Benihana - The Woodlands Ratings and Reviews
I stood at the entrance waiting for someone to acknowledge my presence for 10 minutes. It took a waitress Hailey to come and say hello. She advised the greeter it was people waiting and his response was "they will just have to wait, I'm taking care of TO-GO orders". The shift manager came of front with a nonchalant attitude. I still tried to make the best of it.... Waiter messed up my order and took 15 minutes to check out when I was paying cash.
The food was good but the cook placed food on wrong plates, had to go back to the kitchen for more food and was not entertaining at all we had to look at another table for the cooks entertainment and when she did the train which was supposed to be onion and zucchini pushed across the grill with a lil flame from the onion all we got was half an onion slice pushed across the grill no tapping or anything else. We had to entertain ourselves or watch it at another table and the waitress was slow and just st kept the change at least she thought that’s what was going to happen without asking if I wanted my change back. My bf had to get up and go get straws for the table. Not a good experience at all
What a disappointment! Benihana is always a fun place to dine with the entertaining table side chefs. We ate here Saturday night and took a group of 4 kids. Benihana is typically one of their favorite places to go because they love the entertainment and interest of watching the hibachi chef. In my opinion the food is never fantastic, but it's generally ok. We had the worst hibachi chef Saturday! She did not smile, did not talk, did not do anything other than the bare minimum of cooking and looked miserable doing it! The kids in our group were especially disappointed as they had invited friends to come along for the fun. The food is not worth it at Benihana. The only reason we go there is for the experience. We had not been in a while so maybe the hibachi experience isn't their top priority any longer? I don't know, but the service in general was lacking. We left disappointed.
Chef troy kept bosating he was better then benihanas with saying his garlic buttwrnis way better then theres and he made teeiyaki sauce yesterday so he should have his own and i wan't too fond of how he treated the chefs next to him and waitress nancy. The food was bland starting with the rice. An extra charge i might add for fried rice that was basic. Chicken tasted worse and bland as well. The kids and i couldn't eat it. The fried zucchini was burnt and same basic bland taste. We werent served the green tea listed on the menu or even spoken to about our occasion for visit. It was listed on my reservation it was for my grandmas 66th birthday and a cupcake was requested but was never addressed or given.
The worse service and food ever. Would never return.
It was for my 13 year old grand daughters Birthday. The food was very good and well prepared but the Chef offered almost zero entertainment value. We had this event at this location so the kids 6 from ages 10 -14 could see the tricks and jokes offered by the chef as they prepared the meal. Overall that was a huge disappointment and took a lot of value away from the meal.
Fine restaurant with good ambianc. Food was ok, but we were sat 20 min after our resurvatio and since it was toward closing we didn't get all of the meal. Hot tea was included but since it was time to close we were not offered. So overall it was a so so experience
We left very disappointed. All aspects of the experience took well beyond a reasonable amount of time. By the end we even hesitated to get ice cream for the kids since the entire meal had already been painfully slow but we figured bowls of ice cream would be quick. 25 minutes later we got 3 small bowls of ice cream that should have taken no more than 5 minutes to prepare! In addition, the steak over way over cooked and the scallops were burned. Moreover, we needed to ask multiple times for another drink, soy sauce, etc. So unfortunately what we had hoped would be a fun birthday dinner for our son turned out to be a let down.
The girl who was at the check in was rude and uninviting we had a reservation of course (with a 20 min wait) and she never made eye contact with us. I wanted to leave immedialty but my boyfriend wanted to stay so we did. The 2 bartenders were very inviting and friendly while we waited we had some drinks and they were very engaged while busy even which made he mood much better. They only had 3 or 4 chefs that night and a full house so it look about 2 hours or so to have dinner which is excessive for me in comparison to other benihanas, all the other groups at the table contemplated leaving as well seeing as how when you go to dinner your already hungry not expecting not to eat until 1 hour ½ later. The waitress and chef were both very nice and the food was good. No one acknowledged my birthday even after I presented my birthday certificate but another birthday at the table with me was acknowledged which I thought was rude especially since I put Birthday on my reservation. Not that I need anyone to sing to me but at least acknowledge the occasion. I will probably be returning to the westheimer location next time.
Made a reservation and still had to wait about 45 minutes after arrival. It was understandable because the stafff was shorthanded due to a natural disaster a few days before. Good thing is we could sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited. Overall it was a good night.
Horrible service. I set up a reservation for my girlfriend for 7:30pm. We didn't get seated until 9pm. After getting seated we waited another 30-40 mins to get our drink orders. After waiting so long with my party of 8, I called the manager and told him to cancel our food because we were tired of waiting.
By far the worst service. When I ate my to-go plate at home I found a gray hair from our chef.
Overall the experience was acceptable. It was my sons 19th birthday and it was a first visit for him and his two siblings. My only dissapointment was the lack of involvement of our chef. She was nice, but didnt say much or interact like the other chefs were doing at other grills. My kids were totally distracted by the exciting experience happening behind us.I really wished they wouldve recieved that experience too...The food was great, however ,We may request a more lively chef next time...or go to the downtown location.Thank you
I selected this restaurant because of the brand's reputation for excellent service, wonderful food, amazing ambiance, and one-of-a-kind experience. I was disappointed. Extremely, gravely, disappointed.
The restaurant was crowded, with tables too close together, high-chairs placed on nearly every corner, and loud to the point you couldn’t have a conversation. The staff, though friendly and as attentive as possible, were physically sweating and unable to provide any sort of friendly attention. The table chefs were simply there to cook the food – nothing more.
The food was ok, but I could have gotten the same quality at my local takeout restaurant. Certainly not worth the cost. The interactive experience that Benihana’s is known for didn’t exist. Not just my table, but none of the tables seem to be having anything other than a simple dinner cooked on their table. During our meal, the restaurant ran out of ice for their drinks, clean flatware for their guests and necessary utensils for their chefs.
My past visits to Benihanas, while not this location, was memorable. It was enjoyable, entertaining, delicious and worthy of repeating. After this visit I can honestly say I won’t return to a Benihana restaurant, nor will I recommend it to anyone. The experience was not in ANY way worth the more than $100 dinner. I would have had a better meal had I gone to my local Genghis Grill.
We came here on our 10-yr wedding anniversary weekend and it was such a blessing! We enjoyed our time eating and watching the food get cooked in front of us, but we were also happily pleased with the couple we sat next to. They were also celebrating their wedding anniversary and we wound up having a wonderful conversation with them. This meal was a full-package experience that didn't disappoint!
Slow horrible service, no show or entertainment during the preparation. Steak was tough and chewing, soup and rice was still good, no dessert offered that is/was included.
Contacted a manager took off a 1/3 of the bill though. We won't be back for awhile and we are here often in the past.
Unfortunately the experience has made my wife and I decide we never have to go back. The appetizer cam after our soup and salad. Tempura veggies were way overcooked. We had 5 children between 10 and 13, the chef did one beating heart... literally that was it for showmanship..sorry he did toss an egg and crack it on the spatula. The food was bland and all over the place.... for example, everyone had their food for a good 8 minutes and plates were fairly empty, at this point all the onions were served. They literally covered 1/2 my plate. Who wants onions by them self.... All in All, terrible, not worth the money and most of all, a wasted experience opportunity for the kids
