   We arrived and we’re told that our reservation was cancelled because they were closing at 6:30 now. They gave us no warning, and we’re very rude about the whole thing. I called the manager and he was even more rude. Really a horrible experience that makes me not want to go back.

   The brunch food was good. Our waiter was good, when we could find him. We went here from May to August 2021; 8 to 10 times. Then stopped because the food went downhill as well as poor service. With reservations, we were never seated within 10 minutes of our reservation time and wait staff was clearly burnt out. This past Sunday: The front desk staff give the impression of not caring. Maybe they are overworked or under-trained. Getting a mimosa or drink took way too long. More than 15 minutes for a simple drink order. We will try again in a year, only because Bernies Highland Ave is close to home.

   They had zero clean eating utensils. And handed out the smallest, flimsiest, plastic fork and knife. That made keeping the food on the fork nearly impossible.

    Decent menu with lots of solid bar food sandwiches and entree choices for meat eaters and vegetarians. Wide selection of beer and wine. Light on mix drinks selections from menu. Friendly, pleasant service. Wait times a little long for seating (15 minutes after reservation) and long wait for food after ordered but no problem since we built in some buffer time expecting a good place like Bernie’s to be busy on a Saturday night.     I made a reservation in advance but when we got there we still had to wait a long time for our table. When we were seated they put us next to a party with loud children. We ordered then there was a couple seated after us that got their food and were finished before were received our food. Worst service ever! We will not be returning!!!

    Wasn’t real impressed. It took a while to acknowledge us when we got there. The shrimp and grits and eggs Benedict were not good. The service was not good and it wasn’t too busy. I don’t think short staffing had anything to do with it. Ordered pancakes and potatoes. Did t give us syrup or ketchup. When she finally came by we asked for it. It took 10 minutes to get it. We were almost finished. I would also consider it over price considering the service and quality of the food. I would not recommend.

    We were here for a special occasion. I've been here before and it wasn't this bad previously. They didn't have some of the menu items that we were asking for, the dishes were not cleaned well and replacements had to be requested for which the waitress replied "those are just dishwasher spots!..", like ok, let us injest soap. Everything took a very long time and she kept leaving to ask questions, but not returning quickly. I'm not sure if I'll come back again.

    We have been to Bernie’s a few times recently and just visited again last night. It doesn’t seem like they’re paying too much attention to cleaning. The menus were were given both had a few large, crusty (ketchup or another sauce?) stains one them. The chairs were also dirty and had what seemed to be ketchup on them as well. We sat outside and there was crushed food under our table (there when we were sat) that had attracted a slew of ants. The food is generally very good, but some of the service doesn’t make a lot of sense. Kids seem to be welcome (high chairs and crayons, etc. are available) but they seem to have a lot of trouble actually serving them. Both this time and one before when we asked for a plastic cup, we were told that that isn’t something that they have. We can make do with a regular glass, so no big deal, but both times someone showed up with one that they had managed to find later in the meal. Both times it seemed like the servers were surprised that they offered them. This could be totally down to supply chain issues, but the staff seems really confused about what they actually do have. Our food last night was great, but the kids macaroni and cheese is baked in the same dish they serve it in, so when it comes out it is dangerously hot. While this isn’t a huge deal for adults, little kids could potentially be burned by this, so it would probably be better to just transfer it to a cooler dish post-baking. Our server didn’t really seem to get this and seemed confused when asked for a small plate to spread it out on to cool.

    This was my third visit to Bernie's in Glenside, but the first time I've eaten inside (because it was hot outside!). They were very busy at this lunch time hour with graduation parties so the noise level was a little high, but not annoyingly so. Food was very good--my cheeseburger was delicious and cooked as requested. Hand cut fries were good. I would recommend Bernie's to others!

    I made a 6pm reservation since we had to leave by 7:30pm to get to a show. We were seated at 6:20pm for our 6pm reservation, but by 7:15pm, still hadn't received our meal. Admittedly, we were 10 minutes late - I called twice to let them know I was stuck in traffic but both times got voicemail. We didn't get to order until 6:30; appetizer arrived at 6:50. When dinner didn't arrive for another 25 minutes, we cancelled our order, paid and left. In their defense, they were gracious about cancelling our orders. So disappointed.

    They were short staffed in the kitchen so it too almost 1 hr to get our man in course. Waitstaff was great and quick to get our bill so we could make it on time to our show.

    Service, ambiance was excellent. However, the food was not as good as my last experience. I had the omelet and home fries. All the cheese was not properly melted and the home fries were horrible. They were not seasoned, too hard and practically burnt on the outside. I had this same order a few weeks ago. At that time the food was excellent. Hope you didn’t change cooks.

    I made a reservation at Bernie’s for after my Children’s high school graduation ceremony. Bernie’s did an amazing job honoring my reservation, giving us the requested accommodations for disabled family members and our server was the best! The food was fresh and delicious!     The hosts are rude and give off the vibe that you’re interrupting their side convos when you approach them to check in. No smiles or greeting. Our waitress was sweet and attentive, but 2 separate bus boys were being sloppy/rushing grabbing dishes off of our table and dumped drinks on 2 people in our party. We were in nice clothes as we had somewhere to be after dinner and neither of them said “sorry” or offered to get them napkins. The waitress was very apologetic even though it wasn’t her fault at all. The menus were super dirty and crinkled and the food is alright. It’s unfortunate because Bernies has definitely taken a turn for the worse and this was even before the pandemic. Would not choose to go back anytime soon.

    This is a great addition to the Abington/Jenkintown restaurant scene. It has both a lot of interior and outdoor seating - which is particularly nice during the pandemic. The food is a cut above what I expect from a tavern/pub. I ordered an old staple cocktail - a Tom Collins, and the bartender did a great job making it even though it wasn't on their list of specialty cocktails. I also had the crab cake dinner - and both the crab cakes were very good with lots of crab. I will be coming back here regularly whenever I'm in the Philadelphia area.

    Was running late and called to ask if our reservation could be moved back 30 mins and they did so graciously. Was a busy time and our waitress was a trooper keeping up with the crowd. Got us in and out in time for a show at the Keswick

    Bernie’s has been my go-to place this year. I usually get a burger because they are outstanding but I ventured into crab cake territory and found a new favorite. My dinner companion loved her hamburger and fries. The noise level was lower than usual because most people took advantage of the mild weather to eat outside. Service, as usual, was excellent!

    I want to love it but first impression, the hostesses were not enthusiastic, the menus were all worn and dirty and it was freezing in the place. Thanks our waiter Steven was great however and patient with my drink order indecision. My kids live up the street and they love Sunday brunch so maybe next time I will try that. The food is ok, my friends loved their crab cakes. My chicken dish was ok because the rice was too moist. Just please get clean menus!
