Benihana - The Woodlands Ratings and Reviews
I am really not impressed with our visit to Benihana's. There were 9 of us (2 being children) and we were waited on by the Manager not a server and he was obviously busy and didn't do continuous checks on the table and looked like the last thing he wanted to do was wait on our party. It felt rushed. We waited for a long time for drinks...to the point I didn't want a second one by the time he came back to take my order...$12 loss for Benihana. The steamed rice that 2 people at our table ordered came AFTER we received the last of the food and because we asked about it. In regards to the chef, she was fine/okay..that's it. She didn't interact with the table at all. Didn't speak to us or make it fun or ask why we were visiting...didn't engage with the children. I have been there before and typically the chefs are much more engaging and entertaining and make it a fun experience. The chef really killed the experience on top of everything else. I even made a reservation well in advance and confirmed day of. It was my husband's birthday and I expected better. We won't be back, especially since there is so many other restaurants in The Woodlands.
The cook was amazing as always, I try to get her because she knows what she is doing and the food is always perfect, the waiter was great to say there was a large group, the only mess up was adding an item to another person ticket that she easily fixed, the only problem I had was that I had reservations for 8pm but was not seated until about 8:50pm. Other than that everything was perfect.
Thank you, my son had a great time for his 17th birthday......
Food, service was good. Family friendly restaurant for fun occasions. Was expecting more personal feel as opposed to a get your order by number feel. Everything was rushed so that the next family could take our table. The atmosphere was energetic but filled with excessive pockets of too loud groups of people. Lighting was poor. Felt like I was eating at a cafeteria.
The cooking of the food was a little too mechanical. Sorry, not trying to be negative but was expecting a little more of a personal touch.
Was truly expecting more for the money that I paid.
The manager was unprofessional and the restaurant is filthy. Even though the food was good we would never go back. The corporation needs to know how this restaurant is not living up to it’s name. One would have to think there is no quality control for their franchised restaurants.
Reservation was for 8 pm but did not get seated until 8:30. The ppl next to us said there reservation was 7:30 and did not get seated until 8:30. Probably waited to put all of us at the same table. That is not right. Waitress took forever to get to us. The chef that cook did not do any tricks. Drop an egg on the floor and did not ask someone to bring a new one. Fried rice was kinda burn. Longest dinner we ever ate. 10 pm by the time we were done. Do not go to this Benihana. Worst Benihana of them all.
Benihana used to be an “event.” The chefs would put on a delightful show in addition to cooking good food. Now, there is no effort to engage the customer (the chefs don’t even look up or at you anymore) and the food is poor. Chewy steak, over salted chicken, bag salad, etc. Overall, an over expensive, poor quality experience.
We were all disappointed in our special Birthday lunch at the Woodlands Benihana's. The service was less than good, the food was OK, the wait time was way, way too long. One of our guests had to go to the bar and get a drink of water because no one serviced our table for a very long time after we were seated. This was our December birthday lunch and 4 of the 6 people had a December birthday........it was not what we expected. Other Benihana locations have been a wonderful experience, but this one was not.
Sucked, I had a reservation for 7:30. Didn't get seated until 8:30. Took until 9:00 to get our beverages. I also put on the reservation that it was my wifes birthday. The waiter also asked if there was any special occasions here at the table and I stated it was my wifes birthday. Still no happy birthday chant or anything. Way understaffed and the hostess at the time was rude. Very disappointed and will not be back. DO NOT RECOMMEND VISITING THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Food wasn't all that great either.
Bad experience...in visiting from NYC, and some other customers lied to host that they were us and took our seats while we waited in the bar area after checking in with host 20 minutes earlier, who stated they would come fetch us when table was ready. After asking what management would do to rectify the situation...we got literally 'deer in the headlights'. No apologies; no - we'll sit you now and comp your meals; no - we'll remove the other customers who took your places and ask them to leave. Nada. We went to Flemings and had a great meal! All good for us, not so good for Beni! Looking back now, it was amateur hour...oh, by the way, the bar area was a mess, dirty glasses everywhere. Obvious lack of management and leadership and any kind of commitment to excellence.
I stood at the entrance waiting for someone to acknowledge my presence for 10 minutes. It took a waitress Hailey to come and say hello. She advised the greeter it was people waiting and his response was "they will just have to wait, I'm taking care of TO-GO orders". The shift manager came of front with a nonchalant attitude. I still tried to make the best of it.... Waiter messed up my order and took 15 minutes to check out when I was paying cash.
