Upon check in, the hostess said that they had spoken to me on the phone and reserved our seats at the bar top overlooking the kitchen. I explained that I had never spoken to anyone and that the bar top was not acceptable. So the next best option was the table next to the door, in the dark and very cold. They only agreed to place me in the dining room after I left to find another restaurant in the neighborhood. They called me on the phone to say they would give us someone else's table that was running late for their reservation. Once that was all settled, the service was great and the food was too!
My husband and I went there for New Year's Eve. Overall a great experience. We would go back.
Love Betty....food is consistently delicious! Their ribeye is the best steak anywhere....and you can't beat the value.
Had a great dinner for five on boxing day. Betty has a way of making delightful dishes from standard (though high quality) ingredients. The sardine salad had great flavors and the gnocchi was done perfect with the correct texture.
The menu here changes with the seasons. The menu is not extensive and it's on the pricey side but the good news, there is enough on a plate to bring home leftovers. Wait staff is professional, which is to say they don't introduce themselves recognizing that their job is to wait on the table, not become the diner's best friend. A nice treat once in awhile. Anyone with a hearing aid should not eat here because acoustics are bad, it's very noisy.
I've been eating a Betty's since it opened, and have yet to eat anything but a top-notch meal
there. The bartender has an honest hand, the service can't be beat, and the food is head and shoulders over anything else on Queen Anne Hill and the Uptown District. It's a bit noisy, but selecting the right table takes care of that.
Went to Seattle for a few days to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. So many great restaurants to get in while there but we went to Betty's on our last night in town. I made the reservations for the Chef's Table as suggested by a friend. We sat at the bar with a bird's eye view of the action. So much fun to watch! My girlfriend loved the oysters appetizer. I munched on the delicious bruschetta as we drank some most delicious wine. Having had a hankering for a good burger all week, I ordered the burger and it was cooked to perfection, so flavorful and juicy with a soft brioche bun and a ton of yummy fries. Wish I could remember what my friend had but I was so engaged in my own meal and drinking a wonderful Walla Walla wine we had brought with us that I can recall now what it was. I know she was ore than delighted and she can be hard to please. The service was excellent, the restaurant fun and the chef answered our questions with a smile. He appreciated our two thumbs up critiques, too! We will make a return trip, that's for sure!
Ordered my usual Malibu and Diet coke drink and they didn't have any!!! Cant imagaine a restaurant not carrying the popular rum. The menu choice is very limited. But the steak offering was exceptional.
The food was fantastic, as usual. But, the service was a bit off. This is not the norm though, so hoping it was just an off night. Table was not ready when we arrived for our reservation so we waited about 5 minutes, no big deal but then when we were seated, we waiting about 10 minutes before seeing our server. She took our order and then was gone for another large number of minutes. I did note that she had a large party next to us that she was serving but if she had too much, then the hostess or another server, should have stepped in to at least greet us and take our drink order. The food was fantastic though so it makes up for the slow service.
Every November, around the release of Beaujolais Nouveau, Betty adds its famous cassoulet to the fall menu. This year as in past years, the cassoulet is excellent. After Christmas they often exchange the real cassoulet for a fine vegetarian version.
A great night, with great service from Julia, and a fine wine off the Tuesday $20 per bottle list.
Dinner was very good. What worked was to eat at Betty's and then called a Lift ride to the Rep. Made parking easier. Squash soup was delicious.
Betty is a favorite and a neighborhood place we visit often. However the menu could use a switch up. It's a small menu which is fine, but since we go often we basically have two or three things to choose from, thus Betty is becoming a place we visit more for convenience than excellence.
Love their roasted chicken on the menu. It is just perfect...moist, generous portion, delicious gravy and condiments (vegetables are seasonal). I usually order it right away...it's at least a 30 minute wait. I enjoy a drink, appetizer or one of their delicious salads before my entree.
My friend and I split the beet salad, and the chicken...but we each had our own dessert. Friendly, accommodating staff. We sat at the chefs bar which was so much better from a noise perspective- the restaurant can be terribly loud.
All in all, we had a lovely meal.
Meals here are always consistently great, with seasonal entrees, good wine list, service is attentive, friendly but not intrusive. Nice place to dine before ballet or theater.
Awesome menu, nicely designed restaurant with different seating areas to suit the kind of dining experience you are looking for, small but comprehensive wine list. Well worth a visit.
We had the fried cauliflower out first. The outside was light and the cauliflower was perfectly cooked. Out next were two amazingly yummy orders of Steak and Frites cooked medium and perfect.
We had a great timing the service was just right. We have already been back once.
The roasted chicken is delicious! Burger, salads and drinks great too. Pasta option for the kiddos is nice to have.
Celebrated my birthday here. It was a busy night but we were seated very quickly. I had the mussels with a side of pomme frites, some of the best I've ever had. And my family is from Belguim and we know mussels. The beet salad was quite tasty. My friend had the pork chop and he raved about how moist and tasty it was. A great bottle of wine rounded out the meal. Will be back! Totally recommend the place!
The food was excellent. I had the lamb sausages, and my husband had the pork chop. Both very tasty. The service was fine but a little disorganized.
