The food at Bernard's never disappoints and it's the best food in the area if you care about sophisticated, tasty, seasonal food. It's definitely a bit pricey and that's why we mostly go for special occasions. Sarah's Wine Bar (upstairs) is more reasonable and the food is still good.

Loved it!!! Live piano music was a treat. Food was great. Service was great. Wine list extensive and wait staff was knowledgeable and directed us wisely. Can’t think of a single criticism. Can’t wait to go back.

We eat at Sara’s wine bar all the time which is always very good but when we eat at Bernards we always leave saying this is an excellent restaurant & one of the nest in the area. Food, service & desserts excellent

one of the best restaurants in Ridgefield and all of Fairfield County. Great service, wonderful menu and food. wine list is great with many choices in different price ranges. desserts are fantastic.

Ambiance is beautiful, food was excellent as well as the wait staff. We are new to Ridgefield and Sarah the owner was very hospitable and personally greeted us. Can’t wait to return!

Even allowing for the fact that it was New Years Eve the service was pathetic for a restaurant of this caliber. Really only one server who knows what he’s doing (and unfortunately he wasn’t serving us). It’s. a shame because the poor service completely undermines the delicious food coming out of the kitchen. Also think that $175 not including alcohol for the prix fixe dinner was a bit steep considering the food and the overall experience.

Wish I had thought to ask for the prices on the specials. My salad was $22 for an appetizer!!! The entree version was $18...when I questioned it they said that different scallops were used but honestly I would've ordered the entree size instead. Otherwise it was a nice meal, the food was fresh and good, the service was pretty good. Bernard's is a very nice overall experience.

We found the Beef Wellington to be drowning in gravy. Too much sauce on the pumpkin ravioli as well.
The food was very heavy and not five star as we expected. The owners are lovely but we felt it was overpriced.

My family and I went to Bernard's for Christmas Eve brunch. I had made the reservation 6 days prior to December 24. When I called to make the reservation, I did ask the cost of the brunch. I was told that the menu was not yet available, but that typically brunch ran about $39.00 per person. I felt that that was okay so I proceeded to make the reservation. It was noted that if I cancelled anytime after the 22nd, I would be charged $20.00 per person and we were five people so I did not want to cancel. In any event, we arrived on the 24th only to discover that the cost of the brunch was $95.00 per person. I just about fell off of my chair! It was 2.5X what the person on the phone had mentioned. Perhaps we should have left, but I felt embarrassed and we chose to stay. We did have a delicious meal, but when dessert arrived, we were never asked if we cared for coffee or tea or cappuccino, etc. We had to find someone to ask for that. As well, the waitress began clearing the dessert dishes well before I was finished with eating mine. I feel that a restaurant of this caliber should have better service and should be more up front with the cost of their holiday menus!
