Benihana - The Woodlands Ratings and Reviews
It was great, Alway enjoy dining here would recommend to anyone. Celebrate my Birthday here every year and dine here all time. Sometimes you are just seated with the wrong group of people not outgoing and don't talk much so it can kinda hinder dinner but the chef and the taste of food makes up for it.
Good Japanese hibachi cooking and food quality. Saturday evening was very busy. Although we had a reservation, had to wait 30 minutes for a table and another 30 minutes at the table for drink order and to order from menu. Food prepared well but my order was missing chicken and had to resolve after all meals were served
We were looking forward to a great experience of “eyes on” cooking but were greatly disappointed by the staff they have cooking before you!! Our chef lacked motivation as he acted like he could care less if he was there....the food is way overpriced for the taste....it was pretty much tasteless...the onion soup was the favorite for us....it was the only thing worthwhile eating!! We will not be eating there again!!
My last 2 times at Benihana's Woodlands has not been a good experience. The first time the cook was a trainee and she was so nervous that she was sweating profusely probably from the heat of the stove and the pressure. This last time the cook overcooked everything. The zuchini was burnt and mushy. The shrimp was rubbery from being on the grill too long, The rice was crispy and the chicken was burned around the edges. The steak was the only thing thing that survived being that a lil burnt is okay. The whole grill was charred and that's how he kept cooking. There was food eveywhere especially the rice. There was no consistency with the flow of the meal because everything was late getting on the plate.
This was my first time visiting the restaurant I was so excited upon arrival. When I was first walked into the establishment my very first impression was that the staff isn’t so friendly. My reservation was at 845, we arrived at 830ish. The guy said rudely I’ll call you when it’s closer to your reservation time. There was no please be seated or anything. So it’s our turn, our waiter Kevin was very dry and acted as if he did not want to be at work. He didn’t offer to go over the menu nor did he ask was this our first time. So we were confused and he was bombarded with questions, that could have been avoided. After waiting an hour after getting to our section, we received our drinks. Other parties that arrived after us, were enjoying their drinks and appetizers. I brought it to the managers attentions( the same rude guy that checked us in) he said that he’ll check to see what’s the delay. There was no follow up. We asked him again, again no follow up. After an hour and a half, we received our appetizers. Our cook finally came, his cart wasn’t fully prepared, he was borrowing things from Another cook, he had to send someone to the back for more food. Our order was all over the place. He was messy, flinging rice. To top it off his beard hair was in one of the guest food. I got another manager, she said that she will take care of it. So our waiter came back after our cook left and said your food was taken care of, have a nice day. We didn’t get the parts of our meal(green tea, ice cream) nor did he offer; he just rudely dismissed us. We even had to ask for to-go boxes. The whole section received free meals for the horrible service. But I did not enjoy my first experience, and it made the establishment look very bad.
We love Benihana's but this particular visit the service was terrible. Our whole table sat with empty drinks. Steam rice for one was forgotten. No one offered us more drinks and when we had to go track down someone they came and hurriedly addressed refills and then left again. Food was good but I don't think we were given the correct portions. We won't be going back any time soon. No apologies were offered from the waiter, management or the chef.
Christmas dinner as our tradition we do Japanese food, the chef did not even talk to us. Literally no show what so ever!!! She just cooked the food is weird stages and as the final dish she served grilled onions. That right, everything was cooked but she left the onions for last. $200 and I will NEVER be back.
Grill was not clean when chef started cooking. Chef was very sloppy with food flying on to the table area. The "show"was nonexistent. The food quality was mediocre at best. The chef was talking so much he was not focused on preparing the food properly. For $100 for two people, Christmas Day, I expected a lot more than we received.
We usually go to Kobe for this type of meal and have never been disappointed there.
We took our grandson and the rest of our family to Benihana for a pre-Christmas dinner. Lots of fun watching our chef prepare our meal! Everybody had a wonderful time. The food is good, but not great. Even so, it was a wonderful evening. The service was excellent.
This trip was for my birthday with my wife and was great. The people we were sat with complained a lot and partly for good cause as the waiter was not very attentive and some of their food was over cooked. We still had a great time and our food was wonderful. My wife especially liked the noodles and seafood dish she had I had some as we shared everything and enjoyed it all. I had the large filet and lobster tail. Like I said it was wonderful and cooked correct not overcooked just like it should be. Great birthday. Thanks you see you soon. We love to get our picture each year to compare over the years.
