Our server, Jacob was great. Very friendly, professional, quick to serve and get anything we asked for and was able to meet Gina, who was so friendly, professional and kind. Love Benihana and so sorry they have to close down outdoor seating.
Food was great! Service was Amazing!! Elisa (spell check) was amazing and very quick with her service she was always available when we needed her! I will definitely comeback!
The food wasn’t that great, and it seemed like we were being rushed. The waiter was amazing but the chef didn’t do well and it was quite cold, also a lot of the food couldn’t be substituted.
food portion is definitely small, the tables were too small to hold the food, waiter was impatient, possibly tired from requests. No desert and no birthday song. However, the prices remain extremely high.
Brought my son in for his 14th birthday celebration and although I totally expected a different experience and ambience due to COVID, I did not expect the food quality to have diminished so much. I was truly disappointed and unfortunately won't plan on coming back any time soon. My husbands steak was overly cooked, my seafood was extremely bland, and just overall not a good food experience. The server was excellent which helped make up for part of my disappointment.
Our waiter was great! Food was awesome. Wait time to be seated took a bit, about 10 minutes after our scheduled reservation. Waiter made up for it though in promptly taking our order.
We happened to get there about an hour before our reservation and the first hostess told us we would have to wait until our reservation time because there were earlier reservations. The outdoor dining area had about 4-5 empty tables. However, a second gentleman saw us standing outside and when we told him we were an hour early for our reservation, he said “Let me see what I can do.” He went inside and come out and immediately seated us. The food and ambiance were as good as they can be considering the times we’re in...outdoor seating under a canopy with heaters. The heaters didn’t keep us warm enough so we ate with our jackets on. Everything would’ve been perfect except the hostess who wanted us to wait, walked by about 4 times, rolling her eyes at us. I guess she was mad because the other guy seated us. Also, no birthday pictures due to COVID. The food was absolutely delicious though.
Stick to Take Out ONLY until this Pandemic is over! It's way too Cold to be eating outside Unless you put a patio heat unit next to Every table. Very Unpleasant! The food is cold before you can finish!
It was extremely cold and the heating lamps weren’t working at all food got cold fast.
Although we sat outdoors the service we received was excellent. The food was cooked inside the restaurant so we missed the show but the quality of the food was still the way we remember it. It was also nice and hot when it arrived. Can’t wait for this pandemic to end so we can dine in again.
Benihana needs to block the wind coming from the west through the outside dining area.

This wasn’t a typical Benihana experience. We've been numerous times, so I can say this with confidence. There were no hibachi grills, bad service, and cold food. We were checked in at the entrance way and escorted to the outdoor dining area (corner of the parking lot). It was a tented area with about 10 tables different heights. The tables were on outdoor carpet with 2 heat lamps as well. There was nothing fancy or impressive. Once seated, a server came and explained how to view the menu from the qr code paper on the table. She said she was covering for another server on break. She took our drink order and left. There were about 5 parties total, all socially distanced apart. Our server came and took our food order. I told her we were celebrating birthdays and she took our certificate. A 3rd server came shortly after with soup, salad, and silverware. My soup was lukewarm and my husband's was hot. There was barely any dressing on the salad, so I asked for more. Only a few minutes later, the 3rd server returned with our meals and no dressing. He said “oh, I forgot your dressing, I'll go get it.” I said we haven't finished our soup, and waiting on dressing, how can you bring our food so fast? He said, “I'll take it and keep it warm until you’re ready.” I asked but what if I wanted garlic butter, he said “I'll take care of it.” He returned with the dressing and left to tend the remaining guests. Meanwhile we watched employees leave and guests dwindling. When he brought our food back, the plates were hot, but the food warm. He sat down the garlic butter and it was definitely not melted. He saw the expression on our face and quickly grabbed it to pop in the microwave. When he returned it was still only partially melted. We never complained, but I told my husband I would notify the company. We weren't offered our ice cream, or our birthdays acknowledged. Unless you're there just to eat with no expectations and need a place to sit and eat, I suggest that you get it to go.
Didn’t feel like the tables were 6ft apart....
Because of COVID-19 we had to do takeout. The food was cooked perfectly. The only thing missing was the onion ring volcano.

Although the set-up is a little different, the food is better than ever. They have even made the portions larger to make up for the fact that they don't cook right in front of you.

Considering the new social distancing policy, the prices should be lowered. Its not the same experience.

Greeter (Sophia) & the manager on duty (Mario) on duty were very rude. We had reservations for 10pm & had to wait almost 30 minutes before we were actually seated, and didn’t think to offer any explanation at first. Sophia called the manager over “could you please help these people” (in this climate with black people) because she did not want to deal with the questions as to why our reservation wasn’t honored at the specific time it was supposed to be. Mario was clearly irritated & saying “let me explain something to you” very disrespectful with hand gestures, then went on to explain about social distancing and things might take longer than usual. We get it, but there was no warning beforehand whatsoever when we first arrived, so we had no clue what was going on, & a person at our open table was seated before us at an empty table that had a reservation at 10:30. I want to say that the waiter and cook were great, it was just the issue with Sophia and the acting manager Mario.
The chef did not put any enthusiasm when he cooked. The chicken was chewy and possibly raw. My boyfriend and I let home sick.
We enjoyed our Lunch and very good service. Will come back for sure.
Food was cooked far away from us. Waitress was never around. Old fat guy with white hair came over to our table to stack the empty plates before we left. Very rude. He made lots of noise. He didn't ask us how are meal was. A very poor experience overall. We were never offered desert. I won't be coming back.

Always exceeds our expectations. Great food and great service. Practiced distancing, our food cooked in the next table. All employees wore masks. It’s our fav restaurant to show off to friends from other places who haven’t experienced the style of food preparation. We’ll go back again and again!

Food was wonderful as always staff was great! But the whole entertainment the reason why we go to Benihannas was not there our tried his best. But since they are now cooking at the next table over where you can't see it wasn't as good for what we pay for.
Was not told that the chef would not be cooking at our table until we checked in. No notice on Benihana website or on Open Table. After salad, food was served all at once. It used to be served as it was cooked so everything was hot. Our shrimp appetizer and vegetables were all Room temp. Very disappointing.
Showed up at 12:40 for our 12:45 reservation. No one was at the front desk. Did not get sat till 1:20pm. NOT ACCEPTABLE to wait OVER 30 minutes for a reservation!!! Server was amazing and so was the hibachi cook. Restaurant seemed grossly overstaffed for CoVid times as there were 5 employees standing around the micros/computer area. I prefer the Downey location over Torrance.
Went for the birthday. Advised if the birthday and the staff didn’t do anything even after being reminded. They are currently NOT cooking in front of you which defeats the purpose of going and the cost. I will not be going back to a place we used to frequent several times a month. Just not worth the price of admission any more.
Father’s day celebration
I really enjoyed myself. To be honest I was nervous about going since we have to wear masks everywhere. I love that the chef gave us personal space and the fact we had a table to ourselves.
All things considered with this pandemic upon us I must say Benihana pulled off a nice dinner. Even though we couldn’t be entertained with the chef in front of us the food was still as delicious as ever.
They are doing their best within the new rules. So with what they are working with it was very good
30 minutes past our reservations finally seated but not in front of your chef. stupid and worthless experience.
