Wonderful food and atmosphere. Time between courses was a little long. Table next to us was quite loud and diminished the experience.
The staff was very professional, the noise level was only moderate, the piano player was very pleasant and the most important the food was excellent!
Our 50th anniversary and our first time at Bernard’s. We could not have picked a better place to celebrate our special day. Great service, ambiance and outstanding cuisine. The 2 1/2 hours of Hanks piano in the background made it even more special.
Thank you Louis for your attentive service.
Terrific dining destination. I hosted dinner out with colleagues from work. I highly recommend this restaurant for special celebrations. Service was perfect. The temperature of my prime sirloin was perfect. The chocolate sampler was delicious.
Great food and great service always a wonderful dining experience.
Food was really nice and the comprehensive wine list is great to pair with the multiple dishes available. However I was disappointed that there was a wedding function on and wasn’t told. As such there was hour and 15 mins void between the starter being collected to main course being brought out. It kind of left a sour taste on the meal as that’s a rather long period of time to wait, plus we weren’t even compensated for it despite having a $300 bill for 3 people. May give another chance as the food was really nice.
The menu is the sort that always has several potential meals that appeal so, unlike many restaurants, you want to return and try yet another combination. Many restaurants have only “one meal” menus. Bernard’s is never a disappointment, so invite a guest!
Best soft shell crab I’ve had in years
Enjoyed our Easter lunch/dinner. The meal was more expensive than we usually have but it was well worth the splurge for the holiday. Will definitely go again!
Unusual offerings. Wonderful presentation, especially the treat at the beginning in half an egg shell. Delicious! Lobster roll with root veggies was fantastic!
Apps and dessert was really good but the mains fail a little short.
We can always be guaranteed a great meal at Bernards
Ambiance and service was excellent. Food was a bit disappointing however. Had a higher expectation for the venture and its reputation and price point. Wine sommelier Niko was knowledgeable. I had the duck and my wife had the beef Wellington. Duck was bony and the Wellington not cooked enough and was too big.
We brought our house guests originally from Greenwich and Darien now living in Virginia Friday evening for dinner since we had been there end of March for our 45th Anniversary. The food was delicious and the service excellent as always. The ambience was lovely due to the pianist who was there previously. He accepted once again requests from my husband and our guests. Made it special and an overall perfect evening!
Fabulous food and service at dinner with a 100% chance we will return for another dinner in the future:)
If you are searching for an exquisite meal, this is the place. The food was delicious and Bernard's has a great wine list.
It was our 45th anniversary and everything from the ambiance, food, and service (waiter was wonderful) we’re wonderful - and the price was reasonable for the quality of the food we ate.
Bernard's never disappoints. It is a quality experience from start to finish. The food is delicious. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is lovely. I want to especially praise the piano player. His choice of music and his performance was top notch. I will be back.
Just a dinner with the family before going to Prospector. It was a great evening with some new items on the menu, different from my last visit a few weeks ago. The staff was very friendly and really helped with catering to my children.
Lovely gracious evening including a wonderful wine list and interesting food.
The wait staff is warm and friendly. The food was cooked to perfection. Although there was a nice size crown, the room never got so loud that background noise was a problem. The presentation of the food was exquisite. We have been to Bernard's several times before and are never disappointed. They consistently serve delicious and well prepared food.
We went for Restaurant Week, which we had done last year. Wonderful meal and service both at Sarah’s Wine Bar for an aperitif and at Bernard’s for our main meal.
This was the second time we've been to Bernard's. We brought our friends with us this round. Every aspect was enjoyed by all.
Bernards is such a lovely spot. Had a wonderful luncheon with three friends. Food delicious, waiter over the tops qualified and it overall wonderful experience. I certainly will be back
Excellent overall experience , food, service and ambiance
It is always a pleasure to visit Bernard's--great food, delicious and beautifully presented, a gracious atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff, and wonderful music at the weekend. Bernard's is our favorite restaurant in the Danbury area, bar none. We were there with friends this week and are returning on our own tonight.
A visit to Bernard's of Ridgefield is always rewarding and memorable. Great food, beautiful presentation and divine, knowledgeable service.
We spent a lovely evening dining at Bernard’s. Great cocktails, excellent wine selection at decent prices, and exquisite cuisine. I loved my home made sausage app, and chicken dinner. My wife unfortunately did not feel the same about her swordfish, since it did not compare to a similar dish at our fave restaurant at the Jersey shore. Otherwise, my rating would be five star all the way. We were staying right next door at the lovely West Lane Inn, also a fabulous place. Pretty dynamite combo if you ask me!
Bernard's is a lovely setting with very nice wait staff and good food. However, I wish we had paid closer attention to other reviews complaining about the slow service. We sat down at 6:30 and did not see our main courses until well after 8:00, probably closer to 8:30. We asked our waiter about why it was taking so long and he didn't have an answer other to say that the kitchen was working on our meals. The restaurant was only about half full on a Saturday night, so it couldn't be that there were too many orders in at one time. When the food finally arrived, the plates were scorching, but the food was just warm. The food was very good but not extraordinary. It was a disappointing birthday dinner. We won't be coming back.
Very good restaurant. My husband had a very good NY prime sirloin, good Bordeaux wine.
My husband and I came in for a nice, romantic meal before going to a show at the playhouse, and we can’t say enough good things about our experience here. The service start to finish was absolutely fantastic, attentive, and overly accommodating. The food was outstanding as well, we very much enjoyed everything we ordered! We look forward to coming back!
As always, the experience was outstanding. The restaurant is very attractive, with elegant decor and a musician playing a very good repertoire in the background, adding to the mood. The food is consistently excellent. My wife and I both had the lamb duo, a combination of rack and shank, which was delicious. I started with a foie gras terrine and my wife with lobster salad, both great choices. The wines by the glass are priced at a reasonable level and the cocktails are well-made. As usual, the service was friendly and very professional. Our server, Chris, was outstanding. Sarah, the co-owner, visited the tables to chat and make sure all was going well.
I would recommend Bernard's to anyone.
As always, the wait staff was great and the chef very accommodating.
Charming location and decor. Welcoming staff, excellent service if somewhat slow but on a holiday such as Valentine's Day who care? Entrees lived up to their billings -only one was of no interest but that's because it included Brussels sprouts. The hostess even handed my lady a red rose as we were departing. Definitely good for return visits.
Bernard's is consistently excellent. We enjoyed dinner on Valentines Day and even though the restaurant was packed the quality of food and the service never wavered. this restaurant is truly a jewel. It never disappoints.
We had a wonderful experience at Bernard’s! Excellent food, wonderful waitress. The Grilled octopus and lobster were my favorite. My husband had the rabbit and loved it too! We left so happy! We haven’t founded the perfect place in town till we were there, all worth! Totally recommend it. It’s a great place to celebrate a special occasion too!
We have dined at Bernard's many times, and they always are at the top of their game. I had elk osso bucco, and my wife had the pheasant stuffed with fois gras. It was a visit to old world elegance where food, service, and discretion are prized. If you want loud, casual dining on trendy food, go elsewhere. Bernard's is a sanctuary.
We are 5 older women, all cousins, that come originally, and still live in the the Westchester area. We love to get together for a special lunch and Bernard’s is the spot for us. It is truly elegant, great food and great service, and we are so happy to have found such a special place. Thanks for everything.

Another very good dinning experience. The food was exceptional with live soft piano music in the background. Service was attentive but slow. There was an exceptionally long wait, about 40 - 50 minutes, between the time the appetizer plates were removed from our table and the entrees were brought. Aside from this lapse, it was a very good dinning experience.
the service was pedestrian but the food was very good.
