Besaw's Ratings and Reviews
My girlfriends and I came for a pre-holiday breakfast. Some of the ladies are vegan and vegetarian, so Besaw’s was the perfect venue. There were lots of delicious and hearty dishes to choose from. Service was excellent. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. Besaw’s never disappoints!
We visited Besaw's for their Thanksgiving specials and thought it was wonderful! Our reservation said we had outdoor seating, but the person at the front said they would never do that us and found us indoor seating! We had a friendly server and delicious food! Our turkey dinner was exactly what we were looking for!
We enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner at Besaw's. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating. The wine and beer choices suited both of us. I loved the presentation of their turkey dinner...literally heaped in the middle of the plate. I know that doesn't sound appetizing, but it works so well! Each bite was the perfect blend of potatoes, gravy, stuffing, wonderful cranberry sauce, and, of course, turkey. Yum! The food on both of our plates was warm, but not hot. It was not worth bothering the staff, but made me wonder if the plates were pre-served and waiting. Not a pleasant thought and I hope I am wrong...but the food should have been much hotter. I have two additional thoughts. Regarding the value of the meal, charging $4 for two Parkerhouse rolls seems chintzy. Rolls are standard fare for a Thanksgiving plate, and to have an a la carte charge for them just didn't sit well. Also, we ooh'ed and ah'ed at the desserts that passed us. We saw exactly what was being served. We both chose the beautiful cranberry-decorated cheesecake and asked that it be boxed to enjoy later in the evening at home...and instead enjoyed a after-dinner drink to finish our meal. Imagine our disappointment at home when we opened our boxes. Each had the tiniest sliver of cheesecake. It looked like one serving had been sliced in half and one of each half placed in a box. It was obvious and disappointing...because what could we say once we were home. Dampened my enthusiasm as I questioned their integrity...for what would have been an almost perfect experience.
Great food. Nothing bad to say. Would only critique the portion sizes. I got the fried chicken dinner which was awesome, and a lot of food. My boyfriend got the Chili rilleno dinner and it was quite small in comparison to my order. Everything else was perfect.
We had a great time mostly because of our awesome waiter. The noise level was too loud. We were a group of 5 women friends who get together once a month for lunch. Not sure if we will come back here because we were not able to visit, just too loud. Our waiter was the most awesome!!!!!
AMAZING! service was great, the staff was friendly. The return of the meatloaf is a must try! Their seasonal entrees sounded and tasted fantastic. This restaurant has now made my favorite list. check them out! I put moderate noise buuut we had a party of 13, so we might have been the reason for the increase in volume. :) This place is great!
Besaw's used to be my favorite restaurant, but since the move they have lost most of the ambiance and quality I loved. The food was good, but nothing special, they removed longtime favorites like meatloaf and chicken and waffles and the service was fine, but not stellar like before.
It wasn't as good as previously but it's now your basic pub fare. Not sure about the chef who is supposed to be a celebrity. Very basic, not creative so we opted out of dinner & only had a meat board & sparkling rose. Wouldn't return.
There were six of us. We came to Beasts before a Moda Center concert. All of us were really impressed at the quality of food. EVERYTHING was great. I had the pork chop which was cooked to perfection with a peach jam glaze. Amazing! They were very accommodating with my wife's gluten free diet. Everybody was raving about their appetizers and main courses. We will most definitely will be back!
Picked up roses for my wife at Sammy's Flowers then made dinner reservation just to be sure for 7:30pm. Called ahead while driving to Besaw's and host Beth answered. Asked her if it would be possible to leave her the flowers at the desk and present them to my wife after she was sat and settled in. Beth said, "YES we can do that!" After I arrived Beth shuffled quickly to the store entrance and sauntered me to a back table she "thought seemed romantic." After I sat down I showed Beth a photo of my wife so she knew who she looked like from the street. Once Beth noticed her coming from the car, she made eye contact accross the room with me. Thumbs up between the two of us indicated she was just about here. Beth showed my wife to the table. Once my wife settled in, flowers arrived with complimentary bubbles. Made for a relaxing and fun impromptu getaway. Thanks for taking the interest in making something so mundane as just another anniversary seem like it was our first. We loved the old Besaw's and it's good to know we're are going to like the new one as well! Oh, and I think I mentioned Beth's name a few times, but she's the bee's knees in my book.
We were here for dinner on our annual visit to Portland. I would rate it high average among the restaurants we have tried here. My husband found the fried chicken excellent; my onion tart was good but not particularly memorable. Good mixed drinks. Excellent service.
Our brunch at Besaw's on July 4th was great! From the cocktails to the fresh ingredients, the food and drink offerings were varied and delicious. And the staff was very accommodating as some members of our party ambled in a bit later than our reservation time. The high ceilings created an airy ambiance further emphasized by open air dining in the good weather. Thank you, Besaw's!
Loved the old Besaw's and mourned its demise, but the new location works very nicely. The restaurant is physically attractive and very comfortable. We visited the evening of July 3 and it was, I suspect, much quieter than normal nights. Service was outstanding, and the food/drinks were as good as ever. Parking was easy peasy. Going back soon!
Our waitress was amazing! She was knowledgeable, fast, and entertaining. We had a large party for a birthday and we were early and they were ready within minutes for us, yet still ahead of our actual reservation time. Overall impressed from start to finish.
My husband and I had a courthouse wedding and reserved our dinner party for 15 and Besaw's. Our experience could not have been more perfect for what we wanted. They gave us a line of tables on the side next to the open patio and they had the walls open for us to enjoy the beautiful summer evening! The servicers were phenomenal, going above and beyond with impeccable service. Everyone was raving about their drinks and the food, and the restaurant even provided us with a surprise round of celebratory drinks to cheers to our wedding!
Besaw's really made our unconventional wedding day special!
Went for a business retirement brunch of 15 people. I did make reservations ahead of time and they were ready for us. We had some additional people show up and the friendly staff added another table without issue. Good customer service and good tasting food that is generous in size. I will go back and I recommend the place.
This was our first visit to Besaw's, which we greatly anticipated since it has been in business such a long time. Except for the butterscotch pudding and ginger snap cookies, we were uniformly disappointed in our food. Perhaps it's because we're vegetarians. Our dining companion, who had been to Besaw's before, liked her meal. We found the mac and cheese, the pizza and the grilled asparagus uniformly bland and uninteresting. Our waitress was attentive, the atmosphere was pleasant, but at the prices Besaw's charges, we came away unhappy.
