Benihana - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
We have enjoyed celebrating special family events at this location for the past 12 years. We have alway loved Benihana. Last night will be our last time. The service was lacking, the steak was full of fat, the chicken was over cooked and the chef talked so much we could not talk to each other. We will not be spending our money here any longer. Very Disappointed.
We RSVP for 4pm, got there nobody was around. Had to stop one of the guys that was working there going to the restroom. He went to back to get someone and 10 mins later the host came out she did not greet us or acknowledge us at all. (Very rude) Then another guest came in they went straight to the host (she was on the comp) asked for seats. Then more guests came in she took care of them (they all waited to be seated) then the host came up to us, apologized and seated everybody. I was already annoyed. For a high end teppanyaki restaurant food was ok kind of bland and service was alright. I had better service and food was better at other places.
So we checked in at 745 didn't get served till 830 and ate at 10pm the service was horrible our server forgot our drinks twice then didn't refill our drink for an hour as well as the chef told cheesy jokes the whole time and then by the time we got our chicken our steak was cold the mushrooms were burnt and I only got 2 small pieces of shrimp this was on Valentine's day with my husband by the time our meal was over it was 1045pm and still hungry and upset would not return
We were running behind and was about 30 mins late to our reservation. It was a rainy night and coming from Avondale, so I called to notify we were running late. They assured me that everything is ok dint worry drive safe. Upon arrival, they took us right in. It was stress free experience for being Valentine's day. Great food and drinks.
It was my first time here, my wife and kids decided to visit this location and was nothing we were expecting. The waiter did not take the time to explain the way things were supposed to be.. he seemed to be in a hurry to get us in and out.. he was quick to recommend the most expensive item on the menu, he asked if anyone would like to order any appetizer, and before I can say yes, he was gone.. also the meal i order was the deluxe filet mignon with lobster, and another lobster ala cart, which cost me $20.00 extra. And only got half of my filet mignon and half of my lobster tail. I did not want to make a big deal to avoid humiliating myself...... the only thing I could do is take a few pictures of what we were given as a meal at Benihanas... my daughter got four little chuncks of lobster for 20 dollars and i got the same. I was very disappointed....... im assuming this happend because i made a compplain to the manager lady at that time about the waiters actions,...... very unacceptable....... every table I saw had the same dish i order, except they got a full filet mignon and their loster was still in the shell.... unlike our lobster it was brought already chopped in little chuncks ..... why.... I don't know.... I will be putting this pictures i took at benihanas on social media so people could see what happens when a costumer makes a complaint...... at benihanas.....
Hadn't been to a Benihana's in quite a few years - this one was very clean and efficiently run. Both our chef and server were friendly, capable and accommodating. There were five of us - the size of the table was perfect for that - just one other couple joined our table at the opposite end. We had a great time and the food was prepared perfectly.
I reserved my table almost two weeks in advance for my 27th birthday. We reserved it for Friday, the 9th of February at 7:30 p.m. A majority of my party arrives with me, early, so we decide to wait at the bar. The two blondes who sit those waiting were rude. Not only was I polite when letting them know we were waiting for ONE person to get there from Tempe, but I even checked in with them at my reservation time to let them know we were ready to be seated. The skinnier blonde gave me attitude and snapped at me while telling me i had to wait on the last person to show up in order to be seated. The two kept seating other parties which set us back an HOUR just to be seated and it took us a total of THREE hours just to eat. The working manager handled the situation poorly. He didn't care to resolve anything and refused to give his name when my father asked what it was. My father was able to email the district manager but has yet to receive a response for a resolution. My entire party and myself will never recommend this location to anyone. Worst experience I've had in years from such a place with a golden stigma. My next complaint will be written with the Better Business Bureau because the treatment was that unacceptable.
We had a reservation for 7:30pm on a Wednesday. We weren't seated until after 8 and then we had to wait quite a long time for food service. The server seemed frazzled and brought our appetizers out cold. She was good enough to remove them from our check but we were disappointed with them still. Thwchef was very friendly and engaging. We were celebrating an anniversary and a birthday at the table and he did a special thing for both of us. He respected my food allergies (shellfish) in stride and made amazing food. Over all our experience wasn't bad but we spent much longer than we should have there.
We have dined at Benihana Scottsdale on several occasions, and this time was super disappointing. It was my son's 12th birthday, and everything was just off. Our Chef, Lin seemed out of sync. The show during cooking was lackluster. He made several mistakes on our order. One of our guests ordered brown rice, and never received it. Our fried rice was short 2 dishes, so he made more, but that held up the rest of the Neal from being cooked. The chicken fried rice is usually so yummy, it was burned. One of the children received a chipped soup spoon with his soup, and he cut his lip. We figured there would be some comp either on our check or something for a future visit. Our son is signed up for the Chefs Table club, and has yet to receive his birthday gift certificate. His birthday was Feb 2nd, the day we visited. After paying a check, tip included over $200.00 for 3 kids and 3 adults, no drinks (all drank water), we felt it was not a good value. Next time, we will try Sapporo, which is less than 5 mins away. Oh, and the Maitre'd made sure to check at the end of the meal that our child guest who cut his mouth on the chipped soup spoon, made sure she wrote up her report to be sure we would hold them harmless for the incident. We went somewhere else for dessert because we had enough disappointment for our celebration.
We were greeted with who I presume was the restaurant manager. When I gave my name and time of my reservation, she was rude.... didn’t bother to even look up at me nor speak in a welcoming manner. She simply pointed to the bench aside her and told me it would be a few minutes before we could be seated. After 15 minutes, and a front row seat of her berating her hostess for most of that time, I approached her to ask again how much longer it would be. She jokingly said she was having staff problems and she was sorry but it would be a few more minutes.
