Unfortunately we had an additional 20 minute wait, after our 6:30 reservation. Once we were seated, our chef didn’t come until 8. The chef was great and was the best part of the night. Unfortunately after letting the server know, she gave my wife a sauce with gluten after informing her my wife had celiac. Only the chef caught it after she had consumed some. After speaking to the manager, we were told the wait was because multiple tables stayed late. But from what I saw, the restaurant was I understaffed, and seemingly they overbook on this website. I would book a half hour early from when you want to be sat, as this is not the first time this has happened. May be my last time there.

Horrible service. We sat for 1 hour and our chef never came out. The waiter didnt come to refill our drinks while we waited. Since they sold their company it has gone down hill. It is worse than chilis now

Horrible service ruined two little girls’ birthdays. 3 hours. Orders wrong. Management gave pretty much a “sorry, not sorry sort of response.” Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Unfortunately even with a 6pm reservation for 3, we did not even get seated until 6:30. The chef did not even begin cooking the meal until about 7:30, and we were not finished with the meal until about 8:30-8:45. As much as my kids and I enjoy the atmosphere and food, it simply is just not worth returning due to the extremely long wait times even with a reservation. I understand it is a whole show process and a lot longer than a standard restaurant, but spending 3 hours there with little kids is just too much so we will not be returning other than picking up food to go.

If you haven’t been to Beni in a while, the prices are extremely high. Party of 2, total was $202, keep in mind we did have 3 drinks. Anyways, chef Earl did amazing! Food was tasty! Request Earl to get your moneys worth!

2 chefs out waited from 715 reservation until 9pm to begin watching the meal be made. It was my birthday so a major mood killer. My young children didn't get to enjoy the show. The chefs first day show sucked and food was bland. Very disappointing

didn't get to eat here. I made a reservation for 6:45pm and at 7:30pm had still not been seated. When we checked in, there was no mention of a 45 minute wait. We would have left and eaten somewhere else. Our night was ruined as we did not get to eat until late. We were celebrating two birthdays. Very disappointing experience.

Been going to Benihana for decades. The restaurant has become nothing but an Olive Garden experience. Poor service, staff is unenthusiastic. Hosts literally lack any level of happiness. Wait staff was over worked & unavailable. Took us 2:40 hrs to be sat & done. That’s is too long. I’m appalled at how the place has gone down hill. Manager is secretly overweight & lazy & doesn't understand the whole concept of Benihana. It’s sad. The company has taken the whole experience & shifted it away from their traditional Japanese flair. Not sure I’ll go here again.

Roberto was GREAT he was serving a few tables at once and our cook was BERT :) One thing I will say is everyone was working very hard especially to serve us our food. Although we had to wait then ask for our Appetizers they were finally served. Water refills came regularly that was good. The one thing that really disappointed me was cramming 10 adults at the serving area where chef cooked was unacceptable I spent over $600 and NO ONE WAS COMFORTABLE while eating. I put it in my notes to seat us at regular table if the chef table was for eight people . :(

I moved away from this location about a decade ago and since started frequenting other locations. Being the the area, I decided to stop into the Torrance location. Put my name in and was told to wait in the bar. Sat in the bar and the bartenders just looked at me and never once asked if they could get me anything. Luckily my phone notified me that my table was ready. I go to my table and 3 of the 8 guests that are seated at table are not there yet. The server takes drink orders, then disappears and does not return for about 20 minutes with our drinks. About 10 minutes later, the other 3 guests arrive, so now the server came back to take the rest of the drink orders. About 20 minutes after that, the tepanyaki chef arrives (this is approx 50 minutes after being seated). As our orders are being read off, 5 of the 8 orders were taken wrong so the chef had to go find the server to retake the orders. Another 15 minutes later the cooking finally began. The chef "EJ" was friendly but was too friendly with a few of the other guests and delayed the food preparation longer than needed. From the time I was seated until I had food on my plate was about 1hr 15 minutes. To show how slow my service was, 2 other groups came and went from the table adjacent to ours before I could finish my meal. Once the server, served the drinks we went AWOL. Drink refills and additional drinks from the bar was fetched by the chef, which extended the meal longer than necessary. Once the meal was finished, magically our server returned with a big smile asking if we needed anything. Disappeared for close to 2 hours then comes back when it's time to tip. The entire time the manager is at the bar chatting it up with the bartender and never once bothered to look up to see my table being totally unattended. Never going back to this locations.
