As usual, the food was prepared very well and was tasty.
Seriously short staffed. Those on staff are either overworked or don't really care. Burger was overcooked, Crab cage sandwich was mostly filler. Waitress just disappeared and it took two visits inside to pay the bill.
The service was great, our waitress was very warm and pleasant. The food was absolutely terrific, while we enjoyed al fresco dining, feeling very safe.
The restaurant is good the hostess was super rude however and condensing!
Our server Crystal was amazing despite the restaurant being understaffed that day.
Food was cold and the waitress never asked if we needed anything, never refreshed our coffee, made conversation (long) with all of her other tables (not us) and she brought out a small, black cup of "creamer" with no lid and said it was "something like half and half". Really?! There was nothing genuine about her mannerisms. Eye contact goes a very long way!
Both the service and food were terrible this time. I’ve been to bernies many times but they were so clearly understaffed when we were there. Our table was broken there was a hair in my coffee there was shell in my crab cake. A hostess spilled cream all over our table and then in the most bored unapologetic voice ever said” I’ll get a busser” which she never did. Our poor waitress was waiting, cooking, washing and bussing tables. She was clearly frazzled and overworked. But even though that was the case they had both pattios and the inside open. Management there needs to do better.
Was able to reserve specifically for an outside table. I thought the outdoor seating might be weird as it is in the parking lot, but it was really very pleasant. We were seated next to a pretty outdoor fire pit that was pretty and provided some heat for a cool autumn evening. Service was good. Food was tasty. I would go back again.
We love this restaurant, both the Glenside location and the Hatboro location. The menu is varied and always delicious. Indoors is a great sports bar ambience and outside on the patio is comfortable and quiet. Last night we ordered the chicken Marcella and the large salad with chicken, nuts and blue cheese… delicious.
After reading mixed reviews about service and food availability, we decided to give Bernie's a try anyway. I'm happy to say we're glad we did. We were seated at our reservation time. Our waitress (sorry, don't remember her name) came over shortly after with water and took drink orders. When we were ready to order, she was up front telling us that there may be some delay because the kitchen was backed up. She came back to the table to check on us and tell us the food would be out soon. The wait was not long. I will say that we and our friends were in no rush that evening. We enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful weather. However, I still don't think we waited an unacceptable time for food to come out. We all enjoyed our meals and would definitely come back again.
Krystal is an amazing server! She was very attentive and caring! The food was absolutely delicious; no complaints from our pickiest eaters (kids lol). The Pineapple Royale is a smashingly good drink! I look forward to visiting again.
Food was great, service was very good, server and other staff members were courteous and polite. Enjoyable lunch.
No desserts available at 4p otherwise good burgers.
It was ok not enough food on the plate for the price
We waited over one hour for our dinner of three hamburgers. The kitchen was overwhelmed.
Food wasn’t bad. Fries came out cold but were quickly replaced.
They are obviously very very very understaffed. In addition, there clearly is no one making decisions who has experience with seating and kitchen timing. The food was the saving grace.
50 minutes from the time we ordered our meal till it arrived. And we ordered off the menu! I love Bernie's, but c'mon. Our server shared there were not enough cooks in the kitchen.
Bernies is not like it once was. I know places are hurting due to the virus but they should be at leasting letting people know. Our reservation was at 6:15, we got there about 5 minutes late but still didn't sit till 6:40 after we just decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was working the bar and tables. After about 5-10 min they finally came over. They were out of everything I wanted to order so I had to quick decide on something else cause I knew if I didn't it would be another 10 min or more before they got back to us. They put the order in and 7:30 rolls around and still no food. We had an event at 8 and had to leave so we ended up cancelling the food order. It was only at that time they told us they only had two cooks. I understand things are tough with employment but they should have at least let us know so we could have decided to go somewhere else. The bar was sticky, flies fly around and kids running around screaming. It's a shame cause I really enjoyed this place but I probably won't ever be back.
The lack of management is clearly evident within Bernies. I made reservations for a party of 7, prior to arriving I was called by the hostess to confirm the reservation and asked if I wanted indoor or outdoor dining. When we arrived I went to check in with the hostess(the same one I talked to on the phone and clearly already had forgot she had called me 30 minutes prior, once again being asked if I wanted indoor or outdoor, 20 minutes later I had to go back in and ask again if the table was ready. Again, totally forgot about us. Table was still not ready, had to go back over seating preference again. After finally being seated our waitress came over and immediately informed us that they are understaffed, she had too many tables, and we should have not even have been seated as it could be up to 45 minutes to get food out. The combination of her bad attitude and making the restaurants problem now my problem was already off putting. It would have been nice if the hostess would have just been honest up front and I could have made other arrangements from the beginning verse being stuck not being able to find somewhere else to eat. After waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes after being seated 4 of the 7 meals finally came out and we could not wait any longer as we had other arrangements to attend. The entire time our waitress was over whelmed and rude. Not a single person there looked like they even remotely cared about how poorly run the place was. Such a disappointment and will not return.
