I’m here often and every time is amazing! The bacon is the best on the planet!
Overall the food and everything was great. We did not get the deal that I saw on opentable. We were told that the offer is not available on fridays but the email did not clarify that.
Excellent steak. Really good, attentive service. Lovely ambience. Great evening! Excellent steak. Really good, attentive service. Lovely ambience. Great evening!
Great steakhouse. However, the service is lacking. You are paying a premium to be there.
We Love Benjamin’s- lobster and porterhouse, what could be better!!
Lovely dinner, delicious sirloin steak cooked just right. My request was ‘not quite medium and not rare.’ The waiter was spot on and said medium, rare plus! And, it was delicious!! Salad, accompanying vegetables and dessert were also very good. Service was attentive and atmosphere very welcoming!
Good meal for Restaurant Week, salad and lobster bisque for appetizer, steak and chicken Parm for dinner and dessert, great value. Service a bit distracted but was very busy.
We were a group of seven and went here for restaurant week. We all ordered off the restaurant week menu and it was great. Much better than any other restaurant week menu I have tried. I got salmon and everyone else had one of the steaks there was also chicken and pasta on the menu I believe. The salads were great as appetizers and two of us had lobster bisque which was good also. The waiter was attentive and we were seated immediately as we had made a reservation - which i would highly recommend as it's a popular spot. We also got wine (extra cost but average price) and desserts which were huge portions. We left happy and satiated. I had been before and will be back. I would highly recommend.
Have been to Benjamin's many times for birthday's , anniversaries and just for a nice evening out. We were there on March 16th for a birthday celebration our server, Donny was great and made it especially nice. The food is always great . I highly recommend this restaurant.
We went there for our anniversary and it was restaurant week as well, otherwise truthfully we couldn’t afford it. The valet service and hostess was friendly and great. We were early, but they sat us anyways. Gave us the restaurant week menu with select items, as supposed to the normal, which was fine. The waiter wasn’t very friendly and wasn’t very attentive. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and that came with our appetizers no issue and timely. The salad wedge was real good by the way. Then the service started to disengage and our main course took a bit, my NY steak sirloin was well done after I ordered medium and no particular taste to it, the mash potatoes were good and the extra mushrooms were dry too without much sauce and tasted like they just broiled it. I had to salt and pepper the hell out of it to take away the blandness. I wanted to ask for A-1 sauce to spice it up, but I thought it would be sacrificial so I didn’t. Then I noticed the Benjamin steak sauce at the tables and we didn’t get one on ours. I would have surely used it and paid the extra. My wife ordered the salmon and had the same feedback, nothing special. By then again, it’s fish at a steakhouse.
My wife ordered another glass of wine when the main course came out and that didn’t show up until the dessert. Good ambiance, clean (I did not check out the bathroom), they allowed me to take my coat to the table instead of coat check and a bit crowded I felt. But I did not see or taste the hype of the place I have heard from my friends and others.
Disclosure: I was told to get the porter house from my friend who raves about the place, which was not on the restaurant week menu and it was too late to change by the time he told me. Maybe that was the difference.
When your carnivore urges overtake you, I highly recommend a visit to this establishment. You can luxuriate in a sirloin fit for Henry VIII, accompanied by delicious seeded rolls and a beautifully prepared spinach side that is wholly unlike any other in its dense green color (you actually feel healthy eating it, unlike some creamed spinach presentations at other high end steak restaurants). For starters, the wedge salad is worthy of the King as well; the delicious blue cheese dressing melds seamlessly with the lettuce and other ingredients, among them diced pieces of incredibly thick, delicious bacon. If you are not inclined to go wedge, the delicious lobster bisque as a starter is another great choice. If you have any room , follow your meal with a magnificent and moist piece of carrot cake. Your service, too will be akin to royalty's as well. And here's the best of all: if you hurry, you will be able to take advantage of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week (which is really two weeks), and have a three course dinner for $32.95! If you are on the fence, and have yet to try Benjamin's, jump off fast and head on over while the clock on this great bargain is still ticking!
Great service, good food, definitely ready to go again.
Top notch as usual...no need to go to NYC for a great steakhouse!!!
Was my birthday dinner and was great
Food was expensive and only adequate. Ruth Chris is in the same price range and far better
Food was very good and drinks were pretty good. Very expensive overall. Felt rushed with the service.
The noise level is way to much, nothing can be done, how do you ask people to stop talking in a restaurant? It’s a steak house and we have been there several times , steaks are ok, but they are cooked to perfection!! My mother had the lamb chops and she loved them!!! Our waiter really knew his stuff he was awesome, funny, friendly and polite all at the same time!!! Very respectful to my mother ( an older woman) . Sides were very good and they have a great wine selection. Finished off with tiramisu ( I don’t know how we did it but 3 of us shared 1) it was spectacular!!! On our way out we had to wait 15-20 minutes because we could not get anyone to get our coats at the coat check, it was so busy with people coming In and waiting to be seated, they need to come up with a better way! All in all we were there early ( with a reservation at 6 ) highly recommend making a reservation on Friday and Saturday night!!!!
Absolutely wonderful from start to finish.
Food: Began w/the tomato and mozzarella for 2, petite filet mignons w/a delicious sauce, mashed potatoes, creamless creamed spinach and sundae for desert.
Ambiance: old school steakhouse vibe w/sleek touches. Nice!
We went to Benjamin’s for our valentine’s day date and anniversary. We usually come here once a year or so for super special occasions. Yet again, our expectations were exceeded by the amazing service. Our server was Steve B. And he made sure to inform us about our steak choices and rather than ordering medium-well like we initially wanted, he strongly suggested medium-rare for the filet mignon and the ribeye. And he was absolutely correct. It was delicious and perfectly cooked.
