Benissimo Ristorante and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Delicious and delightful! This is our favorite local restaurant and have had a great experience every time we go, which is often. This last visit was to take friends visiting from Michigan and once again, we all had great meals, service and a wonderful warm environment in which to visit and catch up.
We celebrated our grandaughter's birthday here. Party of 11. Made reservation the day vef1ore. It worked perfectly. We had a mix of appetizers, pizza, and menu main courses. People who has clams and fettuccine in white wine sauce raved about it. Pizza eaters said crust under toppings was a bit soggy. Flavor for pepperoni pizza was great as was the garlic infused dipping oil. Special dessert for granddaughter was also delicious. We would definitely do this again.
Good, solid reasonable and real Italian food. We have been going there for at least 25 years and it is owned by 2 (Italian) brothers. One is front of the house and the other is the chef. It has been about 1 1/2 years since we were last there (we have all retired) and it is still as good as ever. Food is good and well prepared and service is just fine as well. No view but the ambiance is fine. Easy parking. Just a good solid neighborhood Italian restaurant. Also a very popular bar with Happy Hour appetizers and drinks as well as at least 3 prix fixe (5 to 6 pm) three course menus for dinner. It's a good deal all around.
Pasta was cooked just right. Wife is vegan and was allowed to make changes to the menu. It was our anniversary and waitress gave us a complimentary tiramisu which I gladly ate. We have been here 3 times and each time each customer seemed happy and smiles and cheerful faces filled the place.
We tried this restaurant based on the high number of reviews and high star value. I think the high stars are from the past. I should've read the reviews before booking because some of the more recent criticisms were on point. My short rib was tough. My husbands chicken piccata was dry. The bread was cold and stale. The only saving grace were the two pasta dishes our girls had. The tortellini and the angel hair pomodoro. We were disappointed since we had so many choices in Marin County to select from and landed at this place. We sadly cannot recommend this place. Time to find another dining establishment.
We love Benissimo's! A drive from Santa Rosa does not seem too far when we know we will be dining in the charming warm ambience of this delicious Italian Restaurant. A martini, Scarlatto, or Proseco is the perfect start to dinner, with many great dining options including small plates and specials. Benissimo's never disappoints!
Comfortable pace of service. Staff works well together to handle every table. The dipping dish of olive oil and minced garlic was wonderful, as always. Extra lemon wedges were requested and brought quickly. However, we had to ask twice for a bottle of sparkling water and a salt shaker. Salmon was slightly dry, first time ever in the many years we have ordered it. Lemon sorbet in a frozen lemon rind was a terrific way to end the meal. We'll be back, soon!
