Benihana - Sugar Land Ratings and Reviews
We came in at 5pm Saturday and we where told without a reservation we could not be seated until 930, which was fine we understood. We made a reservation for the next day at 12 pm. We were sat promptly drinks brought and orders taken by 1215! Then we sat and sat. They came over and started our lunch around 1pm. The amount of butter used was ridiculous! Our cook barely spoke to us and didn’t do any of the cheesy tricks my kids where looking forward to. We will look elsewhere for hibachi in the future.
We got sick. There was cross contamination going on with raw chicken. Never again. We did not get served our green tea, and was charged extra for rice that was supposed to come as a five course meal. Very unhappy with our chef who did minimal tricks and when I say minimal I mean it. Maybe one or two. We had long waits for our drink refills.
My husband and I have been to this location for over 10 years. We know most of the waiters/waitresses, chefs and manager. We had some unusual experiences there by the cooking chef. We near saw him there before. We are Asian decent and we were seated at table first. There were white couple came with their two boys who sat across from us. The chef came and cooked the chicken fried rice first. He filled the bowls x4 over the tops with small hill over each bowls and gave to the family of 4. The rest of the fried rice only could fill 3/4 bowl x2 with very little of chicken in the rice and gave them to us. Remembered, we are not paying children’s meal. I was very happy told the chef. He went to the kitchen area took about less the 1/4 bowel of rice and fried lightly gave it to us. The rest of the meals he was very careful to divide the food. Our server was very friendly and courteous. My husband told me not to say anything to the manager.
Apparently this chef is new and does not get enough training of how to divid food amount the full paying customers on the table. Of course, we can not choose the chef who cooks on our table. Since we still are going to this location, I have decided to write the review and hope they will improve their chiefs training.
We had an absolutely lovely dining experience. My husband and I both celebrated birthdays in November, so that occasion was what got us in the door, along with the fact that it was my husband's and children's first time at Benihana's! They even tried the Las Vegas sushi roll and was hooked. We will definitely be back!!
This visit was extremely disappointing. It was my sons birthday and he always orders extra fried rice which the chef confirmed but then forgot. Then the fried rice they brought from the kitchen tasted off. The chef then put my other sons chicken on my plate with my steak instead of his. Offered no apologies... just assumed my son would eat if off my plate because we were family.
The appetizers were incredibly slow. We were receiving our rice at the same time the sushi and edamame arrived at our table.
The food was good, but the service was not. The total time for the dinner was over 2 hours, with the last 30-45 minutes being devoted to trying to get our correct check, which was incorrect after we finally got it. Our kids ended up eating ice cream with their hands after they waited for 10 minutes for spoons and realized they weren't coming. Trying to make a 2 and 4 year old wait 2 hours leads to a very restless group of kids. This is usually our go-to birthday spot, but that will not be the case again.
Just went for a piece of mind and Carlos was AWESOME 👏🏽. He made sure our orders were correct and he did not make us feel like we were customers but more like his family members...WONDERFUL WONDERFUL personality!! Would definitely request him when I go again!!!!!
I love Benihanas but for some reason service has not been that good my last two visits. The service on this visit was worst. I had to ask the waiter for lemons 3 times, sirrachi sauce twice and tell the cook my correct order. Then the waiter took forever to bring my check. Her favorite word was sorry all night. Not a good visit.
All the food was delicious except the steak. The steak was cooked medium but the steak had a lot of fat and was not tender or juicy. I would not order the steak again. This was the second time in a row that the steak was not good and we ordered the Filet. Everything else was delicious and the service was great.
