We went there for Brunch on, Fathers Day and it was excellent, Nice enviroment not to many people. Just a good relaxed meal with my family.
One of our favorite restaurants. Always extremely pleased with all aspects.
Absolutely delicious and inspired presentations~ we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with a memorable meal here.
The minute we walked into this restaurant, we knew it would be a special evening. The hostess placed us where I always love to sit. There were flowers adorning the table . The sommelier brought us the bottle of Puligny Montrachet, my favorite. The wait staff served us in a timely manner. Gave us plenty of time to relax and chat between courses. The food itself was presented beautifully and melted in my mouth. Dessert was gratis as was the coffee. They knew it was our 53rd anniversary. I even got a card signed by the staff. I would invite everyone to dine here. It's worth the price just for the ambiance and food alone.
Celebrated my spouse's birthday with friends. Did Chef's tasting and wine pairing. So impressed that they accommodated 2 friends that are Vegan and 2 are vegetarian. The chef prepared a special menu and Terri, the Sommelier paired wines specific to their food. Service led by Luis was over the top, never skipping a beat and accommodating some last minute changes. Food was incredible and the wines were perfectly matched. The entire experience was perfect and felt that there was nothing to improve on. Thank you to everyone at the Bernard's Inn. Outstanding!
They made our 75th birthdays special with birthday cards signed by the staff and birthday desserts
We have eaten here many times over the years. The wait staff is always pleasant and well informed about the menu. Our dinner was excellent. The kitchen split a salad for us, the appetizer mussels were excellent as were the scallops we had for our entree. We will definitely dine here again.
We decided to try the Bernardsville Inn for Sunday brunch. Since it was our first time there we went with an open mind. We were a bit early for our reservation but the hostess had no problem seating us as soon as a table was set. Our waitress , who's name i do not recall, came over and took our drink orders a few minutes after we sat. We made our brunch selections and sat back relaxing. Everything came out fine. Eggs Benedict for me girlfriend, and steak and eggs for myself. At one point when our drinks needed refilling since our waitress was no where in sight, our order was taken by another waitress who happened to be setting a table close by and had noticed that we were looking for refills. Her name was Wendy. Our drink order was brought to us by our original waitress who had come back from doing whatever had taken her away at the time. This happened twice. it felt like we were not exactly on our waitress list of tables to be aware of. Wendy on the other hand, even though we were not officially her table, took a few minute to chat and make us feel welcome. Overall over food was very good and the pace unhurried. Which, after all, is what a Sunday brunch should be. Should we go back again I am pretty certain that we will ask for Wendy as our server, and try something different off the menu.
Great place for a date!
Very quiet and comfortable with good food well presented and well served.
Solid, high quality food and service. Great ambiance but expensive for what you get.
Everything was great. Plenty of wines by the glass. Ahi tuna app was very good as were the scallops! Expensive but worth it and great service. Not pushy but always keeping an eye out.
Overall excellent experience. Tasting menu and wine pairings was superb. Food and service was top notch, Andrea was highly knowledgeable about the food and the wine. She coordinated the wait staff to anticipate all of our needs. Highly customer focused. Love that we could have a quiet conversation and enjoy our meal and wine. Wonderful experience- highly recommend Bernard's Inn they never disappoint!
Our granddaughter’s 21st birthday. We were five with her two brothers. The setting is gracious, and the food was excellent, if overpriced for the area. However, the waitress who took our order was never to be seen again. I had to ask the assistance waiters for another glass of wine, more bread, etc. They were excellent. One of them explained the menu, and was extremely proud of his position and took his duties seriously. All in all it was a lovely place for a special occasion.
First time dining here (after living in the area for 25 years). Excellent on all fronts. Definitely will be back!
It was my wife's and my anniversary and we enjoyed our evening at the Bernards Inn very much. We'll likely do it again in the future.
An outstanding experience; I know what the quality ought to be and it never disappoints.
The Mother's Day brunch this past Sunday was disappointing. The decor of the dining rooms is tired and dowdy. The overpriced fixed price buffet brunch was mediocre. Stale rolls and bagels, tasteless desserts, flabby French toast. My tiny 4 ounce mimosa was an extra $12. Valet parking was very slow and amateurish. Will not return.
