Food and service is consistently excellent and the view of Central Park is breathtaking.
Went to BG for afternoon tea the day after Valentine’s Day with my husband and our 6 month old daughter. First of all I have to say that I called multiple times to make sure they were okay with infants being in the restaurant at tea time. My baby is not fussy and doesn’t cry or create a scene in public so I wasn’t even worried, I was more concerned because of the noise level and space.
We got an excellent table that had room for her car seat and her diaper bag and it was in the corner and away from other tables.
This was my second time at BG for afternoon tea and I have never seen more snooty people under one roof ever before. Both times there was some one there who felt they were more entitled to be there than us. First time an older couple who had to wait for the table made multiple comments about our large table of girls who came for my friends birthday. Absolutely inappropriate and unnecessary comments about our race and how her husband was some big shot doctor. She couldn’t believe we got a table and she had to wait and sit next to us.
And today, two girls who were sitting next to us, who came after us, stopped us mid tea to say that my daughters presence was “distracting” because they came for “peace and quiet”. If you have been to BG, it’s anything but quiet and peaceful. It’s a lovely tea cafe and bar. Let me repeat that my child was not being fussy, not crying, she was just there and that seemed to have bothered them. She wasn’t even sitting on their side.
We respectfully said sorry and asked for the check and left. However, before we could get up and leave the manager, Ismael came by to look at our baby and started talking to us about his baby. I asked him if they have a no baby policy and he said absolutely not and I told him about what the girls sitting to us had said. He said that if they had a problem they should’ve asked for an other table and waited. He was extremely nice and accommodating. Tea is great but the guests are way over their heads.
We have had so many wonderful lunches at “BG” ... and we are always happy to be there.
The space is classic New York, the food is delicious, the service is friendly and seamless ... what’s not to like!
Here’s to making many more memories at BG!
Very nice! We all quite enjoyed ourselves.
The ultimate ladies-who-lunch experience! Delicious, decadent food, terrific service, a lovely room... couldn't ask for anything more, except to have enough money to be able to dine there every day.
Beautiful, refined setting with tasty food. Note that afternoon tea doesn't start until 2:30.
It was great, everyone there made the experience excellent.
Lovely atmosphere and the food is quite good. Hard to have a conversation given the volume of other diners.
It was good, not as good as usual!
We LOVE BG and everyone who works there. They never disappoint--flawless brunch spot and for afternoon tea! 10's across the board.
We love this restaurant. From the ambiance to the convenience to the superb staff to the awesomely delicious food! Nick our waiter/ bartender is just the best!! Thank you so much!!!
It was a nice experience. I booked this place thinking we'll be seated at the window seat with the nice chairs but we were seated at a regular long table with other customers very close to us. It was very loud around us but the afternoon tea was very delicious.
An amazing experience!
Nice for a birthday lunch!
Bergdorf Goodman is the best. Great service and great food. :)
Always perfect. Never disappoints
We had a 630 pm reservation and the waiter said we had to put our order before 7 as the kitchen closes this is unacceptable why have a630 reservation and be rushed out and told the kitchen closes at 7 pm
Always my favorite lunch spot in NYC!!
The service was top-notch and the food and wine were outstanding! What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Definitely suggest making reservations as the place was very busy on a Tuesday.
It is fine fir lunch. Service was not good
Great food and service… Very classy and beautiful restaurant
Great Sunday brunch! The atmosphere was tasteful and food was delicious
Outstanding meal and service.
My daughter and I stopped in for a mid-afternoon/ late lunch. We had a delicious meal (lentil, parmesan and broccoli rabe soup) and split a Croque Monsieur sandwich. We had excellent service and loved eating at one of our favorite places to shop.
Absolutely loved our server. Kate.....We had a ball- excellent croque madame !
An absolutely exquisite setting. My server was delightful and friendly. The martini was mixed to perfection, although it would be better if they used a proper martini glass instead of a coupette.
Food is good, very pretty room, nice ambiance but the food is ridiculously expensive for what it is. The basement level restaurant is expensive too but for the exact same salad it’s less.
Ate here for a celebratory lunch after saying yes to my wedding dress. We did the high tea at 2:30. Was very lively and loud so we sat in the back against the window. Beautiful restaurant and experience, pricey, but worth it for a special occasion. An experience every new york fashion girl should have.
You’re packed in there like sardines, which I guess is expected of New York, but it was just too much. The noise level was super high, the lighting wasn’t ideal, and just overall not a comfortable experience. Would not recommend
So lovely here.
The food was phenomenal and the service was even better. I will eat here every time I come back.
Great service, but a little rushed. Food and presentation was out top notch.
It was outstanding. Andrew provided an excellent table and the service was terrific. Food outstanding.
It was fine but the bill ridiculously high. There are too many other great restaurants in nyc to pay $100 for 2 salads and 1 tart
BG is a lovely place for a tete-a-tete with any dear friend. They serve Taltani, which is this Australian sparkling that is lovely and not too pricey. It is something they have had on the menu for years and years. Which is what I love about it there. The servers know your name, and greet you it any time you go in! The staff has been the same for years, so they know the regulars so well. The decor of the restaurant always stays impeccable and lovely. They constantly refresh the leather chairs. Everything just sparkles there...But, it is very hard for them to get a top-notch chef because the chef has to pass Bergdorf Goodman's credit check to be an employee of the company, and most chefs have blown their credit. This is what I was told, and I believe it. So the food is good. But not stupendous. If you want stupendous, head to Nougatine at Jeans-George. The prices are very similar....That said, I love BG and go there very often even if I do shop after having a few glasses of Taltarni with less inhibition than I ought to have.
Afternoon tea service was fantastic and the food was great. Highly recommend the experience. I should also mention Scott was so kind and helpful.
I was in New York on business and dining alone for a late lunch. When I arrived for my reservation at BG I was greeted warmly and given the choice of two tables clearly chosen for a solo dining experience. I chose the one with big cozy chairs in a quiet corner of the main busy dining room. The staff was attentive and the food was divine. The ambiance was relaxing despite the crowded restaurant.
Went for the afternoon tea. The food was tasty and overall at $50, I would say this is a good value as you have the scenic views outside and the ambiance of being at Bergdorf Goodman. However, you are quite packed inside the restaurant and the tea felt very rushed. We were there for just one hour - I hadn't even finished my pot of tea by the time we had received our check. The website says to allot 2 hours for tea, so I was very surprised at what a rushed (rather than relaxed) experience it proved to be.
The french old fashioned was not good
