Benihana - Troy Ratings and Reviews
Noisy and never fails that we get terrible table mates that nearly ruin our experience every time we go.
They didn't understand that there was a difference in what was done and served at another location and 3 times "politely brushed" my question off.
If it's not for a special occasion, I wouldn't bother going here
After our initial contact, we didn't see our waitress again until it was time to leave. No drinks refilled, table not cleaned...nothing. She screwed up the order and the chef had to correct it. Our chef was fun and the food was good. When she brought our bill, there were 2 extra meals on our bill and all of the other bills were wrong. It took 2 return trips to get that right. She never brought some items from the kitchen to complete our order. Overall very poor service that killed the entire experience. One of the worst dining experiences of my life..!!!
We waited over an hour to get seated and we had a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. Not sure if I plan to come back due to the wait times. I think it would have been different if we walked in for a table and didn't make a reservation. Food was good. It was super loud to a point where we were shouting over each other and to the waitress to place our order.
The waiter did not tend to the table at all. He forgot our orders and did not provide us with silverware. We did not receive the rice for our children until after he brought all of the bills. However, Zack the chef was awesome and my child really enjoyed his performance.
The server we had was the worse I have ever had I was in the area at the time, my family and I typically go to the location in Northville. The sever did not speak good English the chief informed the table that he has worked for Benihana for 18 years. The food was not seasoned well his customer service was not pleasant, nor was his English clear. That was my first and last time attending that location. The sushi was very soft and not hot (las Vegas rolls)- we never received refills of our beverage- the chief also added egg to my rice which I am allergic to.
servers and chefs need to speak up. it was very hard to hear and understand what was being said. You must have cut out the warm towels for hands? Food could have been better this time around. soup, salad and fried rice were awesome as always, but steak was over cooked to my liking. Using a different type of mushroom also not a fan of.
The quality and clientelle of this restaurant has plummeted in the last year. It is too loud, flavorless food, and not enough staff. The sushi bar used to be a favorite place to find a table at short notice but the staff has stopped allowing walk-in seating (no reservations can be made in advance for this area) even though the sushi bar area is usually more than half empty. We have been turned away multiple times with the excuse that there isn't enough staff for that area, and they prefer to give priority to the main dining area! What kind of poorly run restaurant turns away good business!
Drinks were expensive, made wrong and took 2 returns to use correct alcohol. Long island , was clear..... all alcohol, good foe us ,but wrong.
Someone at our table spilled water all on my plate, manager did not clean up . They should have made me all new rice , but bc my bowl was upside down they did not. Meanwhile , mushrooms were served, but I was skipped bc I had to wait for a new plate. None saved or offered. Waitress did not wipe up remixing water all over table
Before we were seated I asked the hostess if we could have seats away from the dozens of high school kids there for homecoming. She said yes and ushered us to our table. Minutes later, here come 9 high school kids. Seriously? When I told the other hostess she said she sat us there and had no idea we had requested otherwise. Communication breakdown?? We asked to be moved and we ended up waiting another 10 minutes. Oh and the 6:00 reservation did no good whatsoever
I felt like i was rushed. I was seated without my guest and was told they would be brought to me. 20 mins later my guest is finally brought to me but this is after she had been told that my reservation didn't exist. My food was lukewarm and my shrimp was tough. My birthday dinner was not very good at all 😢
