Always a great place to have a good meal for any occasion. Lunch and dinner are both favorites. It is a good adult dining experience.
I ate in the bar because I was by myself and football on TV. The bartender was GREAT although the martinis were a little small. Shrimp cocktail was a little bland but the steak was awesome and cooked perfectly.
Despite knowing the number of reservations for Christmas Eve, they were still behind (server said kitchen was slammed), steaks were under cooked (rare vw. Medium) and service was harried and rushed. They forgot the prearranged Birthday recognition. Just a major disappointment and not a good experience.
I am so sorry to hear you are closing. We will miss the great meals. You were our favorite restaurant in North County.
Very good. We are sorry they are closing. ENJOYED IT!
We celebrated a friend's birthday and we took advantage of the Sunday/Monday specials. It's always wonderful and such a bargain. So sorry that it's closing
Great food and atmosphere
Enjoyable experience
Wonderful wait staff
Seating was prompt, service was even prompter. This is one of the most outstanding restaurants in Encinitas and the only real Steak House in the area. Prices are reasonable, ambiance is very pleasant. There is no clattering of dishes, loud chatter or loud music. Very easy to carry on a conversation. Was there last year for my 80th Birthday Party in a private room. Very very enjoyable.
Seated quickly! Nice quiet area of restaurant. Service was quick, nice wine list and all courses were brought quickly. Prime rib special was very nice and cooked to perfection and exactly as we ordered. Loved the horseradish sauce was excellent. The place was full the whole time we were there. Bentley’s would be lovely place to celebrate any occasion.
We have been to this restaurant about 30 times. For the first time we found our meat undercooked and had to send it back. Also, I reserved a quiet table for hearing impaired but we were put next to a huge family with little screaming kids running around.
Mrs and I enjoyed a drink at the bar while waiting for our table, talking with other friendly patrons. Table was ready when expected. Our server, Eric, was always attentive and helpful. Our meal was well prepared. Great overall experience.
We all had Bentleys Thanksgiving Day Feast. It was spectacular. I brought some home
and had to share the next day. Bummer. Seriously, we enjoyed each and every morsel.
We will go again. Thanks to Tom & a wonderful staff. Neal & Shorty
Great food, great service at reasonable prices- great location too!!! Jennifer makes every experience an elegant one!!
We request a specific booth and they do their best to accommodate us!
My prime arrived cold and was thin & at least 30% fat!
I don't appreciate being seated in the back with the lights up high when there are better tables with better ambience available, but the food was good (salmon was slightly over done) and the service was above average.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, great food choices and customer service, great venue for romantic dining or group meetings, they have a room for larger parties and the outdoor dining space is quite enchanting. Great wine selection and prices were very reasonable.
Service was great...Food was very good....Steak House classics at a Fair price..
hadn't been in a couple years and very pleasantly surprised by the value and service, plus very friendly and accommodating, will go back again
Bentley's is my go to restaurant. I feel so comfortable and the choices on the menu are great!
Very nice ambience inside or out. Nice wine list too. The service is excellent!
The food was not what you would expect for the high prices they charge. I ordered crab legs and they had no flavor. The fettuccine tasted like the bell peppers and there were only 3 shrimp! The service was slow and for an upscale steakhouse the waitress could have been more professional and attentive. Overall experience we will not be returning and not be recommending to friend or family.
Excellent meal and service. First class all around.
Love the burgers-the quality of the meat is outstanding!
We had their special Sunday night prime rib dinner. For the same price of their hamburger, you get a nice size prime rib, mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies - a great value! We sat on the patio and the service was perfect (attentive yet not too much). I'd definitely recommend Bentley's and hope to go there again soon.
At a very great dining experience, Sunday prices are very low food is very good. Service is wonderful and attentive.
The ambience is great, subtle and quiet. I can't tell you how superb the service is and she attended to our every need. And I will return again and again especially for their Sunday and Monday specials. The little ahi chips were tasty as was the calamari strips (despite the addition of unnecessary vegetables). Two members ordered the steak that was perfect. Two of us ordered the prime rib that was tough and sinewy. And, as usual, the vegetables were underdone and difficult to cut much less eat. But the potatoes were delicious. I suppose one out of three on our plate isn't too bad considering the price. But next time, I'll just order a plate of potatoes.
Went for date night and had a great time. The restaurant it self was beautifully decorated and the staff was very attentive and helpful. The wine selection by the glass was average although it was ample if you wanted to buy a bottle. The mix drinks were good. The only reason for this establishment not receiving a perfect 5/5 was the food. Overall the food was good although my main entree, the 14oz Chicago Ribeye, left something to be desired in the taste department. My wife ordered the 10oz Filet Mignon which was delicious. Our appetizer, the paper wrap shrimp, was also great. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely visit again.
We love Bentley’s. Their Sunday/Monday special pricing is such a deal, and the food is always exceptional. Just tried their clam chowder, which was wonderful, and all of their sauces are excellent. Eric was our waiter this time, and he made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommend!
