Benihana - The Woodlands
Excellent service. Excellent chefs. Best Hibachi spot
We waited over 2 hours for a table. The Hostess was not very pleasant to speak with.
Our hostess (for drinks etc) was new. On two separate occasions, she was reprimanded in front of us. She’s still learning, but clearly the staff could have pointed out the corrections offline. It was pretty awkward as we were sitting right there. She apologized at the end of the meal, but it should have been the chef and busboy that should have.
My family and I have made driving out to the Woodlands Benihana a tradition for all of our birthday celebrations for the past 8 years. This was the first time that we were disappointed. Took 20 mins to sit us even with reservations. Service was slow in the beginning and then picked up. Bathrooms were so gross. Dirty, no toilet paper, old. Carpets throughout are stained and old. Our chef was nice but not entertaining at all. The bill was almost $400 and definitely not worth the amount we spent. Place has gone downhill and doubt we will be back anytime soon.
This restaurant chain use to be worth every penny but the service is really not as good as it should be. The food is great but every time I've been to this location for the past 2 years, they short staffed. The place will be empty and the wait time is ridiculous. I appreciate the chefs that set up to help out with serving but that is should not be necessary. Reservations are necessary to eat at this location and even so my party waited 35 minutes after our reservation time to be sat. The host said 2 servers had gone on break and never returned, I've been in the industry before and that #1 is not how you greet a guest #2 not how you handle stressful situations. She was completely flustered and was not speaking respectfully to guests entering or leaving. My family & visit this restaurant often but I almost never want to step foot in this place again.
They seem to always have seating issues and this is the second time I have visited and had to wait due to staff going to break and not returning to work.
We ate at Benihana back in Feb and had a terrible experience. I wrote a review here and a new manager called me, we talked for 20 minutes, and he urged me to come back, try it again, and gave us some coupons to cover part of the cost. He said he was brought in to improve things. We went back this past Saturday night. We had a reservation for 6:45, but when we arrived we were told that they could not seat us and we'd have to wait. There were more than 50 people waiting to be seated, among them another couple who had been waiting over a half hour. We waited for 25 minutes and were seated. The other couple had left, and we luckily got their spot, otherwise I think we'd have waited a lot longer. This is unacceptable. If you can't honor a reservation time, don't take reservations. We were told the problem was that several servers quit. We counted 22 tables in the restaurant. There were 5 servers working, plus 2 managers and another guy waiting tables. Among those 8 employees, I'd think they'd have no problem keeping up with 22 tables, especially since the servers do not bring out entrees, and don't need to check on diners for anything other than drinks during the main course. The problem appeared to be lack of chefs!
My drink order was wrong, was never corrected. Our shrimp appetizer was never deveined in the kitchen. We gave them back to the chef after he'd cooked them and placed them on our plates to get them deveined. Both my husband and I ordered Land 'n Sea. The portion of scallops was minuscule. The filet mignon was cooked nicely. In that regard the chef (Alex) knew what he was doing. I didn't receive my ice cream after the meal and had to remind the server.
The restaurant was dirty. The carpet is extremely worn and threadbare. The vents above the tables were greasy and dirty.
Our chef was better than the one we had in February, but overall the experience was very much sub par. Benihana really needs to get it together. We're not going back.
Great every time!!!
A long time to give us a table, the chef took a long time to arrive, the chef was tired and did not do any shows, the place needs maintenance, the carpet is disgusting.
We had Roy and he made the experience. We weren't too fond of the people we sat with. I wish we were given the option beforehand to choose which table to sit at.
Hopefully, well have a more happy group the next time we go.
Shocking and disappointed. I booked a reservation I understand how this place can be packed. Reservations didn’t seem to matter, we showed up for a birthday for my 15 year old son and his girlfriend. She had never been and him once on my birthday. We show up, there isn’t a table ready as they were just letting walk ins take tables. Took 25 mins to be seated, because of all the walk ins they were short on chefs. It was a whole hour before the chef manage to come, it looked like he was in a rush. Part of the visit is the theatrics the chef puts on display, and all the things they do while they are cooking to leave memorable experience to first times. Of course I have seen plenty of times as I’m a frequent customer but these 2 were not. It was my son’s birthday, there was no mention, no happy birthday song, nothing. Just hurrying along to get to the next group. My bill was $179 for 3 people, the money wasn’t the issue, it was the value. There wasn’t any.
Very disappointing and shocked.
Fun place for a multi-generation family gathering. Kids loved the chef. Adults loved the food. Exciting meal for all.
Good experience. Son’s 6th birthday.
Good food and all. The only thing I can suggest is that the chef interact with all table guest and not just the ones that are regulars.
Very good show. Food excellence. Waitress kept forgetting items. Never came back to close check.
Food was as expected. I never got a single refill on my ice tea glass the entire night. $3.20 not a single refill. Seems very dated and little bit depressing, almost like a Western Sizzler before they went out of business. Plenty of nicer and newer places to eat in the Woodlands.
This was my first time, ALEX was amazing!!!! Thanks for making my friends birthday fun !!
Fun place for any occasion. I like that the food is prepared right in front of you. And even for those who are trying to watch what you’re eating, cooking food hibachi style is definitely lower in calories and fat. Another added plus !!