Mother’s Day bring. Too much for what it is.
Restaurant did not indicate on open table that they only had a buffet
Lovely brunch in a peaceful setting.
Great place to dine any occasion
The food, service and ambiance at the Bernards Inn can’t be matched. Dave and his staff are phenomenal.
An excellent dining experience based on exceptional food and service in a lovely atmosphere.
This has been our favorite place for years and this time was no exception. The food was delicious and the service impeccable.
Great place for a nice evening out. A very nice old school restaurant with superior service.
My wife and I came to Bernards Inn for dinner. on Saturday. From the time we walk in the staff was amazing. Our waitress was outstanding. Her name was Wendy and her customer service skills were exceptional. She made us feel so welcome and gave us great tips about the menu. We will be back back for dinner or brunch in the future.
The food was not all as good as I expected. We were there for the Prix-Fixe dinner - the mushroom soup was cold and tasteless. The ham entree was excellent but portions were small. Dessert was good. Our service was excellent so it is a shame that the meal did not meet the excellence of the service.
Easter 3-course prix fixe
Service was attentive and friendly, but not overbearing.
Home-baked raisin bread was killer as was the mushroom soup.
The filet was cooked to perfection. Sauteed onion pepper topping had just the right hint of spice. Veggies (creamed spinach and potato points) were very good.
Cocktails tasty, but not exceptional.
Dessert was a let down:
Rice pudding was peculiarly over-spiced and home-made pistachio ice cream also had an unusual flavor/ingredient. Chocolate was very good, though.
Overall, pleasant. But I've had far better meals for $300. This will probably be a one-time only, though I may try the Sunday buffet.
Went for Easter brunch. Loved the food selection, ambiance and service. So kid and consistent choice.
An elegant room and a very well planned menu!
For the price food was subpar. wine list overpriced for new jersey.
Wonderful food! Can't wait to go back!
Haven't been here in years, but went for BF's birthday. Wow, the food is EXCELLENT! So is the service! He had mushroom soup, little gem salad, and cavatelli with crab. I had tuna tartare, Caesar salad, and swordfish. Bread was top notch, a telling point in a restaurant. Usually I pass but I couldn't resist. Excellent wine list. At the end of the meal they brought out some desert with a candle and a birthday card signed by our waiter and the heads of all the staff in the inn! WOW!!! What a personal touch. My only complaint, if it is that, is the bar is right next to the restaurant and can get noisy. But once we got a drink and settled in we didn't really notice it. We highly recommend this restaurant and will DEFINITELY be back, the sooner the better!!
My wife and I dine in New York many times, however, if we decide to eat in New Jersey (we live in Princeton, NJ), and want a “New York Experience, we only visit the Bernards Inn. The food is always outstanding, the wine selection is remarkable and the service is excellent. My wife had duck and I had pork loin. Each meal was done to perfection. Since we were eating a different meal, the sommelier helped us choose a wine that would be an excellent choice to pair with our main dishes. Her choice was perfect. Whenever we celebrate a special event or want to have dinner with special friends, this is our go to restaurant. The Bernard Inn has been consistently outstanding for the past 10 years.
Nothing special. Tried so hard to like it. We used to frequent at Bernards Inn, just 2 miles from us, it was like our kitchen with Ed Stone as the chef but it was going down since. Been coming here every now and then but Friday night was nothing special. The foie gras with French toast underneath was so soggy, I thought it was wet cotton gauze. Did not eat it. My husband ate his $54.00 8oz Filet mignon. I had for my main course was scallops. They gave me 4 scallops and scattered it on a rectangular plate with some kind of sauteed cabbage. Scallops were sandy. I did not complaint for we just want to end the evening. we did not order dessert but cappuccino. It was drafty too. Sorry to be candied but can't help it.
The Bernards Inn never disappoints. The food, service and ambiance are first rate. We went for our anniversary but would recommend it for any occasion or just dinner. I would also recommend the bar.
Great. Love this place
