Great food. Amazing staff. Such a great dinner. We had the chateaubriand and it was cooked superbly well. They also carry suntory whiskey which was a pleasant option.

I’ve been to other teppanyaki restaurants, and though our chef was a nice guy and cracked some jokes, the show wasn’t as elaborate and exciting as I’ve seen before. The meat was great quality, and the chef great at preparing the food. For the money we paid, $335 with tax and tip for 4 people, only three having had one beer, it’s wasnt worth the money we paid.

The food, service and ambience was incredible, a perfect business dinner. One member of our party has many food sensitivities and is vegan, they were so attentive and knowledgeable. He had an amazing dinner and many choices. Kudos to all the team for making it an amazing corporate event.

Been to this restaurant in the past. Used to be much cozier, not so loud and better all round. Now I found it loud, not much room since Reno’s, and service is not the same. Food was good but we were disappointed. Very expensive for what you get. I used to not mind overpaying when we were happy all round

FAR TOO EXPENSIVE. 6 Oz white wine at $18. Standard meal at $83, plus you had to pay an extra $6 for fried rice... Really??

There was a alcohol fuelled group of businessmen sharing the same area which made dining a little distracting.

Also, this restaurant does not serve wild salmon. I requested no farmed salmon and they do not have an alternative.

We came here for my wife’s birthday and were treated very well. We have three kids who are a handful but the staff was very accommodating. Our waitress (I did not get her name) was very pleasant and Toto our chef was amazing. When our appetizer rolls did not come out, our waitress made every effort to correct the mistake which we were very appreciative of. The free dessert for my wife’s birthday was also very nice. Thank you to all the staff again for the awesome food and great service. We will definitely be back.

We had tickets for a show. The staff went out of their way to ensure that not only were we able to leave on time, but that we could enjoy our meal in leisure.

This is a pricey restaurant but the food was well prepared, tasty and abundant. It’s great fun to watch the chef-flamboyant techniques. The special fried rice is not all that special and can be declined. Nothing missed there The shrimp and scallop dish was great as was the steak. We joined one other person at the hibachi table and she became a convivial dining acquaintance. I suppose if you’re not into communal dining, this might not be your place to eat. On quiet nights, you might not have to share your space. My wife and I totally enjoyed the experience.

My family and I have been going to Benihana for over 30 years. Many years ago my parents would go once a week. Now we go as often as possible and we are usually 3 generations. There is something for everyone. Most of our celebrations are held there. Sam, the chef , is an institution. He has known our family for years. All the chefs are great.

This was our most dissapointing trip to a Benihana restaurant. One guest at the table allegedly had a mushroom allergy, therefore nobody was offered mushroom until the final dish was served to that diner. No alternative table was even considered, diners were not notified before cooking commenced. And the food was not anywhere near the normal high standard expected of a Benihana. Extremely dissapointing.

Decor poor, ambience poor, it's easy to see why it is having a renovation, let's hope the renovate the chef too!

This was a thoroughly entertaining evening out. I would recommend it for a special occasion. The average cost per person (not counting beverages) is a minimum of $50.00, so it is a bit pricey. It was a special evening out, not a place where I would regularly dine.

we really loved the food and the chef was very good for our table of four although I don't think he put on the complete show we saw the other chef do at next table.
I had mentioned in reservation it was for a birthday and no mention was made of it during our visit.
but we enjoyed it and we would come back

Overall, I would say Benihana was a fun experience and good value for money.

We arrived at 7pm, half an hour before our scheduled reservation. They were not able to seat us at that time (understandably) so we returned shortly after 7:30 p.m. We waited at our table until about 8pm - it seems they were hoping other diners would turn up. No one did, so we had the table to ourselves!

The waitress provides diners with a menu where you can choose an entree. I had the teriyaki chicken and my companion had the Hibachi steak. The entrees come with soup, salad, sticky rice, and green tea. Both meals were excellent - very tender, not fatty, and delicious. The chef had a good sense of humour and we enjoyed the show with dinner. We also ordered edamame, which was good, but not really necessary as there was SO much food! There were also options to upgrade, for example, from sticky rice to fried rice, which we did not do, but another table did and the chef had a great time making a show out of the preparation of the rice.

Although the price is higher than what one would probably spend on a dinner out, the value for money was excellent, and I would return again. Benihana also provided us with a complimentary dessert (a piece of cheesecake) in celebration of our anniversary, which we appreciated. We left full and happy, and found it to be a great choice for a night out.

The restaurant has a great ambiance and the hostess was amazing, I felt like the food was not as satisfying as we would have hoped for we got a 4 course meal but didn't enjoy anything the best part of the meal is the maderin cheese cake. And the chef was great but the food was not...one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had.

I tried the summerlious menu. It Includes a appertizer, a main and a desert. The overall amosphere is nice. Chef is very friendly. However, the appertizer is such a disaster. It looks cheap and taste worse than the sushi from supermarket. loblow can make better sushi than them. Main is good but not amazing. Normally, pricy should not be a reason for a 3 stars. However, charging a premium price for a normal quality steak is the reason why i gave a 3 stars. Desert is decent comparing to the main and apperupzer. But, i mean it is difficult to screw up the desert.

A benehana is best kept to a less formal atmosphere. My experiences tell me unless you like seclusion at an open table where meals are served in a group atmosphere then elsewhere is the place to be. Fine dining is a more appropriate option for the Royal York. Given these circumstances the food was on par, the service adaquate (taking in to account the nature of the business) and the experience was overall delightful. With that in mind I personally feel that hotel guests would appreciate the experience more so than a couples date night.

Although our dining experience was good, I would not return as it was too expensive. For a family of four, with tip and parking, it was over $300.00. Nice place to visit once, but not multiple times, the food was not that special.
