Bennett's Chop & Railhouse
It's called a chophouse because it specializes in a casual steakhouse atmosphere with top-of-the-line cuts of the finest meats. It is a Rail-house because it is on the old railroad line serving the city and rail drinks (as well as top brands) are served in the convivial atmosphere of the horseshoe bar.
And of course Bennett's is Bennett's because owners Joe and Meghan Bennett ensure that welcoming hospitality is always served. They have taken their decades of experiences with leading hospitality brands and translated it into an intimate venue where you're not only a customer, but more importantly, a welcome guest.
Went for Easter Brunch expecting cooked to order breakfast and was pleasantly surprised to find a Easter Brunch-Buffet set up. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Bloody Marys were impressive too. I recommend this restaurant. I have been there before Wild games too and the food was very good.
Overall we enjoyed Bennett's. We had a reservation at 7pm but ended up sitting at the bar for our meal. Our bartender/server was AMAZING. She kept us refilled and was so nice and friendly. The one thing I will say for the service was I waited for quite some time for someone to help me at the front. I wanted to check in for our reservation and let them know we were at the bar. I stood there for almost 10 minutes before one of the waitresses came over. 2 waitresses for the restaurant on a Sunday night is probably too few.
The food overall was fine. I got the salmon with crab sauce-it was pretty salty and no sign of crab. The rest of our group seemed to like their food fine.
We've been to Bennett's before and while the service has always been less than desirable, the price is good and the food is too. I would recommend for a cheaper steakhouse.
It looks like a tiny place from the outside, but looks can be deceiving! Our waitress was kind of "old school," and she warmed up to us once she realized we weren't precious snowflakes or hipster/scenesters with an attitude. They have a huge Martini list, although their definition of Martini is rather broad. For example, I don't consider a Cosmopolitan to be a Martini. While I was deciding what drink to order, my husband got a Bloody Mary. It was SO GOOD I decided to order one also! I ordered a Pilsner beer to go with it (I believe it was a local beer that she recommended, but I can't remember the name.) It came in an ale glass with the Hamm's bear logo, so we purchased two of them! We got both their Lenten fish special. The fish was fairly standard: I wasn't knocked-out by it. However, the fries that came with it were the best I have ever eaten. Unfortunately, she told me they only serve those fries during the Lenten fish special. I wish that was their standard fries! Next time we go- and there will definitely be a next time- we are going to try one of their steak dinners, which I guess they are known for. I have already recommended this place to a workmate who loves a good Bloody Mary who lives in St Paul. We live in Minneapolis, but it was worth the drive!
Dirty glasses, had lipstick on it. Food was mediocre at best. Way over priced.
Six of us were in town for the Final Four and chose this little place for a simple breakfast. It was very much like the nice little places I grew up going to in western Pennsylvania where I grew up. Simple, easy, homey, and made to order. Thanks!
Great food, great service.
We had a great experience Saturday night. Our waiter was awesome (wish I remembered his name). Food was great. Our waiter made great food suggestions and moved things along quickly for us.
Looking forward to returning soon.
Noisy. Batter of fried fish seemed really bready. Price of all you can eat fish fry was high for what you get served.
Had fish n chips -got a small amount of fries and the fish batter wasn’t cooked all the way. I’ve been to Bennett’s before and the food was excellent...this time.-not so much.
Great for a neighborhood steak and chop house. Chopped salad is excellent. AuGratin potatoes are a must with your meals.
Second trip there.
Took clients and the bus to the Wild Game.
All enjoyed our dinner.
Waitress was excellent.
Great service and good food.
Recommend noting when bus activities are scheduled, so we can make reservations around.
Nice mix of kind of a dive bar with really good upsacle food. It was a Saturday night, so it was packed and VERY loud. Reservations recommended or you will wait. I would have given it 5 stars but our service was terrible. It took 2 hours and 15 minutes to get through the meal. Took 20 minutes to take our first drink order. Server never came back to get additional orders, and never explained why the food took so long to come out.. Others around us who came later got served before we did. We really enjoyed the food and the lively ambiance, but not sure we would go back due to the poor service.
Food was adequate, but priced as though it was gourmet. The internet makes this place look good, but I'd never go back.
Went for the Friday night fish fry. Ordered a baked potato instead of fries, all was very good. I ordered some extra cole slaw, I got a 2nd 1/8 cup container of slaw, did not realize it was being rationed. Service very good.
Let me preface this by saying that we love Bennett’s and their wait staff is great. Usually the food is, too, but this time we had one disappointment. All three of us had the fish fry special. One person was very happy with how piping hot and crispy her fish was, but another one had fish that was lukewarm and the crust was somewhat soggy. When they brought us more fish, it was hot and crispy, so we all got to experience it at its best, but the person who ate the lukewarm soggy fish was disappointed she had eaten it. The fish that were served later stayed hot and crispy for quite a while, so that one meal must have really been sitting around for a long time before it was served. However, the apps, salads and desserts were all spectacular and overall we had a fabulous evening. Emma was a fun server. We’ll just order something different next time.
Excellent meal, fabulous selection of cocktails... Always a wonderful experience.
Food was excellent. Service was even better. We had a great time and will be back.
We made a reservation for 6:15 and when we arrived couple minutes early they were full and did not hold our table. When we asked when we could be seated next the hostess could not give us an answer on if it would be 5 minutes or an hour so we left. We were going to a concert at the Xcel so of course could not get in anywhere else. I'm not sure why they accept reservations when they don't honor them. This was our first visit to Bennett's and definitely our last.
It was the day before St. Patrick’s Day and the place was packed and very jubilant!! Excellent food as always!
It would not be St. Patrick's Day for our Family and Friends if we didn't go to Bennett's! We are Patrons for Life!
Warm, friendly, neighborhood restaurant . Service was very good. Friday night fish fry was very good. However, very loud
It was the first time at Bennett's it was super. The food and everything was excellent. The waiter was unbelievable. I think his name is Cory was awesome. We definitely will there again.
So many drink choices that it took us almost half an hour to go through them and decide :-) Good menu. Good prices. Good food. Loud atmosphere, small dining area, could be due to all the concert-goers dining there. Did not know there was a bus to the Blake Shelton concern beforehand; good to know for the future. Highly recommended.
Love the martini selection!
Wild game shuttle is great!
Fantastic place for a great meal with girlfriends. Parking is not great but still worth it!
Had a great time. Food and service was great. Took advantage of the shuttle service to the Xcel and it was awesome.
A nice hidden dive type gem, that acts as both a dive and a fancy place. Good food, decent pricing, and a must try in the Twin Cities!
I love the food. I like the casual ambiance, but it is VERY noisy in there! We do not sit in the bar either!
Also the service is often like that of a bar. Prices and food quality are more like a supper club. I question the discrepancy?!
Ribs were very good, better than expected for a steak house
Amazing food, great drinks, fair value for the money
Service was excellent. Food is good, just not great.
Considering all the great reviews, was a little disappointed. My wife and I had steak - Not much flavor. I could make a better steak at home.
Server Cory did a nice job.
Great steaks and fries! A great lil place for date night!
We celebrated a birthday dinner. 3 of 4 at our table ordered the nightly special and it had run out which was incredibly disappointing, another order of fish had bones in it. One drink was poured incorrectly. Service was phenomenal! Our waiter was great. I’ll likely be back again.
As always we had excellent food and service. Can't wait to come back!
Great date night with friends before concert. The shuttle is a bonus and driver was great. A+++ night will be back soon.
The server was very pleasant and helpful. The filet mignon had no flavor. The rib eye was very fatty and tough. The au gratin potatoes very dry. Would not go back.
