We had made a reservation for my twins birthday. The wait was 45 minutes w a reservation which is unacceptable.
We waited 45 minutes to be seated, even though we had a reservation. Chef took way too long to come.
Nice place, good hibachi food, sushi was not that good . Long wait even with reservation , the place was packed very popular bday destination ...
High quality ingredients and a happy place to be. Our 9 year old son said "This is the most fun night!"
It seems dirty, rushed and inexperienced staff.
The drinks were not alcoholic enough. When i asked one of the waiters to take a picture of me he asked if i was drunk. Beyond rude and unprofessional. Literally begged for a benihanagroup photo. Chef performance was subpar. No sake. Waitress took forever to bring drinks. Was told if wanted stronger drinks have to pay for extra shots. Whats the point of having alcoholic drinks on menu if they taste like shakes. Dont have trainees working on busy nights who have no idea what they are doing. Wouldnt return nor recommend.
We had a reservation for 7:00 pm and they seated us at 8:00 and it seems to be the trend ther with over booking and it made a lot of angry people the whole place was mad because there were people waiting longer then we were
Server Ryan was great and really gave off good vibes. Chef was fun and entertaining. A little more arm and leg space was needed but still a great family experience.
Chef was on point. The server was absolutely dreadful. Non existent. No water no drink refill requests... horrible horrible horrible.
Food was fabulous. We had a 430 PM reservation... NO one there to serve
NO bartender,, waiter had to go and make all the drinks,,, took 20 min.
Waiting a long time for chef. Waited again for the table to be cleaned off and to order dessert.
Too much waiting,,, very slow !! Disappointing experience
Benihana’s never disappoints I always enjoy the food.
Excellent place to visit and would recommend to friends and family
Even if I made a reservation before I came, the waiting was still an hour long. Then after we were seated, we waited another hour to start the hibachi and to actually eat. The cook looked awkward while doing his job in front of us. The place was packed and crowded. We were seated too close, there’s no elbow room. The food was great. After we left our clothes and hair smelled like the food we ate. The parking space was packed and there were tree branches and limbs scattered.
Hair in my food, chef with no personality, kids running and falling all on the floor by our table.
Bathrooms were horribly dirty.
Bus boys continued to try and remove our food when we clearly weren't done with the birthday cake we had brought for our triplets b-day.
This is usually our go to for birthday celebrations. The restaurant was very busy, but our chef didn't come to our table until an hour and fifteen minutes after our reservation. I inquired with the manager why it was taking so long and he blamed our waitress (who was lovely but clearly new) and then never returned to our table to let us know what was going on. In addition, the ladies restroom had no toilet paper in any of the stalls, no soap in the two dispensers and no paper towels. Not sure why it was such an off night but we didn't have a great celebration this time.
Had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated then about another 40-45 mjnutes for the chef to come out to start cooking. Getting drinks was also painful and took 20 minutes. And the manager was awful and missing in action. The only redeeming factor was the chef and the food being delicious and the manager in training. They seemed to be very understaffed on a busy night. Won't be going back for a long while if ever.
This was one of the WORST restaurant experiences I have had in years. My husband, sister, son (7 months) and I arrived for our 7PM reservation on time. We weren't seated until 7:30PM. Then once we sat down, our chef didn't arrive at the table until 8:30PM...All we had been given was drinks, small soups and small salads. By that time, my son was FREAKING out. We were sitting with another family with small children and they were having the same issue. Then when the chef FINALLY came out he got everyones order wrong. He put shrimp on my plate and I don't eat shellfish. He put mushrooms on my husbands plate and he doesn't eat mushrooms. The manager was USELESS. He brought over shrimp tempura as a "fix" at 9PM but all we wanted was our food... and several of the people were allergic or didn't eat shellfish. In the end the manager did nothing. He gave us $20 off our bill. Not enough. WILL NEVER GO BACK.
Reliably excellent food, good to very good service, but a horrendously tight and difficult-to-maneuver parking lot, particularly in the snow.
The staff was very professional and the food was amazing. The service was a bit slow but worth the wait.
My son Birthday
Generally so fun. Service was way off tonight.
Waited forever! Restaurant was a mess!
Terrible experience. Had 6:00 reservation but didn’t get seated until 6:45. Once seated it was obvious there weren’t enough staff to cover the tables. Eventually got up and left without eating after no hibachi chef arrived. Have eaten here in the past and food was so-so. Will not be coming back
For the price we expected more attentiveness. And it was lunch.
Our tempura didn’t come with tempura sauce, even after following up.