Ron was an excellent waiter and Christian was an excellent Chef, his name tag showed Freddy, not sure if his name was Freddy or Christian. We had a fabulous time at Benihana! Thank you!
I spent $100 on two people, the food was not worth it at all. My steak and shrimp was over cooked. The service was terrible, on top of no “show”.
WWWWAAAYYYYYY LESS traffic than Houston. Amazing food, chefs, and staff. Will definitely return and invite/bring friends.
Bad service, needs more people to work their. Need more food served too
There was an hour wait even though we had reservations. The rice cooker failed so we didn’t get our rice until the end of our meal which by then we didn’t even want to eat. This is a very expensive restaurant for things like this to be happening. Definitely not happy
The service wasn’t bad but the wait on the food was. We waited over 45 minutes on food and then we decided to leave.
Food had no flavor at all... when I asked the chef to use more salt he didn’t . I had to add it myself to my plate
For my first visit I was not impressed. They were short staffed & the service was poor. The chef was not enthusiastic. I was really expecting a lot more than what it was. Very disappointed for picking this restaurant to celebrate my birthday.
Had to wait 10 minutes even though I made reservation, another 50 minutes for chef ready... that's totally no fun.
Not as nice as I would expect
Carpet is disgusting.
Food was overcooked.
Chef was nervous.
Rice took forever to come out of kitchen and we had to ask for it.
The manager, white, bald, heavyset male, did not welcome us in or seem pleasant at all. I had made a reservation for my birthday and we were not seated for thirty minutes even though the whole party was there. When we arrived he did not even look up and just stared at his computer screen as if trying to solve world hunger. We really considered dining elsewhere, but Benihana is my birthday tradition so we stuck it out. It was a Monday night and it was not that crowded, I would hate to see how frazzled he gets on a weekend. The dining experience was wonderful, our waiter and chef were really lovely and got everything right. We were worried since we had three vegans in our party. It bothered me at the end when nothing was said about our ice cream (6 course meal) and it was not offered and it felt too awkward to ask. Additionally, my birthday was not celebrated. No one sang and I had made sure to put this in the reservation. Lastly, I signed up for the promotional emails last week in order to receive the $30 off coupon for my birthday and did not receive the email until today with the offer, which is disappointing.
Overall good experience, and I will second guess coming back to this location.
This is the first-time I had ever been to a Benihanas.
Entered the establishment and was ignored by the host for a minute or two while there were no other customers around. Our group was finally acknowledged when the manager came by and helped us with our reservation.
From there forward the experience got better. We had a great time and enjoyed the food very much. We appreciate the hard work chef Alex did for the night and hope to return soon in search of a perfect experience.
Overall it was great food but a bit on the pricey side. Your paying more for the experience than the food itself.
The cook was new so he didn’t do many tricks as he was not comfortable and the food was just okay.
Me encanto la comida todo muy rico
This Is One Of My Favorite Restaurants❤️❤️🥰. I Would Recommend Any friends and Family
My daughters birthday, wonderful experience for the whole family
As a customer my experience at Woodlands was OUTSTANDING (5 stars).
I hosted a MARCH birthday lunch for my son and his two daughters(Party of 8)
Everything was great. I have nothing but praise for the staff at Benihana Woodlands.
I only rated my experience as ONE STAR in order to ALERT Benihana Management
to the MULTIPLE problems that your customers and staff are having with the new tablet used
to record menu selections and to calculate customer bills. I am concerned that this problem
(if not recognized and corrected soon) might impact Benihana financially. I am concerned
that in the future Benihana may not be there for me to use. Please call me at (281) 579-1766
so that I can describe fully all of the issues I encountered with the new tablet.
Initally, the tablet showed all of my party's luncheon selections PLUS 3 Dinner Entree selections that had NOT been ordered by my party on my bill. It took about 10 minutes to get those three items corrected. The revised bill from the tablet then showed I owed nothing after crediting the 8 Benihana Special $10 gifts card(received in Dec 2018) I presented.
My party's before tax and gratuity charges were about $150; so I was expecting to pay an additional $70. However the tablet was showed a charge to a VISA card (not mine, in fact I did not use any credit card) .
I spoke to the assistant manager about this matter, especially that I had not presented any credit card.
No updated bill was presented to me. Before leaving I directly paid the waiter her gratuity in cash (with the awareness of the management) because of my concern that she not suffer monetary when (if) this problem with my bill is addressed by Benihana.
Please do not view that I am complaining about the time I spent on this matter. My only concern is making sure that Benihana management is aware of the problems arising from the rollout of the new ordering/billing tablet. Everyone in my family loves Benihana.
I enjoyed the food, entertainment and overall experience.
Great experience! Jasmine was a wonderful chef!
My wife and I Celebrate every month on the 27th our anniversary. We chose Benihana this month. And what a pleasant surprise since we have not been to one in a couple of years. This location in Woodlands is very convenient and the service is amazing!
Kudos to all the team , specially our cook Roy!
We will be back very soon!
We waited longer than expected for our chef to come to our table. The food was somewhat overcooked and I don't think the chef cleaned the grill between adding different food to it. ( ie. veggies, meat, rice). The onions tasted charcoal because of the grill. Aside from this, the chef had tricks that we hadn't seen before. He also apologized for the wait and had a great personality!
