About Bennett's Chop & Railhouse
In every city, there is a natural gathering spot for city folk and neighborhood people in the know. This place in Saint Paul is know as Bennett's Chop & Railhouse. Located on West Seventh & Victoria, it is the perfect meeting place of uptown and downtown, of quiet neighborhood and big city lights.
It's called a chophouse because it specializes in a casual steakhouse atmosphere with top-of-the-line cuts of the finest meats. It is a Rail-house because it is on the old railroad line serving the city and rail drinks (as well as top brands) are served in the convivial atmosphere of the horseshoe bar.
And of course Bennett's is Bennett's because owners Joe and Meghan Bennett ensure that welcoming hospitality is always served. They have taken their decades of experiences with leading hospitality brands and translated it into an intimate venue where you're not only a customer, but more importantly, a welcome guest.

Bennett's Chop & Railhouse Ratings and Reviews
If this were the first time we'd come to Bennett's, we'd not be returning. Due to our previous experiences, we will be back. Will just be sure that there isn't a Wild game going on at the time.
The food we ordered was alright, though I'll not have the short rib sandwich again. It was messy and not very flavorful.
The noise level was unbearable and the two adults in my group got headaches from it. We've been to Bennett's when it has been loud, but this was mindnumbingly so.
We look forward to returning when nothing's going on. It will be MUCH better.
We ate at Bennetts on a Thursday night. As we walked through the door there were two men standing, drinking beer and talking. We assumed they were waiting to see the hostess. After about a minute I asked them if they were in line and was ignored. I finally pushed my way through and found a employee around the corner. She found our reservation and showed us to our table. Hannah our server was friendly and welcoming. She was the first breath of fresh air we had at Bennetts. She was very knowledgable and helped us make our choice. Our appetizer was the scallops which were good, along with a cup of beer cheese soup which was outstanding. We both had the 6oz sirloin which were outstanding, a big surprise.
Bennett's has the feel of an old neighborhood gem. It is definitely not fancy or trendy. The food was great, the service outstanding. We went with steaks, and the ribeye proved to be one of the best we have had in recent memory. The menu had enough on it to convince us that we would need to return soon to explore a little further.
Visited Bennett's before a MN Wild hockey game. Their shuttle busses to the game were the main draw, although I was told that the steaks and ribs were good here. Those menu items did not disappoint!! My wife enjoyed her sirloin steak and my braised short ribs were delicious. Au Gratin potatoes a great throw-back selection too. Good beer list, overall a great spot before a Wild game, and we will go back again.
The chopped salad and baked potato were great. The green beans and crab legs were way over cooked. It was difficult to get the meat out of the shell. That was the special of the night as well. It should have been made to perfection! I have had better food there. Both my husband and I were very disappointed with our meals.
Met a friend for lunch. I had not dined here before. Both had their chop salad which was wonderful and not able to eat the entire salad since it was so large. Our waitress was very attentive and the atmosphere was such that it was very quiet for visiting and we did not fell rushed.
We thought the food was expensive for the quality. No bread was served with our dinners, and our server was a little too "familiar" touching us both on our backs and shoulders when she spoke to us and calling me "honey." This is something I might expect from a server in a small-town diner, but not in this type of restaurant at this mid-price level. The food was good, though not fancy, and the portions were generous--though that's not something we necessarily consider a plus. Overall, an okay experience, but not a "wow" that will bring us back given the myriad options in the Twin Cities.
My steak was warm at best. Half of the meat was rare and the other part was medium rare(as ordered). I had to cut through some tough grizzle and tendons on one end to get to the meat. I did not complain to the waitress since one of the other members of the party had already complained about how "short" they had poured his drink. I had a great meal last time I was here and that is what brought me back. I doubt I'll pick Bennett's again.
Bennetts is a great neighborhood old fashioned supper club type place. The food is very good and they have a lot of traditional choices to choose from. The staff was very friendly and the service was top notch! Highly recommend for a laid back, delicious dinner.
First & foremost, food is very good. Nice choices of typical supper club fare using fresh ingredients, well-prepared. While not overly extensive or pretentious, the bar provides a good selection. Service gives you what you want & need without hovering. The place is not large, nor updated, but is clean and feels comfortable in it's role. Bennett's makes you feel good and gives you great value. Recommended without any reservations. It has become the latest addition to our list of favorites.
Bennett's is the type of neighborhood establishment that offers a sophistication of fine food you usually find in the heart of downtown. My wife and I have eaten there several times and its choices/quality are very consistent and worth coming back again and again.
The host was very friendly and actually knew people from our home town that we also knew. 2 of us had the prime rib special and found it just ok. We went to see a concert and used their shuttle service there and back which was very helpful. It is a little hole in the wall bar/restaurant I am sure quite fun for the neighborhood. I still would go back though.Price wise it was very acceptable.
Food was very good, Chop Salad is wonderfully refreshing and the service was outstanding, so good in fact that I left the server, Kim a double tip. My girlfriend and I loved the food and we will certainly be going back. Bennett's Chop & Railhouse will most likely become a regular spot on our dining list. I don't eat red meat but I have to recommend the Pork Chops as they were as good as I have ever eaten.
This is a great restaurant in St. Paul's West 7th neighborhood. Very low-key atmosphere, good service and great food. We had the Creole Meatloaf and Sirloin and they were both outstanding. There was a decent beer, wine and cocktail list, too. It's a small restaurant, but we had no trouble getting a reservation within 20 minutes on a Friday night. Definitely worth a trip.
This was our first visit to Bennettt's Chop and Railhouse. We were there for breakfast and it was a great experience. The bloody mary's were amazing and the food was just as impressive. The owner, Joe, stopped by our table and visited with us and we felt very welcome. Our server Lisa did a tremendous job. We highly recommend this place and will be bringing our friends there.
This was our first visit to Bennett's We were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday with the family. We were very pleased with the service, menu and food. Disappointed that the special of the day was not available but will go earlier next time hoping the prime rib will still be available. The four of us were all pleased with our food and will definitely go to Bennett's again.
