First time for brunch at Bennett’s. The quality of the menu overall and ambiance has gone down hill in the last year.
great service as always, bit loud but all's good when it's family. Menu is fairly static, but always nice regional PNW food available.
Food was delicious, once we got it, after saying they were out of the veggie scramble at brunch. Not sure what that was about because a veggie scramble was what we basucally got, eventually. Had made a reservation for a regular table but only a high top was available which was ok - but don't ask if you can't accomodate the request. Overall, just slow & poor service. Maybe a busy time but really no excuse. Got together with great friends so had a terrific time anyway, despite the service.
I was there with my daughter to celebrate a very belated birthday. The location was convenient for both of us although finding parking nearby can be a challenge - even on a quiet Sunday morning. The menu had adequate brunch items to choose from but it appears to me that the restaurant is more suited to lunch and dinner. The service was good although not particularly attentive given that it was not busy. Still, I'd go back again if I was in the area (Mercer Island).
The salmon was excellent but the broccoli ni was raw and flavorless. The server was snobby after we said we weren't ordering alcohol. I bit rude.
I liked the ambiance and that everything is organic and local. Need some Paleo choices.
Delicious grilled cheese on fococia and smoked cheese in cream of cauliflower soup. On a past occasion another deli ours salad that was hearty enough for a full meal, but not too filling
Pork shoulder with mac cheese was the best choice on this visit, but all items we've ordered have been excellent
Arrived during prime lunch time and it was crowded, but we had a reservation. Kind of noisy, but it quieted down after a bit. Food was delicious. Great soup and salads. Service was efficient and friendly. Kind of difficult parking, but that's sort of the rule these days? I'll be back.
My husband took me to Bennett's for my Birthday. It was (as always) wonderful. The service is exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinners.
Food was great! Service was too! Music was a bit loud. More of a focus than a background.
Great restaurant, excellent food and service, free parking, easy to get to from I-90.
This is our neighborhood go to restaurant for evening meals. Food tastes great. The happy hour menu is the best! HIghly recommend.
The curry mussels were excellent
Loud. Slow service. Good food but menu needs updating.
Joined friends for Happy Hour. Food was great. Service was awesome. The Beechers Mac and Cheese is divine and decadent!!
Great local spot on Mercer Island. Good brunch selection, including adult beverages and both traditional and non-traditional breakfast fare.
We were able to get out for a rare parents night out and were very excited to have cocktails and appetizers before our meal with a bottle of wine. We ordered our cocktails and our appetizer (the mussels) and we were told that they may not have any mussels left but that the waitress would check for us. When she came back with our cocktails she didn't mention anything, so we assumed our mussels were on the way. Not long after our meals arrived. We had yet to finish our cocktails and would have liked to have an appetizer even if it was not the mussels. We were unable to have a bottle of wine with dinner and just finished our cocktails. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she said she had forgotten and that they did have mussels. She did not offer to take the food back or bring the mussels. Luckily the food was good but we were VERY disappointed with the service and wish we had the opportunity to enjoy our night out more. We will likely not be returning.
Disappointing dinner at Bennett's on Friday. Had reservation for 6pm. Tables were available/open when we arrived. Hostess staff seemed overwhelmed with a woman dropping off a request for charitable contribution and other guests arriving for dinner. Arrived at 6pm and seated around 6:15. Notwithstanding that we arrived first, we were asked to wait for them to seat a group with a 6:15 reservation and a group without a reservation. Staff seemed more concerned with getting the larger groups seated (with or without reservations) than getting us to a table. Given the restaurant's configuration, there is really nowhere to wait when the bar is full and several groups arrive at the same time. Like the restaurant, but won't be back on a Friday evening with or without a reservation. Other better options available for a nice dinner out.
Good food, great service, but a little noisy. The background music is more in the foreground than in the background.
Excellent as always. I love meeting froends here. The cod is always so amazingly good.
This has been a favorite brunch spot for several years but it also has a nice Happy Hour. Egg scrambles never disappoint!
Nice neighborhood restaurant with good food and good service. Menu offers variety. Easy parking. Definitely a great place for dinner!
Friendly wait staff. Yummy drinks and excellent food!
Excellent happy hour food and value accompanied with very attentive service.
Not a child-friendly place.
I have gone to Bennetts’s since it opened. it’s character has changed entirely since then, and for the worse.
Despite a reservation, we were seated adjacent to the bar where a loud and large set of Happy Hour patrons were clustered. There was a quieter table available but we were told it had been reserved. Of course we had a reservation too; for some reason the people coming in an hour had higher precedence.
Discussion with the waitress was fruitless. When a slightly better located table came, she did move us there. But her message the whole time was “there’s nothing I can do.” We learned also that listed dishes were correctly described: it made no difference to her that one eater’s kale salad was half romaine; or that my arugula salad was all kale. She explained this was how they were always prepared (wrong; previous visits were correctly constructed).
The assistant manager came by, with the same message. As he was leaving, one of my companions called out to him, “if you had any respect for your customers, you’d buy us a round of drinks.” Her drink alone was removed from the tab.
If you’re reading this, Bennetts, please understand you have alienated long-term customers who do not intend to return.
Love the restaurant, the service, the food -- not the noise. Very difficult to visit with friends.
I always love Bennett's. Great Food, good service.
I have been coming here for years and the service and food has been hit or miss in the past. Last night, I had a wonderful dining experience. A gentleman whom I presume is a manager took great care of us and recommended a pinot which was excellent. Our server Emily was attentive and very friendly. Salmon was delicious! Great experience!
Bennett's is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is always delicious and prepared to excite your taste buds. The tomato soup is divine, the beet salad it the perfect blend of sweet and savory and the main dishes are always a treat.
Bennett's has become a favorite of ours. Our only wish would be more vegetarian or vegan choices on the menu.
I always love coming to Bennetts. I think the menu update gives more options. I appreciate that they have a happy hour - we kind of bridged the tail end of the Happy Hour to the early end of dinner. I think everyone was happy with their meals.
Very good, friendly service and a free dessert for the birthday girl!
Our whole experience from beginning to end was great! There service was attentive and helpful, the food was delicious, it was effortless and relaxing!
The service was great! Our waiter was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant looks stuffy from the outside but it’s not at all. The vibe on a Saturday evening was pretty laid back and fun. And most importantly, the food doesn’t skimp on portion size or flavor! All around great place.
I’ve been a frequent customer of Bennett’s. Seems vary noisy... hard to hear and felt exhausting to be in there.
I had the tuna melt and my friend had the beet salad. Both were very good. We love meeting here for lunch.
Great food, friendly service and comfortable atmosphere! Try it and I am sure you will go back!
Bennett's is a solid experience. It has a limited menu, but I find that neighborhood gems do better when they're focused on quality. I appreciate the consistently pleasant staff... and my friends (older retired couple past their 60s) was pleasantly charmed. I was so proud that they had a good experience there.
Always a great place to eat. Our waiter Zachary was wonderful.