I am really not impressed with our visit to Benihana's. There were 9 of us (2 being children) and we were waited on by the Manager not a server and he was obviously busy and didn't do continuous checks on the table and looked like the last thing he wanted to do was wait on our party. It felt rushed. We waited for a long time for drinks...to the point I didn't want a second one by the time he came back to take my order...$12 loss for Benihana. The steamed rice that 2 people at our table ordered came AFTER we received the last of the food and because we asked about it. In regards to the chef, she was fine/okay..that's it. She didn't interact with the table at all. Didn't speak to us or make it fun or ask why we were visiting...didn't engage with the children. I have been there before and typically the chefs are much more engaging and entertaining and make it a fun experience. The chef really killed the experience on top of everything else. I even made a reservation well in advance and confirmed day of. It was my husband's birthday and I expected better. We won't be back, especially since there is so many other restaurants in The Woodlands.
The cook was amazing as always, I try to get her because she knows what she is doing and the food is always perfect, the waiter was great to say there was a large group, the only mess up was adding an item to another person ticket that she easily fixed, the only problem I had was that I had reservations for 8pm but was not seated until about 8:50pm. Other than that everything was perfect.
Thank you, my son had a great time for his 17th birthday......
Food, service was good. Family friendly restaurant for fun occasions. Was expecting more personal feel as opposed to a get your order by number feel. Everything was rushed so that the next family could take our table. The atmosphere was energetic but filled with excessive pockets of too loud groups of people. Lighting was poor. Felt like I was eating at a cafeteria.
The cooking of the food was a little too mechanical. Sorry, not trying to be negative but was expecting a little more of a personal touch.
Was truly expecting more for the money that I paid.
The manager was unprofessional and the restaurant is filthy. Even though the food was good we would never go back. The corporation needs to know how this restaurant is not living up to it’s name. One would have to think there is no quality control for their franchised restaurants.
Reservation was for 8 pm but did not get seated until 8:30. The ppl next to us said there reservation was 7:30 and did not get seated until 8:30. Probably waited to put all of us at the same table. That is not right. Waitress took forever to get to us. The chef that cook did not do any tricks. Drop an egg on the floor and did not ask someone to bring a new one. Fried rice was kinda burn. Longest dinner we ever ate. 10 pm by the time we were done. Do not go to this Benihana. Worst Benihana of them all.
Benihana used to be an “event.” The chefs would put on a delightful show in addition to cooking good food. Now, there is no effort to engage the customer (the chefs don’t even look up or at you anymore) and the food is poor. Chewy steak, over salted chicken, bag salad, etc. Overall, an over expensive, poor quality experience.
We were all disappointed in our special Birthday lunch at the Woodlands Benihana's. The service was less than good, the food was OK, the wait time was way, way too long. One of our guests had to go to the bar and get a drink of water because no one serviced our table for a very long time after we were seated. This was our December birthday lunch and 4 of the 6 people had a December birthday........it was not what we expected. Other Benihana locations have been a wonderful experience, but this one was not.
Sucked, I had a reservation for 7:30. Didn't get seated until 8:30. Took until 9:00 to get our beverages. I also put on the reservation that it was my wifes birthday. The waiter also asked if there was any special occasions here at the table and I stated it was my wifes birthday. Still no happy birthday chant or anything. Way understaffed and the hostess at the time was rude. Very disappointed and will not be back. DO NOT RECOMMEND VISITING THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Food wasn't all that great either.
Bad experience...in visiting from NYC, and some other customers lied to host that they were us and took our seats while we waited in the bar area after checking in with host 20 minutes earlier, who stated they would come fetch us when table was ready. After asking what management would do to rectify the situation...we got literally 'deer in the headlights'. No apologies; no - we'll sit you now and comp your meals; no - we'll remove the other customers who took your places and ask them to leave. Nada. We went to Flemings and had a great meal! All good for us, not so good for Beni! Looking back now, it was amateur hour...oh, by the way, the bar area was a mess, dirty glasses everywhere. Obvious lack of management and leadership and any kind of commitment to excellence.
I stood at the entrance waiting for someone to acknowledge my presence for 10 minutes. It took a waitress Hailey to come and say hello. She advised the greeter it was people waiting and his response was "they will just have to wait, I'm taking care of TO-GO orders". The shift manager came of front with a nonchalant attitude. I still tried to make the best of it.... Waiter messed up my order and took 15 minutes to check out when I was paying cash.
The food was good but the cook placed food on wrong plates, had to go back to the kitchen for more food and was not entertaining at all we had to look at another table for the cooks entertainment and when she did the train which was supposed to be onion and zucchini pushed across the grill with a lil flame from the onion all we got was half an onion slice pushed across the grill no tapping or anything else. We had to entertain ourselves or watch it at another table and the waitress was slow and just st kept the change at least she thought that’s what was going to happen without asking if I wanted my change back. My bf had to get up and go get straws for the table. Not a good experience at all
