Paying $20 for bottomless mimosa seems pricy but it is worth it. one mimosa is $12 and the glass is small.
First time at this restaurant and happy to say everything was excellent, from appetizers to desserts. Entrees were expertly prepared and delicious (scallops for my wife and duck for myself). Service was attentive but not obtrusive, and our waiter complimented us with a free dessert when he was late getting a drink, so that was appreciated.
As always, a beautiful dining experience.
Place was great. Everything good.
Overall a very pleasant experience. I would have preferred a more extensive menu, but that's on me, as I didn't realized it was Sunday afternoon brunch menu. The selection was still good enough, and we managed to enjoy everything. We will definitely be back to experience the dinner menu. Thank you.
We celebrated Valentines Day on the day before because usually Valentines Day is busy with a special (limited ) menu. It was perfect! I asked for a quiet table, and we had a nice corner table in a small room away from the bar. Nice choice of starters and entree, amazing wine list - seriously most extensive I have ever seen.
We enjoyed a quiet Sunday evening dinner at Bernards Inn, both dishes were exceptional, I highly recommend the gnocchi, light and delicious, perfectly prepared. My wife had the scallops and loved every bite. The wine list is extensive, if your not well versed on your wine choices it can be overwhelming. Service was friendly and attentive, but not too much. For a fine dining experience we expected the pricing to be expensive, altogether we found it to be worth the price, especially for special occasions.
Food was delicious! Service excellent!
Food and ambiance was great. Service was marginal. Servicer was new. I asked. She was pleasant. However, she did not check in at all after food was served. I had to ask another member of the servicing team to poor our wine which was chilling in the wine bucket. Will be back because of the food. Hope service improves.
Wonderful work lunch with colleagues.
Lobster avocado toast was absolutely unbelievable! Such a refined dining experience.
The food was truly exceptional...we had some time pressure and they accommodated without making us feel rushed..excellent evening!
Fabulous piano player! Wonderful food! Romantic!
Under construction currently, but still very much worth it!
Poor service, tasteless omelet un eatable sausages. We never had a refill of coffee, expensive for cafeteria level food. Very disappointed.
Wonderful service ! Outstanding meal. The duck breast was awesome. Beautifully decorated for Christmas
Sunday brunch was very pleasant. The food, eggs and French toast, was very good and the service was excellent.
Great meal and service. The pace was excellent and we enjoyed every bit of a full meal.
Issue was the table location. They sat us right next to the bar area - totally void of personality or warmth unlike the rooms in the rear. Noise level was very high and they might have just as easily sat us in the bar.
Very disappointing to have that occur when your paying those kinds of prices.
Just a recommendation - let people know in advance where they will be seated. It really undid the evening
Our holiday lunch with friends at the Bernardsville Inn was tasty and relaxing. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome. The staff were attentive. We ate in the back dining room which was quiet and peaceful. It is decorated in a grand style, yet still feels casual enough to be comfortable. The food was good, but not outstanding. We will certainly return.
Amazing. Perfect could not of been better. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing service and top notch food.
We always enjoy the Inn and our experiences there have always been first rate. On this visit, the food, as always was outstanding, but the service was not good at all. It was clear our server was very distracted. It appeared that she had a trainee and she spent a lot of time with her. We ordered drinks, and we could see them sitting on the bar, but not being served to us. We asked for more bread, more than once. That should not happen. While it will none of this is really a big deal, a first time patron may be really turned off by it.
Superb food and an elegant yet lively atmosphere make this an enjoyable spot for us to visit when we are in town visiting family and crave some special time just the two of us.
Always a pleasure to do business at the Bville Inn. Great service and atmosphere.
I would recommend dinner for a special occasion, and we also enjoy just going for a cocktail at the bar and listening to the piano music on occasion, sometimes ordering a cheeseboard to nibble with our drinks. The staff is friendly, but be aware it is an upscale atmosphere and prices. Valet parking on weekends is a plus. The only thing I would add is that typically at restaurants of this caliber, they usually present some type of complimentary amuse before your app or a complimentary small sweet treat with your check. The Bernards Inn does not. Not a big deal, just something I noticed.
We ended up in the bar area which was much more fun than the dining area!
This place never gets old. They deliver on the food, ambiance, service, and cocktails every time!
Very good food. Very nice place. Will go back.
The food was excellent and the service was very good as well. The adjoining bar area is a great place for a drink before or after your meal.
This was a great dining experience, like so many others here at the inn.
Definitely not the same as in the past. Recall strict dress code where gentlemen were required to wear a jacket at minimum but now they allow jeans and baseball hats. Kills the mode. Sometimes you just want a fine dining experience where you can enjoy being dressed.
This is our second visit to Bernards Inn. The first one about a year ago. The Inn is very close to the movie theater, making it an easy "one parking" night for a movie and dinner.
There is a certain relaxing ambiance, which coupled with subdued-but-efficient service provided for a delightful experience.
Bead with soft butter was provided. I chose the Lobster Bisque as an appetizer. Excellent. Maybe the best I've ever had--and I order it a lot. Bernards Inn's is creamy and has a wonderfully strong flavor of lobster. Not always the case. My partner had a Caesar Salad, which was lightly dressed and large enough to share. I had the Cavatelli and my partner had the Short Ribs. Both were well enjoyed. Although tempted, we skipped desert.
We certainly will not wait another year to come here again.
A most pleasurable dining experience!
Our stay @ the Bernards Inn was outstanding. We have already recommended the Inn and the dining experience to friends. Food and service, accompanied on SAT night by excellent piano entertainment was ideal and delicious.
Birthday dinner it was great
Awesome service they makes the delicious food say thank you for making Bernards Inn the sweet spot in a quiet place.
I thought that I was going to cabaret night. I dined at the restaurant a few weeks & noticed a sign for cabaret night so I made a reservation. Unfortunately the poster that was in the center of the lobby made no mention of having to make the reservation thru the special events office or that the event was in another part of the inn. Instead we had dinner right next to the piano because I had requested that location but there was no piano player because of cabaret night so we had dinner in silence with a server that had a terrible attitude & made numerous mistakes that included serving drinks, utensils,& food to the wrong people every time. I was entraining clients & this was very embarrassing. When the mixup regarding cabaret night was brought to the attention of a manager she made a very weak apology. We were all so shocked at the insincerity we were all speechless.
Returned to the Bernards Inn for our Anniversary Dinner and had a great evening. Enjoyed listening to the Piano Player in the Bar before dinner and then a delicious dinner in the Dining Room. We both had Maine Diver Scallops which were excellent! Very sweet of them to wish us Happy Anniversary in writing in a card and on our dessert plate. A fun romantic dinner overall!
One tip for the Manager. Your Restaurant appeared to be sold out except for an 8:30pm dinner reservation which we opted to select. However, when we arrived we were told there were plenty of available tables and we could be seated right away. We chose to wait a bit, however, you almost lost our business had we not decided 8:30pm was fine for us. Many other NJ diners would have passed and you had many available tables. I suggest sorting this out with OpenTable for bookings.
We had a nice experience overall. They had a nice piano player, we could only get an 8:30 pm réservation, so at the end of our dinner they started to move the tables in our section and that was a bit disturbing without this they would have gotten all 5 stars otherwise.
