Service here is exemplary, as in the entire Grand Hotel. Our friends enjoyed the Korean Chicken wraps, quesadilla, crab cakes. Tips not melt in your mouth tender though very tasty. Airline chicken a disappointment. Dry, scant...almost capon sized. Squash presentation and execution uninspired. But because of staff and atmosphere we had a great time. Birthday treat!

John, our waiter, was a very nice young man. Quite helpful on helping us select our meal. Some of the definitions, on the menu, were unclear. The Sole covered in crab, had an egg batter. I assumed it meant like an egg type tempura batter..........no, it was eggs poured over the top. Coated it kind of like an omelette. Different, not good. I didn't get it anyway. The Paella was very good! Shell fish cooked to perfection! Salad was great with a hearty blue cheese dressing with plenty of nice, large, pieces of blue cheese in it! They didn't have my beer selection so I compromised. They carry it but were out. A bit disappointing for a nicer establishment. Overall, a great experience. Oh, and complimentary desert since it was our anniversary! Chocolate ganache cake! YUM!!! We will be back.

My wife and I have been going to Bentley’s since it opened and have never been disappointed with service or food. Both have been beyond expectations and we will continue our tradition there for as long as it is around.

Great experience all around starting with seating, and on to the service, menu and entree presentation and taste. Also, I recommend the berry and lavender infused version of the French 75!

Some of the food we ordered was good, some was not. I ordered scallops and they were tasteless. No seasoning that I could taste. I was disappointed. My husband ordered the seafood chowder and he enjoyed it. The calamari appetizer was okay but I would not order it again. It was served on a stick which we thought was odd. Basically the chef needs to use more seasoning on his food. The service was okay but we never did get our server to refill our water glass. The atmosphere was very nice. It would not take much to make this a five star restaurant. Bentley's staff needs to be more attentive to its patrons.

Great experience. I have always expected Salem to have better restaurants. This is one of the few truly good restaurants within 1 hour of Oregon’s Capitol.

We were served lunch and found the ambiance pleasant with a fire set. There is an impressive bar area and looks like it could have a lively evening crowd. The service was very good and the lunch selections were a good variety. A good choice for business lunch or date night.

Limited menu choices. My Mac and cheese was lackluster and oddly sweet. Waiter asked if I wanted soup or salad with my meal and it turns out it wasn’t included so I paid seven dollars for a side salad. Some kind of electrical fire filled the restaurant with smoke.

The staff is wonderful!! Super friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were great. We loved the many different food options on the menu. It was hard to choose what to have first. We will definitely go back and try some of the other great sounding fare.

Two good dinners in a nice place. Service was terrific and food was very good - salmon and halibut. Dessert was even better. It's a special place for special days - like 51st anniversaries. We'll be back.

Waiter was attentive and very quick to serve. Food was mediocre. Butter salad was weird. 2 scoops of goat cheese on either side unappealing. No taste to salad at all. Needs more to spruce it up. Halibut was over done.

The service was top notch and serving sizes were spot on.

The first course was preceded by a pleasant surprise; an excellent glass of iced tea. I am told they brew the tea, let it cool, then pour it over ice to cool to serving temperature just before it is sent to the table. I love iced tea and theirs is intense without being too bold with an underlying fruity flavor; delicious. Warm bread with herb butter was also served and it was excellent.

I had the crab cake appetizer with Asian side salad. The crab cakes were perfectly seasoned and without an overdose of paprika. I liked the dressing, poppy seed, I think, but I thought the fresh, shaved ginger was sushi and... boing! Too intense for my palette. My wife had the seafood chowder appetizer, which I sampled liberally, and found it to be a fresh and flavorful take on chaudière. I am an aficionado of iced tea, clam chowder, and bouillabaisse, including cioppino, so...

For the main course, I had the seafood stew with fennel broth and I loved it! This came with a side of lightly toasted and buttered herb bread, which I used as a sop. Some might find the broth slightly on the salty side, but I did not. For those who do not know, getting salmon, whitefish, along with prawns, mussels, and steamer clams, still in their shells, to cook together evenly without overcooking any of them, is a delicate balancing act requiring skill and timing. This is especially true of clams and mussels. Put them in too soon, and you are chewing on hard, tasteless pencil erasers. Get it right, and you are in culinary heaven. They did and I was.

My wife had the fettuccine prawns. Naturally, I sampled it, too. The sauce was excellent, light and creamy, rich, but not overly so. The pasta was perfection; I do not care for pasta molto al dente, but a scoshe beyond al dente, which it was. Both meals had an ample quantity of prawns.

The food was faultless and as close to dining perfection as I have experienced. Bravo chef!

June 17, 2019. The hostess and waiter were excellent, just as expected and as previously experienced at Bentley's. However, the food was not up to standard. Calzone as burnt on the bottom and had to be sent back. I took a chance on something unusual for me - the Veal Weiner Schnitzel. The meat was tough and chewy. For $25 I would hope for more. The waiter gladly took the first dish back and comp'd it and 10% of the entire bill. It was replaced with the house burger and fries. Really good fries. We will be back because its one of the nicest restaurants in town.

