Great place. The food was good. You won't leave hungary.
Fun place to celebrate family graduation.
Great as always
I hadn’t been here in years and I was very impressed.
Dinner for my daughters birthday. Dinner was great, however we had a party of 5 and we were seated with a party of 4. Typically 8 per table, 9 at our table even considering there were 4 kids at the table, 2 from my party and 2 from the other, was entirely too tight.
Should have a special section for kids under the age of eight. I had a four year old next to me squirming and making noise the whole dinner!
Food is good just very pricy far as food goes service was nice
Well taking a family of 6 and ordering 2 cocktails is pretty pricey. So I would say special occasions only with a larger family.
We made a reservation and when we arrived were taken back right away. Then told we had to wait so we had to go back to the lobby and wait. Not really sure why. We already had a pretty late reservation and didn’t start dinner until about 9:30
While the experience was excellent overall, we had decided to come for lunch to have a less expensive menu. We did not know and were not told ahead of time that because it was MOther's Day weekend the dinner menu was being served at all meals for both days. Our lunch for 4 was well over $300.
I (we) have been to Benihana at this location several times in the past always with total satisfaction. Although the fare is a bit on the pricey side and the portion sizes moderate compared to many other establishments, the quality and savory aspects of the meals offered always make the dining experience well worth it. The entertaining and experienced chef at the table also adds to a well worthwhile total package. The wait staff is always attentive and helpful and compliment the clean and unique atmosphere of the restaurant. Open table reservations were convenient and worked flawlessly contributing to our overall pleasure.
We made a reservation for 7 pm 11 pp - half of us arrived 10 min late. But when we gathered we waited 1 hour to be seated and another 35 min for the drinks and Chef. So they take their time.... a lot slower than it should be, and terribly slow for a group with kids .
A friend and I went to Benihana to celebrate our birthdays (previous month, but who's telling?!)
We had a wonderful time, the food was great (thank you Chef Edward), service was too ... we were fortunate to have a wonderful group at our table, even though we didn't know anyone when we got there, we were all very friendly by the time we left.
It was so much fun!
Excellent food and great show. Entertaining watching the chef's prepare the food . Never had a bad meal at this restaurant. New dishes.
I have NEVER left here disappointed and I have been coming here since I was a kid. The meal is always good and cooked perfectly, the service is spot on and the cooks always entertain. HOWEVER, my last two visits, I have had Omar as our cook... This man goes above all other cooks to ensure everyone is entertained, he interacts with the guests like no other cook I have seen. He has the entire table laughing with small little comments and questions to the kids at the table that get them thinking. He has us all engaged the entire time with newer tricks and he a great cook.
The food was wonderful-plenty of it and prepared to each of our specifications. Our chef was disappointing however because of his lack of interaction with our table. One of the main reasons we chose Benihana was for the experience as well as the food. I felt that we were attracted to the fun and laughter happening at surrounding tables rather than our own.
Food was great; chef was great. Host service was not so good. Showed up 15 minutes early for our reservation, but weren't seated until 15 minutes after our reservation time. They were seating walk-ins past us, and asked me 3 times if I had been helped (kept forgetting that I was standing right in front of the host stand. It's a bit frustrating that you get overlooked if you don't scream and push your way to the front.
While we are fans of Benihana, it is a very expensive meal especially when they do not include ice cream with every meal.
The server also gave me the wrong wine which I noticed after trying it. I asked for the correct one and our server said that she would need to replace it out of her pocket. Clearly she was trying to encourage me to keep what was served to me (which I did). Just disappointing that Benihana has policies in place that make the server responsible for mistakes.
Great time celebrating the wife’s birthday!
We went right when they opened. Because of the reservation we were seated first. The chef was not interactive and did not do anything special but cook and give the food. He even forgot to give the sauces until I said something. 2 of the 4 plates made my party sick and they even forgot the ice cream at the end even after I asked for it because it was included with our meals. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had.
