two main meals were not so fine. My companion had a wild salmon which was dry and greatly overcooked. My Scaloppini di Vittelo were hardly a degree over institutionally served food; the cutlets, it seemed, were cooked en masse (i.e. not browned individually) and were smothered in, what seemed, an artificial sauce with some canned mushrooms added (almost as if a Campbell's Mushroom Soup was poured over them). One had to be really hungry to eat it at all. The desert Limoncello Tiramisu was a misnomer; the only hint of "limoncello" was a slice of lemon on the side of the plate and the cake was of a supermarket-type. The two white wines offered at $48.00 were described only as Sauvignon blanc & Pinot grigio (no references of who makes them and/or where they come from). The service was very good. But regarding the food we expected much more. A very unfortunate culinary experience.
Disappointed in Toronto

Very disappointing.
I suspect they over-extended their capacity to serve their guests properly.
There were a lot of large groups there so the attention to smaller parties was minimal.
Some food had cooled by the time we received it (the lobster bisque had a film on it), the pasta was undercooked, and we waited an hour between courses with no sight of our waiter.
Very disappointing.

Biagio is a fabulous high quality Italian restaurant that is Owner operated. It has a a significant variety of menu selections, all of which are very good, to go with a very extensive wine list. It also has one of my very favourite outside dining areas in Toronto because it is quiet and not near a street curb.
The restaurant has been there for decades and always has been highly consistent and very charming. The waiters are very experienced and attentive. Most have been there for a long time as well. The service is excellent. It is the closest feeling to being in a great Italian restaurant that you can experience outside of Italy.

It has consistently been one of my most favourite places to dine in Toronto both when I lived there and since I moved away some 20 years ago. I go back whenever I can.

Restaurant has a nice ambience, and we were welcomed warmly by the host at the door. We were seated in the lovely outdoor patio area. Food was fair, but not much more. It would have still been an enjoyable evening had it not been for our waiter who, for no known reason, virtually ignored us for the evening, not even making eye contact, and relegating our food service to the understaff. He was very attentive to those at tables around us, but not once checked back to see if we needed water refills, more wine, or coffee/dessert. For obvious reasons, we left no tip, which is something I have NEVER done before! The other wait staff seemed to be quite pleasant and attentive, but I would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant to a friend--for fear they would happen upon our same waiter.
