About BG - Bergdorf Goodman
Sophistication on the Seventh Floor of Bergdorf Goodman with afternoon into evening Central Park views. BG is a modern interpretation of the aristocratic social salon. Like a Park Avenue residence from the age of cosmopolitan glamour. Well-appointed and bright, the drawing room atmosphere is an intimate conversational setting for lunch, tea and early supper or cocktails. The light and sparkling menu is a modern take on classic New York fare.

BG - Bergdorf Goodman Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant itself is lovely and it is normally a great place for a bite. That said, the service on the day we were there was horrible - the waiter never returned to the table to ask how everything was, the bus boy tried to clear while we were still eating (a cardinal restaurant sin) and then cleared one person's food while the other was still eating even after being asked not to, and it took forever to get his attention. While the regular menu food is always great, the afternoon tea service was expensive and spartan - unappetizing very dry sandwiches (that were clearly sitting out) and only one scone on the plate (there are always 2 per person at every other tea salon on the planet); moreover, presumably because only one of us ordered the tea, instead of presenting everything on the regular tea stand, small plates were put on the table - which was very poor and ruined the enjoyment of the tea.
Very disappointing for Afternoon Tea. The bread on all the sandwiches was dry and stale. The sweets were nothing special. I always love BH for the lunch scallops, brown rolls, champagne and the service. I had high hopes which were dashed. I’m glad I was alone, so that I did not disappoint a guest.
Afternoon tea service was just ok. We were expecting better considering it was the restaurant at Bergdorf Goodman! But service was erratic, food was good but nothing extraordinary, and the tea selection was underwhelming. What we did enjoy was the beautiful room and the view!
Exceptional experience with afternoon/evening tea service. The server explained us the menu with much simplicity, to our delight. As it was our anniversary, they surprised us with a pumpkin crème brûlée - possibly the best ever I have had. The noise level was a bit high for our taste but that is something one cannot control much.
Thank you. I brought my mom, sister and mother in law while visiting NYC during the holidays. We had a lovely time. Our server was very nice and the staff did all possible to sit us by the window. The view was beautiful. Thank you sir such a special evening.
Beautiful restaurant with great view and food. The only complaint that I have is that the tables are too close and acoustics are not good for the noise level. It was difficult to have a conversation without speaking loud and then having the person next to you hear your conversation.
Our waiter Adam was great, and I would not have gone into BG otherwise so it was fun to shop around. The scones and tea were good, but the sandwiches were rather average and jam in jars is a bit odd. For the price I’d rather not have been hungry afterwards so quickly. It was fun to go, but probably only once.
A special mother and daughter lunch to celebrate a special occasion. Booking included a request for a window seat over Central Park which we got on arrival, dessert was also provided as a complimentary course due to the special occasion.
The food was exceptional and I couldn’t have hoped for a better experience
In December 2016, we were married in NYC at City Hall, just a few days before Christmas. Following the ceremony, we had an intimate, afternoon tea "reception" for our party of 5 at BGs. It was the perfect venue to celebrate our day - the staff was so very kind, friendly, and accommodating...
Every year just before Christmas, we spend a few days in NYC to enjoy the holiday vibe that is unique to NYC. This year, we came back to also celebrate our anniversary at BGs. During this trip, we were lucky to get in two afternoon teas at BGs - one for our anniversary, and one to also include two of my nieces who were visiting for the day. We all had a fabulous time!
We always book time at BGs - during any of our visits to NYC!
I've been to BG for lunch twice so far. The first time I didn't have a reservation and the line waiting out the door stretched way down the hall but they offered me a seat at the bar within five minutes so I took it. The server behind the bar was courteous and attentive. The food arrived within a very reasonable time. The lobster mac and cheese was served in an individual cast-iron skillet, piping hot, just a tad overdone but very good, and the pumpkin creme brûlée for dessert was heaven on a plate, thin brittle crust, rich creamy custard and absolutely delicious. Altogether it was a very pleasant experience.
I went back today, this time with a reservation, and was seated at a table almost immediately. I had the ahi tuna tartare for lunch and a repeat on the pumpkin crime brûlée for dessert. Both were scrumptious. The service was prompt, friendly and courteous. I made another reservation for lunch next month on my way out.
I'd go here for lunch every day if I could afford it but alas, this place is a budget-buster, although the food and the service are worth the price, so I'll limit it to a periodic treat and count it as something to look forward to.
My wife and I went for afternoon tea service. Since it's was so close to Christmas the store and restaurant were extremely busy and noisy. The tea and food were good - service was as expected - but the overall experience didn't live up to what we had heard. It was not a typical tea service ambiance - but we enjoyed ourselves.
My friend took me to Bergdorf’s for afternoon tea as a birthday celebration. We had a lovely time. Though the dining room was packed Saturday evening as service turned over from lunch and tea to dinner, we never felt rushed and were attended to the entire time we were there. It was lovely
Great experience! NYC restaurants can be tough at Christmas because of the crowds, i.e. slow service etc. but this was not the case. We were seated immediately and everything was great! My friend and I each had salads and they were wonderful. Had the pumpkin brule for dessert - very good as well.