Our food never came after an hour and a half wait, and the server never checked on it/apologized. We saw many other tables leave without their food as well in the same period. 3 servers for the entire restaurant, including the bar and outside. More and more patrons kept coming, but we saw less than 10 dishes actually come out from the kitchen in over 2 hours. Would never go back, would never recommend, and would advise any other restaurant in the area if you actually want to eat food.
Terrible food, terrible service. Never again. Messed the order. No tea selection. Waited for over 30 min for eggs. Potatoes were so overcooked, they looked like charcoal. Eggs undercooked. Cold rubber toast. The worst bacon I have ever tried. Dirty cups, plates, glasses.
Saw our waiter to take order and never again. Had to request our checking after waiting
Atmosphere was good. The food was good. The service was okay. Had a good time with the family.
I had a nice dining experience at Bernies Restaurant the other day, Michael was very nice and everything was great.
Smoking shouldn’t be allowed! Other than that the food was great, waitress was awesome but the hostess had an attitude.
I was sat after the time of reservation and had to wait for my server to come over for a while BUT the minute she did she explained her delay. They're short staffed like other places and she had other tables. She was extremely personable and attentive immediately after greeting us. The food as always was amazing and I love the ambience.
The French toast and pancakes were good but the place seemed dirty and no one had on mask except us and a few others. Also the bacon was very bad and the fruit was old. I wouldn’t recommend this place for brunch.
A good place to meet with friends. Food and service are good. Some new additions to the menu would be welcome.
It was beautiful and the food was great. Would go back
One tries to be extra patient during these times. Our server brought our food after a reasonable amount of time but didn’t notice that we had no silverware or napkins on our table. Sour our food sat there getting cold as we first flagged down the bus boy who we then saw serving two other tables without bringing our silverware. Then we had to flag down the waiter (more minutes passed) before we finally got our forks etc. Just made it memorable and the restaurant made no offers to make up for the unpleasantries
Experience was ruined because there were flies everywhere. All over the table and landing on the food.
We made reservations for 1:00 had to wait only ten minutes to be seated. Our server was friendly and came right away. Food was great, I had the big guy. At first they forgot my bacon and syrup but it was bought back right away. It’s a little noisy inside with everyone talking but still fine. This is our second visit and I will be back.
You can never go wrong when your dining @ Bernies!
Bernie's always has great food, great service whether you sit at the bar or at one of the tables inside or out.
Service was excessively slow - took 45 minutes to take our food order, then an additional 35 minutes for our food to be served
Trying to be fair here: we went on a Saturday night and the place was busy, but not nearly at capacity. The table next to us was quite loud. They did not appear to be understaffed at the tables, but the kitchen might have been. Our food took quite a long time to arrive and some of it was barely warm when it did. Two of the items we ordered turned out to be unavailable at 7:30 pm. Aside from that, the quality was pretty good and the wait staff was attentive and eager to please. Hard to recommend it based on this experience, but I'm guessing it would be a lot better if we were to return at a less hectic time.
ALL they had for dessert was cheesecake. Really? So we gave our dessert business to someone else. Burgers were blah. I never got my appetizer. Won't be going back.
Great for Outdoor Dining! I would recommend reservations. Although we made the reservation for 3pm, they were hospitable and called to let us know the kitchen is closed between 3pm-4pm. Apparently when making the reservation on Open Table, this information is not available. We were able to change the reservation accordingly.
Since our reservation was for 4pm, the restaurant was experiencing a change in shift and the kitchen was re-opening. This was not a problem but I would recommend to the manager that the host/hostess should make sure to greet each party and be sure to share a welcome smile. Since I arrived early, I noticed several staffers tended to talk to each other around the front door. Don't get me wrong, the host/hostess was pleasant and tended to guests but seemed not as focused. I've noticed this before on other visits but assume this may be due to little experience or not enough manager presence.
Once our party arrived, we were seated promptly and orders taken. It was nice to sit outside without a crowd, given the pandemic. The food was a little slow coming out but it was good.
They could use a little help in keeping the grounds of the outdoor dining area clean. It may have just been timing but we had to switch tables when I noticed an army of ants descending on a bread item left under the table. We moved to a different table early-on but if the place had been more crowded that may not have been an option. Suggestion: Check/clean the grounds under table/chairs when clearing tables.
Overall, a good experience. Lots of Parking. Easy to make reservations. Varied menu selection. Indoor/Outdoor tables were well-spaced. I'm sure I'll be back again. Again, we very much appreciate the phone call mentioned above. Thanks.
Brunch but missing items.
