Benny's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Bennys is great. I have been coming here for years. Besides the excellent food and service, Benny himself makes it a point to greet each guest by name. Its always a pleasure having a chat with benny.
If you are looking for great italian food, go to Bennys. You will not regret it.
Benny's Ristorante has been a fixture in Westbury for longer than we lived in the area (37 years). Fortunately we didn't move far away so we can get back often. The pasta dishes are fabulous, especially the Fettuccini Carbonara and the Bucatini con le Sarde alla Siciliana, which are two of my favorites. They will serve them as a main dish or appetizer. Other appetizers on my list are the Pappardelle Frutta di Mare (fresh pasta) and the Eggplant alla Benny (usually on the Special List). Main Course take your pick. I have never had one I didn't enjoy and I always look forward to enjoying one of the special dishes for the evening.
The staff is always friendly, extremely accommodating and if you have a special request, all you have to do is ask. (Note: If you have a very special occasion and you would like a quiet little table in the corner...literally, ask for the wine room. It's a table tucked in the wine room perfect for two or four). The main dining room is calm enough to allow for quite table conversation but lively enough let you know that you're not the only one having a good time.
If you live anywhere nearby or are traveling to the area I highly recommend letting the food and charm of this well established local restaurant provide you with an enjoyable night out.
We all enjoyed our meals. Portions were good yet everyone cleaned their plate. Our children (12 and 9) loved the salmon dish. Very attentive, pleasant service. The only thing that brings down my overall rating ever so slightly is the fact that we found it a bit cool in the restaurant, especially with temperatures outside in the teens, it would have been nice to have a little more heat. Nevertheless, we had a nice meal and enjoyed our time.
It's too bad that it's only a 5 star option. I would rate Bennys a 10! We were there on New year's eve. This was a wonderful dining experience. The food and service were wonderful! We do dine at the finish nyc restaurants. This was by far a great dining experience. Cannot wait to go b a ck!!!!
This was a get together holiday dinner of "cousins". Benny's was selected because they offered Bucatini con le Sarde alla Siciliana, a dish that's not easy to find on Long Island. The dish did not disappoint. Other dishes and appetizers (Eggplant Rollatini especially) did not disappoint as well. The service was great. We ordered multiple appetizers and the staff separated them equally among the six of us before bring them to the table - a very nice touch. Benny's is on our repeat list.
I went there with girlfriends who don't get together as often as we would like, at the recommendation of one of us. The food was excellent, the wait staff was attentive, the only glitch was they left us alone for awhile without bringing us the check, which we didn't mind because it gave us more time to chat. When we were ready to go, we asked a waiter for the check, and it was brought instantly. So all in all, an excellent experience of Old World Italian.
We have been to Bennie's five times over the past year. Generally their food is authentic Italian and the atmosphere is quiet. Waiters are mature and professional. That said, this time the service was slow, and the food was not up to what we've become accustomed to. We will try again perhaps they just had a bad evening.
Had reservation for 7:30 on Friday night. When we arrived we were told that some of the specials and menu items were sold out...at 7:30 when only a couple of tables were occupied. Service was average. Dishes that were served were below average. We will not return.
We made a reservation and were seated right away. However, we were waiting for more than 40 mins to get food. Waiter was very obnoxious and rude. After main course I asked for dessert menu and was waiting another 20 mins just for a menu. When I called the waiter who served us his response was why didn't I call for someone else, he was very busy. And his other phrase was :"Be Happy. Enjoy your food" without even apologizing. We did not have dessert and left the place. Also, the prices at the restaurant are higher than the prices on online menu. Very disappointed.
Came here for my fifty fifth birthday and notified the host it was a special occasion. Made no difference as he gave me the worst table in the restaurant. Benny himself came over and offered as another table. We were probably the youngest and best dressed couple but made no difference --- treated like second class. This is our at least tenth visit but our last visit. For one hundred dollars a person we can do better. Host and wait staff don't do respect to Benny's former reputation. Sorry but your clientele are getting old and you won't attract the next generation with the mediocre service. A shame.
Been going to Benny's for over 20 years...the food never disappoints, some of the finest Italian cuisine anywhere. Service is very professional and helpful. Always a great variety of fresh specials, and there menu is terrific as well. Strongly recommended .
We went to Benny's during restaurant week.. the portions were tiny .. we left leaving hungry. The waiter was very rude.. he had no patience and would make faces because he was waiting too long when we were ordering. He spilled the water all over the table and said no worries it's just water. I didn't like sitting with a wet tablecloth in front of me . When we asked him what Flan was.. he said he didn't know because he does not speak English very well! Would not recommend this restaurant!