Restaurant is easy to find and there is always more than adequate parking. Very pleasant ambiance, excellent steak prepared just as ordered. Very attentive server. I’ve never been disappointed here.
Great Sunday/Monday special menu. The filet was perfect, mashed potatoes light and yummy and vegetables done just right. We have gotten the spinach salad previously; however, just enjoyed some wine and bread before our main course on this night. Service was great and had a very enjoyable night out.
Bentley's is nestled in a shopping center where Encinitas/Olivenhain/Rancho Santa Fe come together. Originally this location and building was a Marie Callender's and when Bentley's took this location over it was remodeled and turned it into a steak and chop house. The parking is excellent. The restaurant has very nice patio seating at the front entrance and inside you'll be welcomed by the cozy atmosphere. Service and food are very good and the Sunday special dinners of filet mignon, prime rib and Atlantic salmon (if you accept farmed fish) are an excellent value at $15.95. Since I abstain from eating any farmed fish, including shellfish, I order the beef if I'm taking advantage of the specials, which is always of a very high quality. I have also had their rack of lamb which is excellent. The special Sunday dinners are restricted to mashed potatoes and vegetables with no substitutions allowed as far as potatoes. The vegetables should be cooked a bit more and served hot. Bread is an individual brown loaf and the whipped butter that is served is my only complaint on quality at Bentley's, as it's highly aerated, which is usually a cost-saving practice at a restaurant—so I always bring my own unsalted European butter. Give Bentley's a try if you haven't already, I believe overall you'll be very pleased.
Our rez started with our family of four and exponentially grew to a party of 12. The restaurant was so accommodating and our party was actually seated in a separate room. This was probably a good idea on their part because we were quite loud. We all opted for the restaurant week menu which was amazing. My son picked the spinach and mango salad but he didn't want the almonds, cranberries and dressing so I just mentioned to our waitress that he usually orders Caesar salad and is really not that picky with salads. She said that it is their policy not to allow substitutions to a prix fixed menu and that was completely understandable. But when she brought his salad, lo and behold it was a Caesar salad! How nice was that to serve a 10 year his favorite salad? It was beyond appreciated. The rest of the night was so enjoyable and we all were very satisfied with our dinner experience. Our bill included a 20% gratuity and we all agreed our waitress earned it! I wouldn't hesitate to come back and recommend Bentleys to everyone.
We visited Bentley's for San Diego Restaurant Week and were very happy with everything. Our service was amazing, our reservations were ready right on time, our food was delicious. The prices were a bit high, had we ordered off of the regular menu but were informed about a Sunday & Monday special that we will definitely be back for. Over all I would give it a 9 out of 10 and highly recommend anyone taking the time to try Bentley's!
Ambience: really nice, comfortable and quiet.
Food: good but stingy. A $40 meal where they have a $1 charge to upgrade from mashed potatoes to a baked potato. And the fillet mignon came with rice OR vegetables.
Service: Bad, but it was just our waitress Jennifer. Even thought we asked, she would not bring us the bread to munch while we waited for starters. When the starter did eventually arrive, my soup must have been sitting around for a while because it had already formed a skin on top. Desert took forever to be delivered; so long that a different waitress brought it to us because she had seen it sitting around. This waitress also went and got us our coffee. Goodness knows what Jennifer was doing.
Went for SDRW. Excellent food
Fantastic meal! We visited the restaurant during San Diego Restaurant Week to celebrate our anniversary. We weren't disappointed! The shrimp bisque and melt in your mouth filet mignon were superb. We will definitely return.
My boyfriend and I went for restaurant week. We had a reservation for 5pm on Monday so it was really quiet when we arrived but was filling up when we left. He had a t-bone and I had the prime rib. Both were excellent. Restaurant week was a great way to try Bently's and I'm sure we'll be back. They have a good Sunday/Monday deal and a list of burgers I want to try. They have a nice bar and a lot of outdoor seating.
The atrium room was noisy! There was a child that was behaving like he was at the park. Parent lacking skills & not the fault of the restaurant. Next time we'll ask to be moved!
Since we go to Bentley's often we ordered our usual meals (prime rib/filets) and the meal was good. I think we had a new server (Emma) as she was a bit slow, forgot items, gave us the bill before offering dessert. This can be changed with a bit more experience. I'm sure she will be fine.
This is the first time I have been to Bentley's for dinner and we enjoyed it very much.
We don't cook steak at home--so it was a special treat.
It was our anniversary and we got a yummy piece of cheesecake to share.
Our table was inside, next to the window, so we had a view of the beautiful patio.
This was our first and last trip to Bentleys. There was 5 of us, the food was only fair and the cocktails were way overpriced and certainly not a generous pour. One of the steaks was tough and the lamb was seasoned when we asked for no seasoning. Our check reflected the price of dining at Morton's or Mastro's but not the quality. Our server was very good on the other hand.