After thoroughly enjoying our meal at sister restaurant Crow, we tried Betty with some friends who were in town. It did not disappoint! The service was outstanding, they have a 20 wines under $20 list that seems impossible to go wrong with, and a cocktail menu of interesting and well-thought out drinks.
The food was amazing, from the roast chicken to the steak.
We were seated quickly and our server was upon us within about 90 seconds of seating; we were happy to give her our wine orders. Starter and main courses were quick though still spaced appropriately. Additional wine order were quick as well. Fast, attentive service. Great food. Reasonably priced. Cannot ask for more.
Excellent service, sophisticated atmosphere, although quite loud. Food was quite good, but I took a star off as both my pork chop and my wife's steak were excessively salty. The smores creme brûlée was incredible.
Betty has really good food at reasonable prices. Our server was wonderful. She let us relax and take our time, but was there when we wanted her. We arrived in time for happy hour and ejoyed some very nice wine for $6 a glass. Can't beat that!
Betty's is a welcoming place and we all enjoyed a delicious meal, a fine bottle of wine and the attentive service of the staff.
Thank you all for a lovely evening
Betty is one of our favorite places. The food is always top-notch, and the service is perfect without being fussy. I would say it's a very "warm" environment in that it seems like everyone that works at Betty actually likes being there. It communicates. All the tables were full of happy people, and we heard lots of laughter in the room. Plus, it is quite reasonably priced so we can treat ourselves to a meal at Betty more regularly.
This is not the only restaurant in the neighborhood with great promise and underwhelming execution. The menu is all over the place - jambalaya special or curry mussels or a burger... odd. The service was attentive - a bit over-attentive in the water department. I felt like I needed a life preserver with all the water they poured. It just becomes intrusive. My husband also remarked that we would be leaving smelling like the food due to the "open" kitchen and the ventilation - or lack thereof.
If you are going for happy hour make sure you say that in your reservation.
We did not specify this so we missed out. Our server was very understanding though.
I was sad that the ribeye was very salty this time around. But their variety of appetizers were amazing as always.
It was just OK. Not great, not terrible. I had one cocktail and it was really good, so a+ on that. The entrees took 1 hour to come out and we didn't order the chicken which supposedly has the longest wait time. The food was unremarkable. The only seafood item (fish de jour....) Was jambalaya with shrimp, which we tried and it was pretty bland. Nice atmosphere, nice cocktail, friendly waiter, food was meh.
Go for the food and stay for the service! Easy to get a reservation and does not disappoint.
We enjoyed a tasty jambalaya made with fresh ingredients and fresh shrimp.
Friendly staff... Great service. Good value. I'd be very happy to recommend as a place for a quick and easy meal, or as a place for a three course prolonged meal. I have taken business associates there; I go with kids too. Can't recommend highly enough.
We chose to reserve a spot at the Chef's Counter, and although we were a few minutes early, they had a placecard sitting at the counter holding our place, and they were ready for us. It was a great place, poised right there were the action was happening. We wanted to watch the chef work, and it was a lot of fun. He spoke to us and answered questions we had. (And right now, I'm forgetting his name. Ugh, sorry.)
We had the roasted chicken, and the lamb tagine. Really enjoyed them!
The only "drawback" to being seated there was watching all these other dishes getting prepared and saying "ooh, that looks good too!"
We'll definitely return.
Another wonderful 2hours at Betty with friends. Attentive service, delicious lamb tagine , affordable enjoyable wine and all within walking distance of home. Life is good.
We hadn't been to Betty in quite some time, but made reservations when we had family visiting who are picky eaters. Betty's service and food were very good, as we remembered. For appetizers we shared the squash blossoms and heirloom tomato salad, both delicious. We were all in a "meat mood" so had the steak frites, which never fails to please, and lamb tagine. For dessert, we shared two pieces of blueberry pie - a perfect dish to remind us it's summer. Not that you'd forget; Betty could use better air circulation, more fans, or even air conditioning. It can get toasty in there! Better yet, be sure to come back in the Fall! Thanks for a great evening, Betty.
I enjoyed the sockeye salmon special, which was cooked perfectly and served over a bed of green bean salad and topped with kalamata olive tapenade. Delicious. We started out each with a bowl of vegan gazpacho soup, which was zingy with spice, full of flavor, and refreshing on a hot day.
I paid $30 for a steak and fries. It was okay, but definitely not worth the money. I've made many better steaks at home and I'm no chef.
We recently "rediscovered" Betty and thoroughly enjoy the food. The shared plates are a great way to have a light meal.
We've been eating at Betty since it opened. The food , aervice, general amnience ( be prepared for
riotous sound level on Friday nites) are consistentley at a very high level. The ambience's sole flaw is the absolutely lousy art on the walls.
The food was really good. I had "summer vegetable succotash" and I loved every bit. My husband had oven roasted chicken, the chicken was so tender and juicy. After we ordered the chicken, it took more than half an hr wait, it was like 45 minutes wait instead. That was not the only problems that night, the drinks were too sour. Both mojoto & angry wife were a bit too sour for our taste. Overall, the food was amazing, I will go there again.
