About Bennett's Pure Food Bistro
At Bennett's we are committed to serving pure, all-natural food. Here you won't find artificial preservatives, colors or sweeteners, flavor enhancers or hydrogenated oils. What you will find are the freshest, most authentic ingredients we can offer.
Most of our ingredients are deeply rooted in the Cascadia region – an area extending from northern California to southern Alaska, and the coast to the continental divide, taking in Washington, most of Oregon, Idaho and part of Montana.
We buy from producers who share our commitment to whole foods and handmade fare. People dedicated to the simple pleasures of creating delicious food and drink the way it was intended to be made; fresh from the earth, the sea and the vine.

Bennett's Pure Food Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Bennett's came highly recommended by Danny Bonaduce on his radio show...His recommendations are always solid, so I checked Bennett's out a month ago with my super high maintenance girlfriend and we were blown away by the food and the great service.
Last week when my long (over 45 years) lost cousin came into town from New Orleans, the first place that came to mind was Bennett's.
The gracious hostess seated me even a little early; our waitress was a fireball of charm and energy. The food was huge, tasty-tasty and good produce.
Bennett's is now a favorite of mine - forever!
It is the first brunch we've had there. We have been there often for dinner and it is always good. Our friends had the Crab Cobb Salad and it need something more. It is pretty bland. There is plenty of crab so that is not the issue. My wife has had that in the past and had the same comment. It should be an easy fix with the appropriate dressing. In any event, we appreciate having a good restaurant on Mercer Island.
Good selection of happy hour appetizers and drinks. Stopped in on way over to Seattle for Sounders game and have done this also before theatre in Seattle. Easy on/off I-90, free parking. Beet salad good, cauliflower side very good, mushroom tart very good, calamari good quantity but nothing special for marinara or aioli or coating , aranci appetizer good, $5 wine by glass was good, mac and cheese always good. Nice way to have light, rather quick dinner with several selections. Server did not seem bothered that we weren't going to order bottles of wine and lots of extras.
We went to the restaurant for Easter Brunch. The food was average - a little bland, missing salt and spices. We were seated in the back corner of the restaurant, which we thought would be a great table - however, there was a entrance/exit door located on the other side of the wall, when employees were going in and out, the air would catch the door and slam shut, very loudly, which startled us each of the approximately 7 - 10 times it occurred.
Our waiter was very personable and friendly. The service was a little slow even though we were there when they opened the doors at 10 am. And while we sat down 10 -15 minutes before the table next to us, they received their beverages and food before they served us our drinks.
Part of our group was already seated when we arrived. There was no one at door to greet us. Hostess spilled glass of water, provided some napkins for mop up, but never replaced our wet ones. Spilled our scone basket, not replaced. No butter for scones. No one asked if food was ok. No offer for desert, coffee, tea or juice. I felt they did not want us there.
Well prepared food. The menu is rather unadventurous, but what it does offer is well prepared and well presented. We had not been here in some time, having only rare occasion to be on Mercer Island. Apparently the clientele of this restaurant has changed since last we dined there. Several tables were filled with loudly shrieking adults making no effort to modulate their voices to restaurant level. The children, of which there were many, were much better behaved.
Sunday happy hour. Wine was good. Burger would have been good but was way overcooked. I ordered medium, got well done. Waiter was ok. He consistently reached across our faces to hand or pick up plates or drink to person on far side of the table (there were only 4 of us) and repeatedly tried to take away plates we were still eating from. Needs some coaching.
The service is friendly and attentive. The food is FABULOUS. Both the happy hour and the dinner menu are perfection of flavor and size. Nice selection of wines by the glass and great happy hour drink choices too. It was fun looking around the room to see young children, business acquaintances, and some fun seasoned folks too!
I don't expect pricing to be reduced. However, I do hope the service and food quality substantially improves to match the MI location, pricing and ambiance. The 6 oz salmon was over cooked and the broccolini was cold. For the price; unacceptable.
This was our Sat evening Valentine's celebration and was very disappointing.
We had stopped going to Bennetts after a bad experience; but decided it was worth another try. This time it was acceptable. Like the last time, the wait person was a bit overbearing. When my husband asked for cocktail sauce he was told that "we don't serve stuff like that because it might have preservatives". My mussels were excellent; but my husband's dinner was heavy on the potatoes and light on the halibut. It was not worth the $29 price. My glass of white wine was disappointing and they do not serve dark beers. Bread is not served with meals nor was it on the menu. The atmosphere is pleasant but a bit noisy.
