Benissimo Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Went there with a group of 6 recently. The food was excellent. The service was good. It’s a BYOB restaurant. My brother in law could not stop raving about the Osso Bucco. My shrimp dish was equally delicious. Desserts were yummy! Great overall experience. We will be back!
Dinner was delicious. Table was alittle awkward as this is a small restaurant. My biggest disappointment was to open my leftovers from dinner and find my dining companions dinner. I was the only person at the table to request my food to go. We have been to this restaurant before so I assume it was an isolated incident.
What a wonderful find, thanks to Open Table!
We felt transported to Italy here. Professional staff and owner made us feel welcome with their warm unpretentious style. The owner visited each table as if he was visiting friends and you were now included. Food was excellent! We ordered from the Specials menu and nothing disappointed!
We go to Benissimo frequently. The food is always consistent and good. The specials are typically the menu items from which we make our choices – but the menu has great stuff also. Neacola, the proprietor has been a chef for many years and you can count on getting an excellent Italian meal there..and it is not your typical Italian food, but with interesting parings of veggies and meat that you also find in Italy
Disappointed based on other reviews of this restaurant. Arrived being told they didn't have my reservation - did make accommodation by setting up a table, however the table wasn't level and they couldn't get it level so a "rocky" experience throughout the dinner.. Based on other reviews, the food was not anything special. Would not return as there are other restaurants in the area, which are much better.
We have been to Benissimo before and they never disappoint. The complimentary cheese and olives is a great way to start off the meal and we had the sausage, pepper and potato appetizer which was very tasty. Dinner was also excellent too. The zuppa de pesce was filled with tons of seafood in a yummy both with garlic toast. And the Rigatoni special with baccalo was outstanding! For dessert we had the zabaglione topped with sweet juicy berries. Food is served at a comfortable pace, never rushed. And its a BYOB, an added bonus! Highly recommend!
This is the second time we dined at this restaurant . We returned because our first visit was primo! This visit was very disappointing. The service was extremely slow...we waited 20 minutes for someone to come to the table after we waited to be seated despite our reservation. When the waiter/manager finally came over he opened the wrong bottle of wine and left the beer unopened. We had to ask for water and waited another 20 minutes to order. After three requests, we finally got the ice bucket we requested. The entrees (4) all came out at different times, no one checked on how we were doing and because of the slow service we opted to skip coffee and dessert. I did approach the waiter/manager before leaving and gently asked why the service was so slow and he said, in a very odd-handed way, that they were busy. What a disappointment after having such a wonderful experience on our first visit.
Benissimo never disappoints. Food is authentic, fresh, expertly prepared. Ideal for a lunch meeting, discussion can be held without much background interference. Service is professional, prompt and attentive. This is a "never miss" on quality and creativity. While we were pressed for time, service came promptly, but without rushing. Suggest you go with their specials, they tend to be exquisite. Top notch Italian in the region. Don't miss it!
Had dinner with friends. It was our first time at this byo restaurant. We had their calamari with a ginger sauce which was very different and delicious. The bread was crusty, fresh and served warm. Selections included osso bucco, lobster ravioli, pasta, fish. The choices were all presented well and thoroughly enjoyed.
We shared a pistacchio cake, & some capuccino . A sweet way to end our evening. We would definitely return to this restaurant.
Went there for an early (6:30) Sunday dinner. Place filled only to one-third by the time we left. Friendly, helpful and efficient service. Good choice of entrees reasonably priced. Our salads (Arugula, Caesar) and entrees (Chicken France, Veal Scallopine Sorrentino) were excellent. Would definitely recommend and return another time.
Recently my wife and I were recommended this restaurant by an experienced foodie, he did not mention it was BYOB! Still we can't thank him enough for his info,we will definitely be back to this hidden treasure to enjoy the outstanding dining experience and bring our own wine.
Love the food and service. Also, BYO and extensive menu so good for everyone. We had the table by the door and some people waiting were obnoxious; standing too close to our table, glaring at us. Most stood in vestibule; management should have removed the offenders. Next time will ask for a table not near the door. Food great, nice value and great for meeting friends. You are NOT rushed which is lovely. We meet friends there as Bennisimo's is about half way between our homes.
DID NOT FEEL WELCOMED
I saw this restauant on open table and thought we'd give it a try. We walked in and gave our name to the girl. She marked us off the list and said it would be a few minutes. A second boy came over and we went through the whole routine again. No problem. Finally what seems to have been the owner asked us about having a reservation, marked us off the list again and basically pointed to our table. He was absolutely not welcoming at all and had the personality of a wet fish. Completely turned off from the start. The food was average and therefore I will never return. Its a shame because our friends who are foodies also, told us to let them know how it was and unfortuately we could not recommend. There are too many italian restaurants where at least the host could great you with a smile and make you feel welcomed!!!
When in area, a must visit to Benissimo's for an authentic Italian lunch or dinner. dropped in for a business lunch and was served promptly. The appetizer selection was fantastic, great cheeses! Papardelle were well made, fresh noodles, fantastic mushroom sauce. Did not partake in wine (business lunch) but took a peak at the list. Well rounded, mainly Italian, with great selections at modest cost. You will not be disappointed, the ambiance is authentic, service and ownership accommodating.
Visit and enjoy!
I chose this restaurant as a "meet in the middle" restaurant with friends, and based on the reviews from Open Table which were excellent. I also shared the website with menus as one of our diners has some specific dietary needs. All of our expectations were met and as my husband said, for our trip, "How great it was right off route 80!" We were given a great table in the corner and it was perfect for us. One thing I loved, aside from the best bread ever that did come with butter (!!), was the fact that we could sit for a bit with our wine (did I mention it is BYO!!) and not be rushed into ordering and then courses arriving asap. In any event, we all enjoyed all of our courses (mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat, grilled octopus, shrimp main course, swordfish special, venison special, etc.) and desserts. We spent several hours there (Saturday night) and plan to return. A great time was had by all!!!
PS I left a bag with extra bottle of wine under my seat and our friends left their Amex card. We turned the car around once on 80, when we realized the wine was left, and went right back. The waiter had the card and wine for me by the cash register, hidden from view. We were really impressed!
The food is consistently excellent at this BYOB. You can always find a unique dish here. The whole branzino fish was cooked perfectly in a light white wine served with roasted potatoes and string beans. The endive salad was a treat. Clams are in a delicious broth and the bread is one of the best around. I highly recommend.
