Now this is how a steakhouse should be done. Almost everything was delicious. Shrimp cocktail, salads - both Caesar and Tomato/onion, perfectly cooked steak, asparagus, hash browns and OMG, those desserts (apple strudel and pecan pie) - all perfection. The only weak link was the baked potato. That was clearly NOT freshly baked and not good enough to eat. The rest of the meal was so enjoyable even though the restaurant was very busy, that I will forgive the potato and just remember not to order it again. We will be back. It's obviously a very, very expensive meal, but when you want a really good steak, this is the place to go.
A real steakhouse. Excellent service and terrific food. Loved the filet and the bacon. Will be headed back next week. My wife was quite pleased and that’s not easy to do. Great job!
Great food with great service made the get-together well worth it. Highly recommended
No need to drive to Brooklyn to dine at Peter Luger's. Benjamin's is a worthy competitor right here in Westchester.
Normally, we love benjamin’s. We eat there quite often. But this trip was not good! Everything was overcooked- the lobster, porterhouse steak for two and a burger. We always order the meat rare and know to ask for it to be served on a cold plate so it does not continue to cook at the table. This time the porterhouse came out medium to medium-rare near the bone and it became medium to medium-well right before our eyes. The lobster was crunchy on one side and the burger was medium when it arrived and had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. We sent the steak back- at $107, it should be perfect- but stupidly we kept the rest. We should have sent it all back. The bill for 2 was 230.before gratuity. Only $107 was as ordered- the rest was unacceptable. Service is always excellent- but this time we were very disappointed in the managers for questioning our concerns when we stated everything was overcooked. They should have immediately suggested we start over- but instead they tried to convince us we were wrong- claiming the lighting was the issue- not a heavy hand in the kitchen. I didn’t need to look at the food to know it was overcooked- one taste was all it took. I genuinely hope it was just a bad night on their part... we will give benjamin’s another try in a few weeks, since we have enjoyed our meal there so many times before.
Great food, excellent service. Overall a great experience
Always delicious with great service
My husband and I both ordered the Junior Sirloin Steaks and they were perfect - Juicy and tasty. We had the asparagus which were also delicious. The service was impeccable. I am very fussy when it comes to eating out. Restaurants only get one chance with me. My husband and I look forward to going back very soon.
While the server/service was very attentive, food quite good, they couldn't get the temperature right in the room, where the fireplace was, as it was very cool in there. They turned the heat on, as the fan was blowing cool air; however, when the heat went off, it got cool again very fast, making it uncomfortable again. I have been many times for dinner and never had this issue before. It won't deter me from coming back, as I really enjoy the food!
Hands down one of the best steakhouse in the area.
My husband and I like this place, and he picked it to celebrate his birthday this year. Everything is pretty-much top rate here - though I do have to admit that our $104 porterhouse steak for two that was ordered medium RARE was more medium; we did not feel comfortable sending it back for another. Our bad.
Benjamin is and will always be my ‘go to’ for quality steakhouse experience in westchester (or NYC, for that matter).
Hubby and I had the special Tomahawk steak for dinner, and it was superb. Perfectly cooked and simply delicious. It’s a big restaurant and the noise level can get pretty high. Service was great too. Very attentive and helpful. Expensive night out. We spend close to $350 for a dinner for two, which included a bottle of wine, the steak, two sides, and two appetizers
Ordered steak medium rare, when to came to the table it was med to well done, with a little pink in the middle. When I spoke to the head waiter, he told me it was because I was sitting with my back to the light and to move into a darker area to see that it was med-rare. Was not offered to take it back, was basically told to take it or leave it - he was right and I was wrong. It meat was served on an sizzling plate which continued to cook the meat while it sat at our table. Was not offered ANYTHING to compensate for the over cooked meat.
Benjamin Steakhouse Westchester...Always a Great place to dine...TOP NOTCH
On this visit to Benjamin’s we found that the tables were smaller for 4 people and packed closer together than on other occasions that we visited even though the restaurant was only 2/3 filled during the time we were there. The steak for 4 ,order medium rare, was seasoned well and flavorful -as expected, but seemed slightly tougher than usual - even the filet mignon was not as soft as it should be. The sides and salads were excellent. Service was excellent as usual, the fire was roaring, and at the end of the meal after an excellent slice of chocolate mouse cake we were offered complimentary dessert drinks. Overall an excellent meal with one star deducted for a steak that should be at the top of its game at a steakhouse of this quality.
I go to Benjamin’s several times a year and it is extremely expensive (my biggest regret)- the service is high level and definitely pampers you - food is delicious but the spinach underwhelmed me this last time- shared steak and even the two fillets at our table were slightly overdone I believe because we enjoyed our appetizers but that is a matter of timing that should not fall on us as diners
Excellent steak, huge portions. Would absolutely return.