I would recommend it because there aren’t any decent establishments. For Salem it’s decent. I would not call it good.

Slow service. Waited 45 minutes for appetizers and drinks. Waitress often warned us that the particular drinks and dishes we ordered would take extra time. Food tastes great but with our 7 year old the overall time was just too much.

As always, the restaurant was quiet, the food and service were great. This is my favorite restaurant in Salem for good food, good service and a relaxed atmosphere. Even when they're very busy, we never feel rushed.

Beautiful restaurant, excellent service .... the food was okay, nothing to write home about. We ate very early and they were already out of one desert AND vanilla ice cream. Not a big deal but speaks of poor logistical planning. I had a great margarita!

I would state what I just rated. Everything is Ala Carte. $20 to $28 dollar meal should at least include a salad or soup and it doesn’t. Portions sizes are just fair and I am a light eater.
The vegan option was delicious.

I ordered crab cakes and my friends both ordered the seafood stew. The food was beautifully presented and everything was delicious.
The crab cakes we the best I have ever had. We then ordered desserts---I had the Creme Brulee (can we say perfection??) and my friends shared flour-less chocolate cake which they thoroughly enjoyed.
The service was spot-on and very appreciated, our server was quick and available but didn't hover.
Thanks for a really nice late afternoon dinner and dessert!

We were disappointed in the service, the food and the overall experience. The short rib itself was good, but the sauce was weak and lacked a Demi glacé flavor. Salad had sat around and was limp. Crab cakes and sauce were good. Waiter was MIA and needed to be told our wine order 3x. Overall, we rate it a C-.

We welcomed 4 of our “foodie” friends from Portland to join us for dinner. Everyone’s dinner was exceptional and beautifully presented. We shared 2 deserts that were so delicious. Will definitely visit you again!

We went for Mother's Day Dinner. We got there 15 minutes early. We got right in.
It then took about 15 minutes to get water and coffee. They had a set menu for adults
and for kids. So it didn't take long to make up our minds. So it was about 11:50 I think.
when we got our waiter to take our order. We did not get our food until about 1:05 over an hour
to get served. It was not that busy at this time so we don't know why it would take that long.
Our waiter did come over a few times to check on us an say they were sorry it was taking that long.
I thought it was way too long for the food almost left. The cost was I thought a little high and we didn't even have a dessert included in the package. so wasn't that happy.

We went early to the Mother's Day Brunch. Everyone was warm and welcoming. Our server did a great job and ambiance was fine. The food itself was ok but really overpriced for what we received. A small fruit cup with even smaller mini Danish and Eggs Benedict (no potatoes or side) and coffee. Anything else was extra. $29 (and we tip well!) was just too steep.
I've never felt overcharged there before and would recommend Bentley's...BUT not for this event.

The last 2 times we've eaten at Bentley's we've found the appetizers delicious, but the entrees only fair. I would definitely recommend Bentley's, but for appetizers only.

The entire experience was excellent. The service, in particular, was the best. I'm not a cheapskate, but I believe the prices are on the "too high" side, and based on name and what people expet to pay. There are other fantastic restaurants with excellent atmosphere, great food, and excellent service at about half to two thirds the price. I always like to see what I am paying for; I didn't see it here, but people pay it.

That said, the high prices are the ONLY thing I question as to the "why." It's a "Grill." The service was wonderful, friendly and attentive. The food was very good; everyone at the table agreed, but certainly does not "blow away" other places with much lower prices.

We all (6) had a great time being together for our special celebration. If cost is no object, then you can certainly count on great service and good food. Again, this is just me wanting to justify what something costs.

Good food and Jacob great waiter. The bar was way to crowded and if we go back we will skip the bar. Way too crowded and noisy. Glad we were seated in a quiet area. Good food, great service.

We'll be trying different entrees next time. The chicken dish that we loved has been changed again to include a non-descript sort of butternut/butterscotch flavored cream sauce that is not to our taste. We loved the old fruit-flavored glaze.

We went to Bentley's for the anniversary of our engagement, 35 years ago. I made the reservations through the app, Opentable. (which I did not have, but downloaded) I then ordered flowers to be delivered to the restaurant. The staff at Bentley's had the flowers at our table when they seated us. Our server, Baley, was just perfect. Baley visited with us and made us feel comfortable, without hovering. We had issues with our steaks being cooked like we had ordered, but they took care of it without any questions or making us feel bad. The manager, Meg, brought out my wife's filet mignon after it had been recooked and told her the steak was on them. I have a dairy allergy and Baley made sure I didn't get something with dairy in the cooking process. We each ordered a dessert, which was heavenly. The evening was very relaxing and we had a wonderful time visiting.

We enjoyed our annual tradition of corned beef and cabbage at Bentley's along with non-alcoholic beer (gives us the tradition and we can still get home safely). As usual it's a little loud, but the food & service were great! Although the bagpipes are quite loud, they do a fabulous job & we enjoyed the music. It's not an inexpensive place to enjoy St Patty's day & they upped their price a little this year, but you get plenty of food and it was great. The corned beef was on the leaner side (less fatty), just how I like it, and prepared well so we'll be back next year as long as they keep doing a great job.