The food was good but the cook placed food on wrong plates, had to go back to the kitchen for more food and was not entertaining at all we had to look at another table for the cooks entertainment and when she did the train which was supposed to be onion and zucchini pushed across the grill with a lil flame from the onion all we got was half an onion slice pushed across the grill no tapping or anything else. We had to entertain ourselves or watch it at another table and the waitress was slow and just st kept the change at least she thought that’s what was going to happen without asking if I wanted my change back. My bf had to get up and go get straws for the table. Not a good experience at all
What a disappointment! Benihana is always a fun place to dine with the entertaining table side chefs. We ate here Saturday night and took a group of 4 kids. Benihana is typically one of their favorite places to go because they love the entertainment and interest of watching the hibachi chef. In my opinion the food is never fantastic, but it's generally ok. We had the worst hibachi chef Saturday! She did not smile, did not talk, did not do anything other than the bare minimum of cooking and looked miserable doing it! The kids in our group were especially disappointed as they had invited friends to come along for the fun. The food is not worth it at Benihana. The only reason we go there is for the experience. We had not been in a while so maybe the hibachi experience isn't their top priority any longer? I don't know, but the service in general was lacking. We left disappointed.
Chef troy kept bosating he was better then benihanas with saying his garlic buttwrnis way better then theres and he made teeiyaki sauce yesterday so he should have his own and i wan't too fond of how he treated the chefs next to him and waitress nancy. The food was bland starting with the rice. An extra charge i might add for fried rice that was basic. Chicken tasted worse and bland as well. The kids and i couldn't eat it. The fried zucchini was burnt and same basic bland taste. We werent served the green tea listed on the menu or even spoken to about our occasion for visit. It was listed on my reservation it was for my grandmas 66th birthday and a cupcake was requested but was never addressed or given.
The worse service and food ever. Would never return.
It was for my 13 year old grand daughters Birthday. The food was very good and well prepared but the Chef offered almost zero entertainment value. We had this event at this location so the kids 6 from ages 10 -14 could see the tricks and jokes offered by the chef as they prepared the meal. Overall that was a huge disappointment and took a lot of value away from the meal.
Fine restaurant with good ambianc. Food was ok, but we were sat 20 min after our resurvatio and since it was toward closing we didn't get all of the meal. Hot tea was included but since it was time to close we were not offered. So overall it was a so so experience
We left very disappointed. All aspects of the experience took well beyond a reasonable amount of time. By the end we even hesitated to get ice cream for the kids since the entire meal had already been painfully slow but we figured bowls of ice cream would be quick. 25 minutes later we got 3 small bowls of ice cream that should have taken no more than 5 minutes to prepare! In addition, the steak over way over cooked and the scallops were burned. Moreover, we needed to ask multiple times for another drink, soy sauce, etc. So unfortunately what we had hoped would be a fun birthday dinner for our son turned out to be a let down.
The girl who was at the check in was rude and uninviting we had a reservation of course (with a 20 min wait) and she never made eye contact with us. I wanted to leave immedialty but my boyfriend wanted to stay so we did. The 2 bartenders were very inviting and friendly while we waited we had some drinks and they were very engaged while busy even which made he mood much better. They only had 3 or 4 chefs that night and a full house so it look about 2 hours or so to have dinner which is excessive for me in comparison to other benihanas, all the other groups at the table contemplated leaving as well seeing as how when you go to dinner your already hungry not expecting not to eat until 1 hour ½ later. The waitress and chef were both very nice and the food was good. No one acknowledged my birthday even after I presented my birthday certificate but another birthday at the table with me was acknowledged which I thought was rude especially since I put Birthday on my reservation. Not that I need anyone to sing to me but at least acknowledge the occasion. I will probably be returning to the westheimer location next time.
Made a reservation and still had to wait about 45 minutes after arrival. It was understandable because the stafff was shorthanded due to a natural disaster a few days before. Good thing is we could sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited. Overall it was a good night.
Horrible service. I set up a reservation for my girlfriend for 7:30pm. We didn't get seated until 9pm. After getting seated we waited another 30-40 mins to get our drink orders. After waiting so long with my party of 8, I called the manager and told him to cancel our food because we were tired of waiting.
By far the worst service. When I ate my to-go plate at home I found a gray hair from our chef.