Had a great dinner here. The food was great and the service was also great. You definitely pay for both high quality food as it's pretty expensive but I would say worth the money. The service was really attentive and friendly.
Benjamin’s is consistently
Wonderful! Food and service can’t be best! One of our favorite restaurants!
I ordered - foolishly - from the Restaurant Week menu. The steak I ordered was fatty , chewy, and far inferior to what we have had there in the past. An expensive mistake.
The steak and lobster bisque are amazing! We frequent Benjamin's as a family and with our friends from out of town.
Was a very pleasant, upscale experience. The maitre d was very attentive and our server(Donny) did an excellent job. Will definitely return and recommend for an upscale experience.
Great It was our first time here and there with everything we expected and more
I went with my husband on a Friday night during restaurant week and had an overall great experience. Had a bit of a wait but that is expected on a Friday night. Great service from Gzim, he was attentive and helpful when it came to the menu and very personable. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We already decided we were going back again even before we finished our meal!! Highly recommend!
Our experience got off to a bit of a rough start when they made us wait past our reservation time even though we could see all the empty tables. We weren’t alone in waiting so it wasn’t that big of a deal but when they seated us at the worst table near the kitchen door corridor we asked to be moved. Not sure why they would pick such a bad table with others available and knowing we had a reservation. After being reseated the experience got much better. We had a great server and the food was perfectly prepared. I’m going to give them a pass for the bad beginning since the food and service were good. Maybe they should put some more experienced staff at the check in desk.
The steaks are absolutely fabulous, the wine list is inclusive, the sides are great and the service is attentive. It was restaurant week and while we didn't eat from that menu - choosing their regular a la carte menu, the prix fixe menu had quite a few interesting options. I've been to Benjamin's before and always enjoy the food and the service.
Upon our arrival we had to wait about 15 minutes for a waiter. At this time the resturant had a few tables that were dining. There was a table that came after us and was waited on before us, I was annoyed. However once I inquired about our waiter we were taken care of. It was an oversight I guess. After traveling from Brooklyn in Friday afternoon traffic to arrive on time and wait to be serviced was disappointing. The ambiance and dining experience was wonderful.
All around great experience. The service was very good. We had a table for 2 near the fire place. Nice ambiance. The food was great. Filet mignon was delicious.
As usual our meal was great and the service matched the food.
Hard to have a conversation
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home.
went for restaurant week and was disappointed. I might try this restaurant again but not during restaurant week because i don't think they served a typical dinner. It was crowded, noisy and felt like a cookie cutter meal served out of a frozen food box. Lobster bisque was very good but the steak was too thin to be cooked medium rare and was just ok, home fries were ok but certainly not worth the extra $5 they charged. Service was good considering the crowd. This year for restaurant week they upped the price and lowered the quality.
I met a friend for dinner, during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, and we ordered from the HVRW Menu. The lobster bisque at Benjamin's is excellent: creamy, flavorful, and with a sufficient amount of lobster chunks. We both had the sirloin, which was tender and perfectly prepared, as ordered. A Malbec, which our waiter suggested was a great companion to our meals. The mushrooms were a bit salty, however, they mixed well with the very tasty mashed potatoes. It was crowded, and a bit noisier than usual, however, it was the day following a nor'easter and everyone seemed to be very chatty. I've dined at Benjamin's about 10 times, and I've never been disappointed. The food is fresh, well prepared, nicely presented, and the entire staff, from the valet to the maitre'd, is attentive and accommodating.
We have been here many times; it is usually excellent, but this visit did not live up to others. It was restaurant week, but that hasn't mattered in the past. The salad course was okay, as were the main course and sides. There was nothing to "write home about." They pawned off an inexpensive ($45) bottle of California Cabernet that was warm as being room temperature, but it actually cooled down as it sat in my glass thru dinner. On a positive note, they have renovated and redecorated one dining area off the bar very nicely, and it was actually quieter than the main dining room, so it was easier to have good conversation with our friends. I will give them another try, based on past dinners.
Definitely would recommend Benjamines to my friends and family.Great food, and great service as well.
great steaks. very poor service. had to beg waiter for real menu and not the restaurant week menu.
Always get an excellent steak here. And you are treated like a valued customer. It is true proper steakhouse service. As an aside, I was here this past visit for restaurant week. It was as good a quality as always! On another note, I had the bad luck of finding my car with a a flat tire when i was leaving. The valet changed the tire for me in 5 minutes, no problem, no fuss. I tipped him appropriately, of course, but I was so grateful not to have to deal with AAA or wait for my husband ...
My favorite steakhouse in Westchester.
