Benihana - Torrance Ratings and Reviews
me and my son always had fun everytime we come here..
we like the food and the service the only thing.for the 1st time it happened i ordered fried rice to go before we got our check and when we left my son remember mommy u didnt get ur fried rice...so i came back to the restaurant and asked the front desk to ask our waiter if she charged me for my friend rice to go and she found out that she didnt so i didnt bother to order it cz we left our table already
cz im.pretty sure were gonna need to wait...but it supposed to be prepare before we pay our bill since i ordered it ahead of time its just i forgot about it.i dont what happened maybe the waitress got interrupted thats why she forgot...but other than that im very satisfied with your service and it wont stop me from.coming just bcz that incident happened..
thanks and keep up the good work
Chef messed up on the rice. Way too much soy sauce and pepper, missing salt, and did not grill the rice enough, resulting in a very dark mushy rice. This is the first time I did not enjoy the food here. We frequent this location quite often. We wasted our money on 7 bowls of chicken fried rice. It's all about the Chicken Fried Rice!
Our waitress wasn’t friendly. She would disappear. We had to ask questions to other waiters that would walk by. She wasn’t of great assistance to our chef either. He had to walk away to get bowls and as a result the rice burned. Our chef was funny and kids friendly!!!
Ambiance was great, people having a good time. Food was exceptional as well as our chef. We were seated with a reservation very quickly, even though we were about 30 minutes early. The food is expensive, but you get quality food and also a "chef show" with your meal. The waitress was very kind and on top of things for the whole table of 8. Great place for family fun or just a date night. Had a great time.
Overall dinner was really good
One of my favor spot for my bday celebration specially this particular location ,I love the entired atmosphere the chef was great and the waitress love her attitude
I would definitely recommend this place to friends and relatives .
I always love the food and the atmosphere, however on this particular occasion, the service was a bit lax. I had to ask twice for my plain rice, which finally came after most of the food was cooked. Also, they never did come with my original drink request. It was pretty unusual as I have always before been very pleased with the service.
Had lunch and our chef was Pedjay who was extremely entertaining and friendly, and he cooked everything perfectly. This was the first time we had him as our chef and we hope to get him again.
Our server must have been new because he was extremely slow to bring things to the table - hot tea, water, napkins and when he did bring the tea it was cold. It took four times of asking for more tea and napkins. He had to be asked three times to bring the steamed rice which came with the child's menu and at the end of the meal he said we would have to be charged for the child's green tea ice cream because it was lunch. Another server told him the ice cream comes with the child's meal - and that of course took another 5 minutes before he brought it. He definitely needs more training.
Chef forgot to give us the 2 sauces, until he was reminded at the very end. Also, individuals that ordered just white rice didn’t get them until after all the food was cooked. Given that I ordered the seafood trio all my food was cooked early and I then had to wait until the chef finished cooking and I reminded the chef that we didn’t get our sauces as well as our rice. That being the case all my food as well as my wife’s was cold at that point, and we had to ask the chef to put all of our food back on the grill to heat it up. Therefore the food was not as good because of the reheating. Just to note this was on my birthday that I visited.
The Torrance Benihana is notorious for slow seating and slow service. We arrived at 6pm for a 615pm reservation. As we sat, a woman marched out complaining that she had been waiting for over 30 minutes and had not received even a glass of water. Gulp...we were in for a long one.
Much to our surprise they seated us at her now empty seats and our service could not have been more on point. The other guests had their drinks arrive as we sat down. Our order was taken and the soup arrived.
The management needs to figure out ways to trim line the system. You know how much time it takes to cooks the meals and Work back from there.
As for the food, our chef did a great job of catering to each person’s dietary likes and needs.
We love the land and sea with the fried chicken rice.
I have been dining with this location for several years I have never experienced this type of service before. My reservations was at 11:00 I was seated at 11:30 my order was taken at 12:30 yes an hour I could not believe I was seated an whole hour before my order was taken an to top it off the Waiter was very unpleasant bad attitude screwed up everyone order at the table. Everyone was confused 🤷🏻♀️ As to what the hell was going on 🤔service was terrible. However the manager came to apologize about the bad service and accommodated us with 1/2 off the bill😩but what I can say i will continue to go there I’m guessing the waiter was having a bad day.
Went in tonight for my daughter's birthday. Waiting for friends, we sat in the bar for a few minutes. Good cocktails, and delicious appetizers. When our friends showed up we were seated right away. Dinner was amazing, and our chef, Nelson, was very entertaining and really made my birthday girl the star of the show. Kudos for the top shelf service all around. We'll definitely be coming back frequently.
Do yourself a favor and check it out.
My family has been coming to the Torrance Benihanas for over 16 years. The reason we keep coming back is the teppan cooking and service. Our last visit everything was excellent except for the waitresses. They were borderline rude. I wasn’t the only one who noticed this. Everyone in my family and friends that were there also felt the same way. I hope Torrance Benihanas manager reads this review and the next time we visit Benihanas we get the service we come to expect.
We eat here fairly often, including a couple weeks before the day I am reviewing. While always pretty good, our chef Carlos this last time was excellent!!!! He had the spices just perfect! I think it was the best meal Ibever had at a Benihana’s. Carlos should be commended for his excellent chef skills!!!
Torrance Benihana food is great but the show is subpar and boring in comparison to every location I have visited (Encino, Santa Monica, & San Diego). They mixed up my reservation time causing my group to wait 45mins to be seated. Food is great, the serivce and show not so much. I’d highly recommend visiting the Santa Monica or Encinitas location for the fun, friendly, and more create Chefs.
It’s always so good at Benihana’s! My fiancée & I love the Torrance location, the vibes are great! We had a nice waitress & a fun cook named Beto, he made the whole experience pleasant! Also fast which was good since we were starving by the time we got there. Thank you!!