We got our dessert scribed with “happy anniversary” and they sang a sweet song upon serving. My boyfriend and I are still raving about the steak and service. In comparison to other “high end” supposes restaurants in Manhattan where we planned on going, we decided to stay local and were completely happy with doing so. We strongly recommend Benjamin’s for superb service and excellent American cuisine.
To me it was Benjamin’s vs Peter Lugers. Both are phenomenal and very close menu wise. Steak wise I couldnt really tell a difference. Again both resteraunts are top notch. However since this facility is closer and excepts credit card along with ease of reservation, I’ll choose Benjamin’s.
First time here, I do recommend. Will be back
Fantastic restaurant- only criticism is that people stand out front to the right on patio smoking which can completely ruin a fabulous meal for those of us who do ‘t want to breathe it while waiting for valet to Bri g us our cars - definitely should address this
It was a perfect meal.
This was a late Valentine's dinner, Vincenzo, our server was attentive and prompt to our selections. The filet was done perfectly for both my wife's and I. The room was quiet and ideal for talking.
While waiting for our table, we decided to grab a d ink at the bar. The bartender misheard my order and when I politely asked him for what I originally ordered, he was extremely annoyed and I was met with an attitude as if it was my fault.
When we sat down and ordered, the apps were great. My only issue was that waiters kept hitting my chair and bumping into me and not once did anyone say excuse me or I’m sorry. When the main course came, my order was wrong. I guess they ‘made up’ for it by insisting I order dessert and not adding it to the bill.
Overall, not the best steak house but I’d give them a second chance.
Came here for Valentines Day dinner and was very pleased. The service was great, the food was to die for and they decorated the place vey nicely giving couples the perfect opportunity to take great V-day pics. Would recommend this to anyone and will def. return soon!
Everything was amazing!! Definitely will be going back.
Clearly an off night for Benjamin's steakhouse. It was Valentine's Day meal with family and I made the biggest mistake of going off the fixed price menu. $89 per person including appetizer, entrée, side, and dessert and no doubt this food was not prepared fresh. Restaurant very busy and understaffed. both my wife and my dinners came out cold we ended up eating from the kids leftovers. The side potato was hash brown and when I asked whether I could substitute for French fries they said I had to pay extra, which I did. As if that wasn't enough, during clean up the waiter knocked over my wife's champagne glass and didn't even offer to replace it with a new drink. Very surprising to get such poor quality of food and service at such a high end steakhouse like Benjamins.
Amazing experience, high quality restaurant and service
Very good overall, but:
1. No sauces! Not at any price! No, that bottle doesn't count.
2. Anyone ordering medium-rare is counting on barely-warm meat; who would serve it on a searing-hot platter that cooks it to well-done in minutes?
3. It's a steakhouse, so it suffers from the usual value problem.
I'm very mixed about this experience to be honest. We made the reservation and that was fine they called to confirm and Olivia was very pleasant on the phone. We arrived and it was raining the valet came to take our car and didn't open the door for me which I thought was odd being the female and it raining and all. Get inside and we were seated right away. It was a four top and it was just my boyfriend and I. In hindsight I should have asked to be moved and maybe this was my learning experience. I was too focused on trying not to trip on the scattered carpets. We were seated and there were three large parties around us. The service was good we were checked in on adequately and were never rushed which is nice. When we were handed our menus the waiter clearly has the wine list he asked what we wanted to drink and I said we had not decided yet he said ok and walked away with the wine list. The manager was nice stopped by to say hello and check in. The waiters however, constantly were running up and down the aisle that I was seated along, there was at one point when they kept banging into my chair when they were catering to the large table behind us and there was plenty of room behind my chair. I loved that they were all about being on point but it became very distracting. Every party there must have had a birthday Bc they waiter are disappearing to sing which is fine.
Now my boyfriend and I were there celebrating our anniversary and this was mentioned on our reservation. I wasn't looking for the red carpet but they knew Benjamin's name for his birthday song and he was maybe two, a genuine acknowledgment would have been nice.
The attire is extremely confusing. I'm being charged 11 for a baked potato but you have people dressed up nice to a party that looked like they walked off the street in sweatpants and jeans (and not nice jeans with a button down) but tee shirts. There should be something written somewhere about a dress code in my opinion. See yelp for more
The service was excellent from beginning to end. The NY Sirloin Strip was delicious. We also got the steak fries and mushrooms as our sides which were great. For desert we enjoyed key lime pie and bourbon pecan pie with coffee and Amaretto. Everything was very good. The steak is unbeatable, but I thought the prices were a bit steep for the sides. Overall, I think the value was fair for the experience. If the sides were a little more reasonably priced I think I would come here more often. I am ok with paying more for an excellent steak, but to enjoy the full experience gets a little pricy.
I took a party of four to celebrate work and life. Everyone wanted steak, and Benjamin's was the first place that came to mind. I've always been wanting to dine there. The filet mignon was outstanding. The choice of wine recommended by the waiter was quite compatible with the steak. Great location, near the Sprain. Good ambience.
benjamin steak is the finest quality and the service is the very best therefore it is our favorite steak house and we also
love the bar scene during the week.sunday brunch is delightful too.beezy mitler
It was very nice
Had my favorite NY beer in Captain Lawrence! Had steak for 2 for the first time and was blown away. Best crab cakes I’ve had in a long time. First time here and will be back. Only hiccup of the night was not being given menus or acknowledged for 10-12 minutes when we sat. Server certainly recovered though.
Good but not as good as Luger.
Atmosphere is nice though.
Typical steakhouse, ok, not great.
Brought friends...was the first time for them to Benjamin Steakhouse...They loved it!!!
Great food and excellent service!
