Benihana - Westbury Ratings and Reviews
We frequent this establishment quite often and never had a terrible meal like we did recently. This is the first time we had this chef and he was terrible. I wish we had gotten Jesus because he’s the best chef they’ve got.
Service was much better than usual because the restaurant was particularly empty on Tuesday night.
Food at Benihana is always good, and the chef provides excellent entertainment while cooking!
Rest of wait staff can use a little coaching on courtesy and explaining more about meal. They offer fried rice, and never mention there is an extra fee. We had to request the tea that came with our meal (and only one cup was served). A pot of tea (for groups to share) that can be replenished would be lovely!
It's Benihana. We go for the entertaining hibachi show even though we know the food isn't as good as less "chainy" restaurants. On my most recent trip to Benihana, we checked in about 10 minutes before our 7 o'clock reservation. We were told that they had given away our seat to another person and that we would have to wait for the next available table. I was pretty upset considering I had work the next day, the other person in my party had work the next day, we had made a reservation in advance, and the servers just gave our spot away. It was fairly quiet, which made sense because it was a Thursday evening, and there were several available grills in the restaurant. We were seated at a grill next to another full table where there was no room in between hibachi tables for 2 chefs. We had to wait for one table to finish their dinner show before another chef could come cook for us. This problem could have easily been avoided by seating us elsewhere. Nevertheless, we were there because we had a birthday coupon that we did not want to waste. The food was delicious, nobody does steak quite like Benihana! Of course I'll be back next time we have a coupon or a group location. This experience will not turn me off of Benihana, however it would have nice to have my reservation be acknowledged and respected
overall was a good experience.. it was my first time there... if i get a chance i would be back! but i don't think this restaurant will become one of my favorite! but i have to say that i got the best coconut mojito in this restaurant.. server and chef were great!
Food is consistently good. However the last two times i visited this location the waitress service was poor. Piles of dirty dishes left on the table and request took a long time to fulfill. Only time i saw her frequently is when she gave me the check and was waiting for payment.
Don't go for last reservation.. the host knew the kitchen closes at 10 we had 930 reservations and a bday celebration..in which u get dessert buy since the server doesn't ask u your choices and only tells u they have ice cream because she neglected to tell u the kitchen closes u have to settle for ice cream therefore they have to settle for tip THT was on par with the service
This was my first time coming here and it will be my last. My reservation was for 7:15 p.m our chef didn't come out til 8 something. When he finally came out he didn't even put on a show not even one egg trick . He was so quiet just cooked the food and left. My food was bland and dry. It was my bf birthday and he did not enjoy. I would recommend lumix hibachi and grill in Lynbrook.
I do absolutely love Benihana. My major complaint is the inconsistency. The waiters will make the food differently each time. Sometimes the wait staff is slow. This time the waitress was great. The chef however over cooked the food and didn't give all the veggies to everyone like he should have. I keep going back because I love the flavors so I just deal with everything else.
I had a HORRIBLE experience there. Waiters were not attentive. Drink we're horrible and the manager! Don't let me even start with the manager. He is so disrespectful and will roll his eyes at you without hesitation. Didn't car about our concerns and service and hid in the kitchen after we had a conversation about how displeased we were.
So disappointing! Thursday, September 21, 2017, our family went to Benihana of Westbury to celebrate my birthday as usual but let me tell you the place is nothing like it used to be.
We had a 5:00 reservation as our granddaughter had soccer practice at 6:30, normally plenty of time but sadly not so this time. We were sat within 10 minutes but then left waiting at the table for 25 minutes. Just as I got up to complain the waiter came over. He was very nice and apologized for delay, we told him we appreciated the apology but also explained our time limitations and told him we needed to move things along. Note: We did not fault the waiter (in his tip), totally feel this is a management fault/problem.
Anyway, waiter took drink and food order then disappeared for another 15 minutes. As our time was quickly depleting I got up yet again to ask the manager/hostess what was going on?!, and she was very cavalier. The waiter, after serving our drinks, told us he was going to help the Chef get our order together - WHAT/REALLY!? Is this normal or because I complained??
The Chef finally appeared and we told him we needed our daughter/granddaughters meals first so they could leave, he accommodated this but made more mistakes with the utensils and tossing of shrimp tails show - even I could have done better!
While two would have been missing (they made practice 10 minutes late),we didn't get the usual special occasion photo; maybe Benihana did away with the Polaroids but dang at least offer to take it on the cell phone.
Also, bathrooms were dirty and sloppy (husband confirmed same in men's room), water all over sinks and floors. Towel dispenser in ladies room so low to counter when towel is dispensed they hit the sloppy counter and get wet.
All this frustration for a cost of $225; understand cost would not be an issue if there were no problems!!
Will be a very long time, if ever, that we return to this Benihana - maybe one of the other locations will be better.
