Excellent fish Very good wine and always efficient and nice service.
We were initially disappointed as we were seated downstairs in the bar (no option to specify online where you want to sit), which was a nice space if you want a lively and noisy atmosphere, but has a different kitchen apparently and we wanted to be able to speak to each other - plus a draught from the door was cold. It took some negotiation with the very polite waiting staff to get a table upstairs, and after that, we had a very nice time. Native oysters and dover sole was delicious (although too much lemon sauce on the sole- maybe ask waitress to leave some in the jug), and creme brulee also really good. Overall a lovely experience.
The food was delicious, but they needed the table free for the next customers... so we had to go...
Excellent food and delightful restaurant set in a traditional style. Some of the best seafood I have tasted anywhere. Good location for eating before a show.
Best Dover sole I’ve ever had! We had it meunière-style and were not disappointed! Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but ended up being worth every penny! Best Dover sole I’ve ever had! We had it meunière-style and were not disappointed! Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but ended up being worth every penny!
The lobster pasta was very disappointed!!! We had to send back. P
Oyster and scallops always the best
Some of the best fish in London with great service and old fashioned ambience. Not cheap but worth that special event.
This is not a cheap evening but lovely, the staff were great especially the way they catered for my non dairy eating partner.
I would happily recommend them
Perfect in every way. Loved it
I have been going to Bentley's for 40 years and it has only gotten better. I love the "Small Bites" option on the menu--I had the scallops and they were superb--perfectly cooked in a light sauce. The main course was an excellent lobster in pasta, followed by a lovely, light salad, and finishing up with a perfect Crème Brulee. In a world of fast food, bad manners, and hustle and bustle, Bentley's is an oasis!
My husband and daughter took me to Bentley's for an early birthday/mother's day celebration. I had been craving oysters, and boy did they deliver.
And while, not a children's restaurant, they spoiled my 8-year old! First, they took her to see all the oysters and then sent her a free 1/2 doz! Which (proudly) she ate for the first time. They also crafted her a speciality mocktail.
For me they gave my husband and I an extra glass of wine as well as a complimentary dessert. The service couldn't have been better and oh my the food! Will definitely go back.
Fabulous food and wine ! I prefer the booth seats we were on a very small table this time which wasn’t as pleasant as our last visit .
Pre theatre meal. Had a super fish pie but had to keep a hurry up on the staff to get to the show on time.
nice seafood, italian style of service, funny ans d polite
Too noisy... Too undesirable to serve and to help the client to feel better...I asked more than five times to close the curtains as it was cold from the same waiter and he left it again! Just like talking to the paw...
We were sitting near a noisy family that made us feel stressed as their children were listening too loud videos and they were moving too violent through our too close tables!! I couldn’t hear my friends talking and I felt stressed while trying to avoid any accident because of our neighbors and the waiters unlikely to help us with the cold...
The prices too high for the quality..
Service fine. Wine list very good. Entrées good. Main course poor.
Food was amazing but I felt very uncomfortable about waiters attitude when I ask for a lobster soup after my main course has been ordered , I mean I have a big appetite , I like to eat like no rules , his reaction just make me felt not nice at all
It was the first date with this guy and obviously we were both quite tense, the staff was extremely discrete and they let us enjoy that first dinner without many interruptions.
The food was simply divine and we’ve never been left with empty glasses.
When we were about to leave I realised my scarf was missing and the girl from the wardrobe took some time to go back upstairs where she found it under our table.
It was such a magic night!
This is the second time my husband and I have eaten at Bentley's. It was very busy and as the tables are very close together, it's difficult not to hear other people's conversations as well as them hearing yours!
The choice of food was excellent and our chosen dishes were delicious. For my starter I had the eel, bacon and horseradish followed by lobster spaghetti, which was super. My husband had the same starter followed by the fish pie which he confirmed was excellent.
Our bottle of wine was reasonably priced and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable lunch.
We visited on a Sunday evening and were very disappointed with the food. The starter a shell fish cocktail was drowning in Sauce which overpowered the flavour of the shell fish. The rack of lamb was nicely cooked but was very chewy and the side order of greens Was sent back opting for spinach instead that wasn’t much better.
In all I don’t think the food was of a good enough quality and was therefore overpriced.
Usually it’s great. The staff were not really on it this time round.
Tables VERY close together, food "ok" but certainly not worth the money. We were in Kaspars the night before and it was more expensive but very good quality and well worth the difference.
Wonderful food and excellent service. The staff made it a very special occasion.
Excellent food, lovely atmosphere. Best to be seated at or in the bar.
Stunning place tucked away from the hustle and bustle of central London. The service here is impeccable, the staff are all about attention to detail to the point if you drop your napkin and are oblivious to this they will have picked up on it and brought you another.
The oysters are to die for. Amazing quality and such a variety. The seafood dishes are sublime.
We will be back now that we know where it is.
Love Bentleys Oyster Bar. Always great food, great atmosphere and great service. Highly recommend
The service was attentive to start with but we had to wait an absurdly long time for our main courses to arrive. The food was good but not memorable. All in all, we were disappointed having gone with high expectations after previous visits.
Poor food and very much overpriced. (Valentines Day!)
Booked the Valentines special at £85 a head. With a couple of glasses of wine, water and coffee the bill was about £230.
The portions were miserly. Dover sole turned out to be two tiny roulades with a smear of lobster mousse in each. Carpaccio of beef was a red smear.
Possibly the most disappointing meal I have eaten in London.
I suggest you avoid this place and eat at JSheekey - I wish I had.
Excellent food, good wine, very helpful, efficient and friendly staff
Too few high quality London restaurants offer good authentic British food, which is always a must for visitors. Bentley's also offers the best native oysters in London, and a good wine list. I will go again each time I visit London.
This was my second visit to Bentley’s and how enjoyable. My daughter and I arrived early at noon as we were going to an exhibition. Seated immediately and staff attentive and knowledgable. The eel, bacon and beetroot starter was wonderful and the fish pie lovely. My daughter was equally complementary of her octopus and chorizo starter and red mullet main. I love the old style atmosphere and will be booking to take my sister here for her birthday later in the year. I must say I prefer it to Sheekeys (and am very fond of that as well!
Fantastic service, amazing oysters. We felt slightly rushed when we arrived but overall it was a great night.
The service was excellent. Oysters and fish pie terrific. Unfortunately the Dover sole was over cooked.
We had an absolutely marvellous evening. Service , food and location were perfect.
Overall a good experience at Bentley. Booking was hassle-free and once arrived we were led to our reserved table. Fairly good selection of food options and extensive wine list.
Lobster Bisque that we ordered were more tomato-based than what we would expect. Was hoping for more a more creamy soup! Nonetheless, it tasted good. We ordered the grilled lobster, cod fish and fish grill. The lobster was outstanding and the rest were good. We had the Cotes du Rhone Shiraz, recommended by the in-house wine connoisseur, and it did not disappoint. Smooth and fruity and finishes elegantly.
The restaurant is quiet at around 7pm when we arrived and got busier at about 8pm. Overall the ambiance is suitable for a quiet gathering or discussion (perhaps ask for a corner table or come early) and lots of couple tables as well.
Wonderful food. Great location. Wine list excellent. However the service was poor and found the staff offhand.
Cosy and smart venue tucked away behind Piccadilly. Excellent service and a go-to place for fish fans. Extremely expensive though!
Breads and special butter was really nice!
Every food was soooo fresh!
But main food was little bit salty and the table was so cramped.