Had it not been my companions wish to have a teppanyaki experience I would have left... but we were finally seated at a station and the dinner proceeded as expected from there.
The management or owners (whatever) are incredibly rude and lack proper business decorum.... I will NEVER set foot in this establishment again.
We eat at Benihana about once a month. It has been hit and miss at this location lately but today we had both great food and great service. They should work on consistency on how they train the chefs to cook/prepare the food at this location. They all seem to cook the food there own way both with seasonings, butter and cook time. Again I will say our chef today was perfect!
We made a reservation for a birthday. Upon arrival there was a delay in getting seated. Front desk seemed unorganized and when we asked for a table rather than being seated in the teppanyaki room we were told the sushi chef wouldn't be ready for an hour, then someone else told us that wasn't accurate so we were finally seated. After being seated someone else approached us and wasn't aware we asked for a table and said we had a table reserved in the other room, there was no communication between employees at the front desk. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient. This was my first visit and I didn't find the food as impressive as their reputation. I ordered the sushi/sashimi platter and it was just ok. I won't spend the money to go back and wasn't impressed with this location.
Our reservation was at 7:30 but wasn’t seated still a little past 8. The lady in front said they needed our entire party of 8 to be there to seat us (6 of us were there in lobby waiting) we weren’t offered a drink or anything but once we were seated our server RYAN took great care of us. He explained absolutely everything to us. It was our first time there so it was a great experience for us! We loved ourvserver and cook. They definitely made it up to us after the first bump we experienced at the biggening. Definitely recommend this place and server Ryan!
It was our first time to this location, it was a Friday and we had made reservations for 5pm. Was hoping for an enjoyable, adult sort of an evening, but turns out, friday evenings at 5pm are when they setup birthday parties for the young kids. I would have thought, or hoped that if a middle age couple arrived for their reservation, that tje business would consider the fact that we did not wish to be sat at a 13 year olds birthday party. We were the only 2 at the table who were not part of the party, and when we made reservations did not intend on such an arrangement. In addition, the room we were seated in, was nothing but preteen and young teen birthdays.... as we watched as they sat other solo couples in another walled of part of the restaurant.
As for the good itself, it was ok... the salad dressing appeared to be watered down, and some of the main course of steak/lobster, even though cooked very well, was partially over salted.
For such a popular place, i dont see myself returning, as i know of, and frequent other similar style restaurants that consider who is being seated where as to make sure the meal and experience are enjoyable.
Entertaining, delicious and special!! My husband have one son of our own and we are in the process of adopting two boys. Our son LOVES Benihana’s and the two boys have hardly experienced eating at restaurants. We were celebrating two birthdays, our oldest son, turning 10 and the youngest son that we are adopting, who is turning 6. For our 10 year old, celebrating his birthday at Benihana’s is something he always looks forward to. For our 6 year old, this was an AMAZING celebration, that he has never experienced before. The chefs are great with adults and children. Thank you Benihana for a great evening!
We went here with our one year old daughter as soon as they opened, it was a good time to go because they were pretty slow and we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes for our waiter to come. The chef was a little quiet and not all that entertaining but the food was good enough. Onion soup was delicious, fried rice was nothing special, I had the tofu and Yakisoba which were okay. The sauces were delicious! We saw other chefs at nearby tables who were much more animated so were a little disappointed by ours, especially since our kid would have loved to see more! Overall was a good experience and we will go back again with kids, hoping for a better chef!
We usually dine here for a special event such as birthdays or anniversary. We arrived at our res time at 7:30. We were not sat until 8:07pm. A waitress welcomed us and took our drink order. Someone at our table wanted to taste 2 beers. So she stopped mid order and went and got his tasting of beer. She went back and forth between the bar and our table 3 times. Then she took drink orders for only that family and walked away. She came back with their drinks and the gentleman sitting next to us asked sarcastically if we all get to have drinks too? She laughed and apologizes. Its now almost 8:40. Then a young male comes over and brings us our drinks. He tells us he will be our server. He orders our food. I had asked him for an extra rice for my 2 year old to be brought out with the soup and salads. He takes our order and leaves. Usually the waiter is suppose to bring your soup and salad out to you before your chef gets to the table. Our table got the soup right away. The chef comes out a few minutes later. Its now almost 9, our chef comes out. The chef is reviewing our order and half our meals and sides are missing so the cook has to go back to the kitchen to get that stuff. The chef is half way done making our food and still no salads or rice. Our server has not been seen since he took our order. Our whole table is needing refills as well. I finally stop a manger at 9:40 who happened to be walking by and asked if we get our salads still? He was surprised we haven't eaten them yet. Our server brings the salads out after 10 mins. We finally got the rice 2. No food complains. We Ended up tipping our chef $10 as well did the other families at our table. We finally all had our food by 10:05. Our server took forever to bring our bills. We had a birthday certificate that he forgot to apply, The other families had already paid and left. We waited another ten minutes for the server to apply the birthday coupon to our bill. My family of 3 and i left at 10:50. Imagine how i felt.
Our service was amazing and the food was even better. Our food was absolutely amazing! The only downside was being on a date night and being seated with 7 other people who were all one family. They added an extra seat so there were 9 total at the table (including us) so it was a little squished.
Been to many hibachi grills and other Benihana’s before. Food was good but disappointed in the chef overall presentation. We came here to celebrate my daughters 11th birthday with her buddies and the chef barely put on a show... very disappointed! No shrimp thrown in your mouth, egg in the hat, bouncing egg on spatula etc. you think for kids he would do the old stand bys but no.
Service was very slow. We were asked only once about refills and empty dishes were not cleared away. I don't blame the waitress; she was trying to cover several tables. It took a while for the chef to come and when he finally did, he was in a rush. After he left, it took another long while for our check to come. Our experience was 1 hour and 50 minutes. Too long.