Our sushi came after we were done with dinner.
Asked for a high chair...never came. Just ended up getting my own.
The server was polite- maybe she was spread thin.
Had a much better experience at the Edison location during dinner time too.
The chef was great.
It was very annoying that we made a reservation and then had to wait at least a half hour or maybe more to sit. My kids love it though, so we waited it out, but likely will not go again on a weekend night.
It was the worst experience ever. We had an 8:15 reservation to celebrate a Birthday. When we arrived the waiting area was packed solid. We were told we would have a 15 minute wait or less since we had a reservation. After waiting over 45 minutes (9:10) and being told we were to be seated as the next party we walked out of the restaurant. The hostess told us we were next then never came back to seat us. Very disappointing. Will not go back. Birthday dinner ruined.
Wait time was HORRIBLE considering I had a reservation and arrived 15 minutes early. My group waited an hour and employees and management seemed overwhelmed and unprepared for the number of patrons in their restaurant.
I went to Benihana on Saturday night. It was like I walked into a mosh pit for Green Day or a sea of humanity. I could not believe it.
We made reservations through Opentable for 6:30p. The restaurant did not seat us until 7:15p. That is 45 minutes past our reservation. I don't understand what a reservation is worth if the restaurant cannot manage it's yielding policy.
Also, this was a family meal. Our children were thankfully angels, but 45 minutes of a wait is absolutely ridiculous. The three hosts/hostesses were giving us BS timings about when our table was ready. They lied and did not follow up with the frustrated queue of customers.
I first came in at 6:30p and the lady said 10 minutes. Which is no problem. This dance went on for 45 minutes. UNACCEPTABLE!!!
The food was good as always, but the waitress did not offer the hot tea which was part of my course. I found that asking was a bit of a hassle. It is clearly in the menu, and it should have been offered with the meal.
Overall, Benihana is definitely slipping or has slipped. They need to do a mass retraining and they should not accept as many reservations if they cannot honor them.
To add insult, I talked with the manager about the wait. I received four free appetizer with your entree cards which cannot be combined. I feel the right service recovery would have been a discount on the meal.
Benihana you are losing customers who are willing to pay.
They are always running late. We had a 7:45 reservation and were seated at 8:20. Not sure if it’s their fault or just the way they make reservations. We routinely have to wait 30-45 min in spite of reservations. Food is always good!!
we actually never ate here. had a 745 reservation arrived at 740 was told it would be 15 min delay. at 8pm we still did not have a table. i was told at that time that it would be another 15-20 before we could have a table. i didn't see how that could be possible since there were several parties still ahead of us. other people i spoke with said they had been waiting over 30min for a table. staff was rude and inconsiderate. 2 girls at desk actually laughed as patrons were walking out. this was our first and last time we will ever go here.
The drinks from the bar were great, the sushi and sushi options were okay, the service was absolutely horrible. They had the bartender making drinks, taking orders, and serving food all by herself...during peak time, on a Saturday! You would think that they know to have more staff! She was running around doing it all by herself. Very disappointing. We were constantly pulling workers who were walking past us, for help. Funny thing is that they had 4 hostess people just standing around and no one thought to help out! 🤔 I'll leave that right there! We didn't dine in the hibachi area. This was just for the sushi area.
The food was just ok, and the cook was not very friendly. The waitress was great though and was able to easily accommodate our large group!
Service was very slow and the soup was cold and had no taste. There wasn’t a waitress or waiter in sight to complain about the soup.
Our waitress, Maya had a very positive disposition however, was easily distracted and ultimately provided poor service. On a positive note our cook, Alex was excellent. All of our meals were superb!
It was a very busy day at the restaurant and it was not staffed properly. It took a while for the waitress to come to our table initially. When our drink orders were finally taken it took a while so our hot tea was cold by the time it got to us. We ordered a sushi appetizer which never came and the reason provided was sushi takes a long time to prepare ( even though it didnt take long for tables that came after us to get theirs).
The soup tasted off (kind of like water with no seasoning) I've had the soup at other locations and it tasted very different. I rarely saw the waitress and ended up asking who I believed was the manager for things as he was passing by.
Not the best birthday outing.
My first time at this location and I loved it. Cozy, and the history of this location was special. The staff made us feel right at home
And the chef was amusing and friendly. I will return here again even though the Menlo Lovation is fifteen minutes from my house.
Good food but the service was poor. Did not clear plates, had to remind her to bring 2 ordered items, overcharged others at the table, did not know menu, and forgot it was my birthday.
Good food and always prepared well. Especially the meat quality
