Great shareable small plates. Mood lighting on point. Good place for a date night meal.

Cool hang-out place

Get the burger! So yummy. We stopped in before a show at Slims and really enjoyed our meal. Not a huge menu, but food is inventive and well done. Plus during happy hour there's a specialty cocktail for only 7 bucks.

Cool place, not ideal for a sit down dinner. More of a lounge, very few tables, we sat at the bar and had a great experience. Food was really good, music was a little loud for dinner (8:30pm on a Thursday).

We love to try new places and this was on our list. While the food was great, the menu was limited if you are a fussy eater. We had some small edits to the menu and the chef was fine with our changes. We will definitely come again, but eat a late snack since we were pretty hungry later on.

Bergerac could be a cool place to hang out for drinks, but the service was nonexistent, the food was so so, the cocktails were awful, and there was a DJ blasting music despite the place being nearly empty, and the kitchen closed at 9 pm.

This place spills

Went there to have a drink and some food before a show at Slim's. If that's your plan, the location can't be beat. The host and waitress did a very good job and the food was tasty, if not slightly overpriced for the small plates, emphasis on small. I came with a date and it was way too loud to have a conversation. Even our waitress couldn't hear us when we were asking questions and ordering. It seems like a good place for a group of friends, but not a good spot to have a pleasant conversation or to get to know someone.

I had a business group of 15 there. At Bergerac that put us in a square of a couch and chairs. There was only seating for 12 and at one point the maitra d asked one of my guests to get out of his chair and gave it to the table next to our group - didn't offer to get a new chair - just 'we need your chair'. When I complained they brought over a new chair from still another table- hmm - might have been a good idea for the other table. When I said "I had a reservation for 15 and I got seating for 12" I got a 'not really our problem - we just give you a square of seating not a seat count'. In addition it took 10-15 minutes to get our first drink order (after ordering) and the server spill our appetizers on the table. Service was uniquely bad.

I went for the live music and comfortable, yet electric scene. One can always find a spot to their liking with Bergerac's mix of comfy sofas, high tables and quiet corners. The staff and drink menu are outstanding. What surprises, however, is the taste explosion and quality of the food from a bar menu that first appears to be limited and mundane. An outstanding find for a quiet Wednesday night or great meal and drinks on a Friday before heading upstairs to the club.

Pretty good, but a little too loud. There was a live band that was pretty good, but the volume was so loud the music was difficult to appreciate.

My first few visits to Bergerac when it was new and 'fresh' were great. However, this trip was a miss all the way around. Starting as soon as we entered w/our greeting who turned out to be our table server. If you don't like your job, you should really just quit. Why pass off your suffering to the patrons who come w/their hard earned money to have to catch your negative vibes? Not fair. Not to mention the rest of the evenings service 'performance' was off on all levels...even when we did give up on the table service and went to the bar to fetch our own drinks....'tude and timing was equally abysmal.

Blasting club music at 8pm is a little ridiculous. Could barely hear myself think nonetheless talk with my party. Good food bad service.

The music is so loud that you cannot hear a thing. I am surprised this is on open table because the food is bar munchies not really a spot to have dinner. The music is good but if you want to have a conversation with your date forget this place!

I did like the cocktail selection but this place is more of a pre dinner watering hole than a place to sit down and eat.

We were the first ones there - date night without kids - having a reservation wouldn't of mattered. We sat at the bar. Friendly bartenders, really top notch cocktails. High end bar food - we had deviled eggs, sliders, pizzette. All very good and reasonable. Great spot if you don't need a large meal but want to have a little bite and some nice drinks before heading out or after being out. Bartender comp'd us a drink since we don't get out much. First time there, so it was especially nice.

Actually had reservations here on a Saturday night for a friends 40th. 7 of us arrived at 8:15 and were seated promptly. Ashley, our server came over immediately and took our drink order. I wasn't sure what to expect after the other negative reviews but our drinks came out within 10 minutes or less after we ordered them. We left around 10pm because we had reservations at another spot. GREAT place!

Very fun bar, great music and energetic people.

We had a reservation but when we arrived, there were no service people at the door or close by. The place was very full. We noticed an empty table in the corner so we decided to sit down. We noticed a couple of servers and tried to get eye contact, but no one came to see us for 10 minutes. I finally flagged one down and asked for menus. Someone else eventually brought us water. After that, we were waiting for more than 20 minutes for someone to take our drink and food order. No one came, despite attempts at trying to get the servers' attention. We had had enough and left. It's unfortunate because we heard the drinks at this place were great, but we won't be going back.

Awesome bar and lounge with great cocktails and ambiance

Great and unusual drinks, fun to experiment. Helpful, energetic service staff. They're also very informative and accommodating for Gluten-Free concerns..their sliders are delicious, for exampe. They offered to serve half the appetizers on buns and the other half in tiny lettuce wraps -- brilliant! Everyone got to enjoy the experience

NOTE: They're *adamant* about opening at 5pm, not before. So don't come before then if you're trying to celebrate after leaving work early. It was a little silly to stand outside the open front door until precisely 5, but once in it was a delightful experience. A better customer service approach would have been keep the door closed or welcome us to sit for a few minutes while they prep other areas.

Good food and great service. Mellow crowd and music. Great meeting spot before a big event or after work. I felt like I was in a NY style bar or speakeasy that had a chill SF crowd. Would love to come back again!

The service was outstanding and they made our night very special. We were a large party but the waiter was patient and attentive and the food came quickly. Everyone was accommodating from the manager to the bartenders to all the waiters. I will definitely be going back.

I am not sure why this place is called a restaurant when it is really a bar with a limited food menu. Their food is ok but their cocktails are the highlight. The waitress was over attentive to the point of being annoyed and overly persistent that we order as if there were people waiting. I guess I should have noticed that the place was dead at 8 pm - the usual dinner hour - and packed for drinks at 10. I would go back for drinks but not for food.

More of a bar/lounge than a restaurant- I wouldn't come here if you're starving but the food menu should not be ignored. Everything we tried was delicious but the portions are a bit on the smaller side so we had to order about 2/3 each. The cocktails are all very well balanced and complex and the decor in this place is top notch. Highly recommend to grab drinks and a light bite. There's also a nightclub upstairs should you feel so inclined.
