Warmly welcomed, and that was followed up by excellent service throughout the evening. The “best of” menu is extensive. Excellent french onion soup and hands down the best mushroom risotto I have ever had.

We had high expectations, having eaten here several years ago. Food was okay, but nothing special. Ambiance was very nice, but service was terrible. We saw two patrons who ordered soup have to flag down staff to request spoons. We ordered a bottle of wine to go with dinner at the time we placed our orders. First problem was the "Warm Goat Cheese Salad". It was served with ice cold slabs of goat cheese on crostinis. When we questioned the waiter, he agreed it did say "warm" goat cheese and asked if we'd like it warmed. We said yes and he took our crostinis back to the kitchen to be warmed. Appetizers were served and cleared, entrees were served and several minutes had passed, still with no wine. We flagged down the fellow who was serving the rolls (our waiter was nowhere to be found) and requested our wine. Our waiter appeared with our wine glasses (no apologies) and then the barely chilled (tepid) bottle of rose. In the end we had to retrieve the bottle from the bucket to serve ourselves.
The poor service left us with no desire to return, which is a shame since we had such a great experience those many years ago.
We always love going to Bernard’s for its wonderful food and comfortable dining room. Our waiter, Winston is always so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, he is a great addition to the restaurant and a kind person.

We eat at Bernards almost every week because if all the above and the menu is so good. During Covid the out door dining was particularly attractive. Before that we were glad to be able to pick up our dinner by the back door. I must say that Sarah and her team really stood us by from the start of Covid in March 2020. They are a Ridgefield treasure.
Had dinner at Le Grand Colbert in 2019 before the pandemic. Our meal at Bernard's was every bit as good, maybe better. Service was more attentive than Colbert (American in Paris thing). Will make it a regular stop.
Barnard's is a special occasion restaurant. Ambiance is always excellent and service in the past has been professional and spot on. We made reservations for a special event - our anniversary - yet were somewhat disappointed that there was no acknowledgment by our server or management.
Our meal consisted of appetizers and a steak for two which was delicious and cooked perfectly. However, the vegetables served with it (one small bud of broccoli partially burnt and a couple slivers of carrot) were extremely sparse and disappointing. We had ordered french fries but instead received on each plate a couple of home fried potatoes. This was mentioned to the server with an apology and promise to replace them but we passed. Overall, an average experience and not up to expectations.
We went to Bernard's to celebrate a very special birthday. They did not disappoint! We ordered a nice bottle of wine and I had the pumpkinseed crusted roasted cod with butternut squash risotto, brussel sprouts and Chanterelle sauce. My husband had the Long Island Duck Duo of Roasted Breast & Confit Rolls, wild rice & root vegetable tower, sauteed spinach, baby turnips and cherry sauce. Both entrees were beautifully presented and were delicious. We ended with the chocolate tart and a pineapple upside down cake with jackfruit ice cream. Perfect ending to a perfect dinner. There was a guitarist tastefully playing live music which added pleasantly to the overall ambiance. Highly recommend!

Yes you’re going to spend a little money here but it’s worth it. The service was friendly, cozy non- pretentious setting. Everything they make tastes delicious and is presented beautifully. My wife and I have been there several times and never disappointed.

I have been to Bernard's several times and have always had a wonderful meal. Sunday was no exception. The outside dining is terrific...and we had our own heater!. The food never disappoints and the service is always excellent. The only reason I did not rated it exceptional was because some of the shellfish in the bouillabaisse was a little overcooked but the broth was great
Very busy which is terrific news for restaurant business. Clearly having staffing issues as service was not on par with numerous prior visits.
Hands down, this is our favorite restaurant. We have never had a bad meal or a negative experience at Bernard’s. Whether on their gorgeous patio in the garden or their main dining room, the service is attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. And the food? Just delicious! Always perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Favorites include the Tuna Tatare, steak Frites, Chicken Paillard, Cod, Duck or Lamb anything and every dessert. This restaurant does not disappoint.

We had a fabulous dinner experience last night. I enjoy pumpkin seed encrusted cod over risotto. My husband had duck and my son had lobster. Everyone thought their meal was excellent.

Bernard's is great. Food is great. Service timely and with discretion. Nothing to complain about. Sure pricing could perhaps be a bit more competitive, but really? You get what you pay for in this case for sure, and it's well worth a trip for anyone in or outside of Ridgefield to enjoy Bernard's, especially if there is a special occasion warranting a splurge.

Excellent all around..Nice to have some piano music, a class act touch..The salmon special appetizer was super and we loved the bouillabaisse which ever appears on menus these days..We'll be back..This was our first visit since covid began.

We loved our dinner. I reviewed the menu online and was going to order the Halibut but it was not on the menu. I was a little disappointed but tried the trout and it was better than I had anticipated. The house salad was fantastic. I requested olive oil with the delicious olive bread. I prefer stronger olive oil but understand it is a French Restaurant and butter is the priority.
Always an excellent meal and friendly service. We will come again.