Great experience and lot of fun
The food was excellent wish I could say the same for the service. Half the table got plates and drinks filled very quickly, the half I was at not so much and had to ask repeated times,
Definitely would not go back. There was no usual show with the food, service was poor and for the money the food was not worth it. Overall no one in our party was happy with anything. Will go to Tsukasa from now on
Not a good experience! It's been awhile since we've been to Benihana, but a friend wanted to go to celebrate her birthday, as it had been enjoyable in the past. It was a Friday evening and we (4 adults) were crowded around a hibachi with a family of 5, including 3 younger kids who spent most of the meal on their phones. The other tables all seemed to seat 8 total. The chef, whom we heard he was fairly new, was not very entertaining, was slow, and did not engage the group at all. The food was mediocre and overpriced. The scallops were overcooked, my husband added shrimp to his meal and didn't get what we paid for, and the chef was so busy catering to the father of the other group (no veggies, more garlic, etc.) the food was very slow in coming. Also, the soda did not include refills but this wasn't mentioned (just found out when the bill showed 6 sodas for the two members of our party drinking them!). Total before tip for 4 was $248. We won't be returning.
Amazing , food , atmosphere, good service
The chef we had this time was a little too “low-keyed.” We usually have a good time at the time with the other people because the chef gets everyone engaged. This time he just went through the motions. The chef is usually the “headliner” of the show and it’s up to them to put on a good performance. I don’t feel like this one did. Although the food was good, it was kind of disappointing, especially because we were there for a special occasion.
Service was slow, lots of mistakes
Chef and food so good! Server this time was slow and forgot your drink and food order. Had to wait for drinks throughout dinner. Too many people on table. There should be no more than 7 people to a table. It is usually 8 or 9, way to many. You can barely move to eat or drink. That is the only thing I don't like, everything else is so good.
Horrible customer service from the hostess! Rushed to place our order. They separated our party purposely. Not enough food for your money. And the portions are very small.
Go to Wu’s House instead you will be impressed!
Good food, show and service!
Great food, helpful staff.
Today it’s Thursday and Benihana was packed. We couldn’t believe how busy the restaurant was on a Thursday night. We decided to eat in the Sushi Bar/restaurant. Jenny was outstanding and she was working hard to keep everyone happy. Wonderful service. I had Chicken Teriyaki with Chicken Fried Rice and my husband had the Sushi/ Sashimi plate which was amazing. 8 pieces of Sashimi and Sushi each. My onion soup and salad were excellent too. Thank you Jenny
Everything was good except that there are no substitutions with the meal options, 3 people in our party do not eat seafood and shrimp was the appetizer.
Great as usual !
Our experience was very bad. We love going to benihanas and we took some friends for their first time. Not a good experience.
We had made a reservation for five and ended up waiting 20 minutes past our designated time. Then when they seated us, they squished 9 people in to our table (5 of our party and two other couples) at a table that can really only handle 8. Unfortunately, this meant we couldn't get close enough to the table to eat properly because there was no room. Also, when we ordered drinks the first round took 20 minutes to arrive and was missing one (after waiting 20 minutes to even place an order) and the second took 30 minutes and arrived as we paid the check. Just too busy and too chaotic - wish they would just limit the number of customers to something they can handle. Because it was so busy, the chef didn't do any of the traditional tricks or skills and just tried to cook as fast as he could which was a bit disappointing. But, the food was delicious as always!
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. My family and I came to celebrate my mother in law birthday. This was her first time and she was excited about coming. My husband and I usually go to the one in Lombard which is fantastic but they didn’t have any reservations time that fit us. Wheeling location was horrible experience. Our bill was almost $300 and we would have been better off at a fast food place. No seasoning, not a lot of food, the food was tough, space at the table was tight and not enjoyable. The cook didn’t interact much. Overall, the worse experience
Great time, awesome food, great show
Enjoyed our experience, went for a business meal with 8 of my co-workers and they had no trouble taking care of all our needs! Thank-you
