A long-time favorite, Benjamin Restaurant & Bar in New York, NY offers its own take on classic pub fare. Located in a quiet neighborhood, it serves food in a low-key setting and is also a popular spot for after work nibbles.
The menu at Benjamin Restaurant & Bar features all of the classics along with some new twists on classic bar food. There are roasted duck quesadillas and crab cakes with fennel salad alongside enormous onion rings and coconut shrimp. Dinner salads, hearty soups and hefty sandwiches and burgers ensure something for any appetite. With an array of pasta dishes, meat entres, thin crust pizzas, seafood and daily specials, Benjamin Restaurant & Bar can be a place for a quick bite or a meal with friends.
When I arrived for lunch there was a notice on the door that Benjamin's has closed and was out of business due to some long time disagreements with the city. Benjamin's will be sorely missed.
This restaurant is closed.
Thank you for bringing back the rigatoni with sausage sauce, it was always my favorite.
Meal was really good. Mussels in wine very lemony and fresh tasting. Salmon was z nice piece and chicken parm over homemade pasta. Server was so pleasant The place looks like a "joint"but chef overrides that.
reliable...pleasant waitstaff...good bloody May...good home fries with onions & peppers
Benjamin is a dependable choice. The food is good and the prices reasonable. We were disappointed with their gazpacho but my soft shelled crabs were quite good.
Diner foods here not outstanding
Good service and friendly
My go to spot after movies at the AMC Kips Bay. Nice selection, tasty food, reasonable prices.
Overall a very good experience.
Nice American food with a classic vibe in Murray Hill/Kips Bay. Service was excellent, along with a good drink selection! If you're in the area for a relaxing, comforting evening, you've found the place!
Food and service were perfect.
Great neighborhood place!
Benjamin's is neighborhood restaurant offering consistent quality food and friendly service. Mondays offer a steak or lobster 3 course meal for under $30.00. I've eaten there often when visiting NY and the food is always of the same quality. Good burgers and soup.
Awesome neighborhood restaurant. We either come here or get Seamless delivery from here every couple weeks. The chicken parm is out of this world with a very generous portion of fresh mozzarella cheese; probably one of my favorite comfort food dishes in the city. The people are super nice and it's a relaxed vibe. Highly recommend if you want solid food at good prices with a neighborhood atmosphere.
great food and ambiance in a Murray Hill / Kips Bay neighborhood bar setting near a large movie theater
An extensive menu with a wise variety of options. I had the blackened scallop special and my companion the duck quesadilla, both quite good. The cornbread in the bread basket is especially good.
Nice large menu--lots of great choice. Low key, relaxed atmosphere. I like eating in the bar area where I can watch the games on the televisions. Stick to the comfort food selections and you can't go wrong.
Grest shrimp quesadilla's. Service was great.
We have been coming here for years. The food is always outstanding. This is the place to go if you live in the neighborhood. Very reasonable, large portions.
I and my husband had a very nice time for Valentine's Day at this restaurant. My husband had leg of lamb with fried artichokes, quinoa and spinach. I had the red snapper with spicy crab sauce, linguini and zucchini. Everything was delicious. The service was great as was the price. The lighting was low and soft, but the place could use an updated décor. The only real drawback would be the tight spacing. The back of my chair was up against the back of the diner behind me.
Quick service and great food- we went for Valentine's Day Lunch and everything was speedy, delicious and we felt quite comfortable.
This was our first time here and both of us liked it. I don't live in the neighborhood but do go to the movie theater nearby on occasion. We will definitely come back. Service was very good.
The food is poorly prepared. Even the brunch Bloody Mary was tasteless. We would never bother to eat there again with all the competition around the corner on 3rd Avenue, with much more atmosphere as well.
Great neighborhood spot! Nice ambience, very warm on a cold night! Delicious food and good service too!
This is a great restaurant for a date night. My husband loved his seafood risotto but unfortunately my burger was undercooked. I should have sent it back since I prefer it medium-well but ate the rare burger anyway. The guacamole was AMAZING!
This was my second time visiting Benjamin's and it didn't disappoint. My friend was running late after a doctor's appointment, but the wait staff was kind enough to let me pick a table and get comfortable with a glass of wine. Even though my friend ended up being over a half hour late, no one rushed me or questioned my need for a table. Once my friend arrived, the server came right over and offered to help us get started. Even though we spent some time chatting, no one rushed us to leave.
This is a cozy spot on 2nd Avenue on the corner. You can either request a table with a window and enjoy the view or pick a seat at the bar or near it, a more intimate and private area.
We had wine and fish tacos, but last time we had complete dinners. Both were good.
If I had to pick one area that could be improved it is the seating. The chairs sometimes touch the chair behind you not allowing for enough space to graciously enter or exit table space.
Other than that, I always enjoy my visit to Benjamin's.
My girlfriends and I came here for brunch one afternoon and had the best time. They have a really great menu with some staple dishes, and others with a yummy twist. And who can argue with bottomless mimosas?
Food no better than a 2 star diner at that. I'd say based on that comparison over priced.
We went with another couple for dinner on a Tuesday night. Three had the sirloin steak and I had the pork chop with cranberry. All the meals we very good and the prices were reasonable. I would recommend for a nice dinner
Food was excellent, fish cooked perfectly. Loved how the potatoes were served.
Benjamin's is my favorite place before for a sit down meal with excellent, not-overpriced, food either before or after a movie at the AMC Kip's Bay. Comfort food done extremely well. Very friendly service.
At least the beer was good (no exceptional variety, but what they had was ok). Everything downhill from there. Some food just not too bad, other actually inedible. Service reflected in the fact that I had to get up and search for the waiter to pay the (large) bill.
If forced to come after a movie (across the street) KISS - keep it simple, stupid (fries, wings, etc).
The food is excellent, especially the steaks! We love the waitresses whom we have come to know over the years. It just feels like home when we're there.
Good food, reasonable prices, and very convenient to Kipps Bay theater.
The first time we went to Benjamin's (conveniently located near the movie theater) we thought it was a great neighborhood spot with good food. However, our second visit was disappointing. The veal scallopini was gloppy and salty. The burger lacked flavor. (Roasted 1/2 chicken was actually pretty good). Even the coffee was thin and flavorless. At a cheap price this might have been tolerable, but the price was steep for mediocre food.
The menu is perhaps too diverse. Benjamin's might be better off having a smaller, more focused menu that concentrates on doing fewer things well vs. lots of thing not so well.
When I am in this neighborhood, this is my go to place. An Irish Pub that actually has good food at a decent price. I go for drinks and snacks at the bar or for a real sit down dinner. Always good.
Loved the duck quesidilla appy and pork chop and chickem parm entrees.
Horrible experience. Cake was burnt had to request for another, fries were soggy and burnt requested for another but I was turned down. . I was given a shady excuse saying the potatoes were freshly cut.
I was asked to give a tip bit refused and was asked why...who does that.well I told the waitress I ll not give a tip because of poor service
the nightly specials are a great deal= Sunday Night is Pasta night. Great for after a movie or with friends. Daily specials are tasty and fresh.
My friends and I come here for the food. We live the truffle mac n cheese and wings. The chicken, porkchops and meatloaf are great entrees.
Food was great. Waiter we had was responsible for too many tables. He was working very hard but rushed us to order and had to be flagged down for anything . Poor unfriendly management. Chef is too good to work for such a badly run operation .
