Server was rude from the beginning to the end, very impatient. After dining in, we asked if we could get an order of chicken fried rice to go. She told us to go to the front or upstairs to order. The manager ended up getting the rice for us and apologized.

It was a great experience. I took my girlfriend since she she had not been before. The atmosphere and food was amazing as well as the cooks performance.

We were warned it was slow and inefficient. That is true. They need major changes in how they provide service. Wait-staff was friendly, but the wait for everything was incredibly slow. Very disappointed and hardly ever complain, but this was a bad experience.

I loved it! I’ve been going to Torrance since 2008 and recently there service had been horrible so I wanted to try another location before I gave up...but Santa Monica was awesome my chef was amazing! Waiter was Amazing! I’m definitely coming back!

Had a reservation and they were not going to seat us for at least an hour and a half after our reservation time. They should have a table or two dedicated to walk-ins and use that to even out slow downs through the night. We did not stay.

Honestly my kids and wife love Benihana and I myself don’t mind it. Only thing is that this time around there was a lot of things that went wrong. It took longer then usual to have us sitted. The server wouldn’t come around as much as I would have loved her too. I had to kept looking for her and ask her to come just for another beer, my son as well found himself need a refill on lemonade and once again had to as a server from another table to ask her for drinks. The chef was nice and all but we never received our sauce for veggies or steak.

As always, Benihana's delivered a wonderful dining experience. I'm in the birthday club so I go every year. It's the ideal way to celebrate.

Excellent evening. Had chef Sergio this time. All Benihana chefs demonstrate fantastic dexterity but Sergio is the most amazing so far. What he does with juggling a raw egg is unbelievable. Well-paced meal prepared before you eyes.

The service was awful, we waited at our table over an hour for our chef to arrive after placing our order, the chef seemed new, and did not succeed and at many of the tricks that are standard for a Benihana cooking performance, the waitress did not come back to ask if we wanted a refill on our drinks, only did she come after what I assume was the manager walked by and told us that our chef would be there soon (this was 45 mins into our wait) while we waited for the chef to arrive, I asked if we could have refills and order more drinks. Also, not sure who is to blame but we were not given our proper orders, my boyfriends daughter got my order, she got her Dads, and her Dad got hers this would not have been a bid deal on its own, but after the long wait it just added to the awful service and experience. We were also not offered a photo of our group. Plus were were not offered a photo.

Food is always good here, although they tend to overcook the scallops. We waited 20 minutes beyond our reservation time to be seated. A couple next to us had waited 30 minutes. It is excessive.

Literally the worst Benihana experience I’ve ever had. After being made to wait 45 minutes (we had a reservation), we sat down with our hungry, cranky toddler and were told no one else would be joining our table (there were 5 of us) we ordered quickly to try to beat our child’s full 3 year old meltdown and then were informed 3 men would be joining us. We complained- saying we had been told we would be dining alone, we had already been made to wait, had already ordered and we needed to eat quickly and leave. The waiter was a jerk and then the manager came over and told us WE were being unreasonable. We informed him we had already ordered and if he was going to insist on delaying us, we would be leaving. After confirming our order was placed, he lectured us about their seating policy and said “next time, you will have to dine communally”. When I challenged him he continued to lecture and yelled that if I didn’t like it, I could leave. Now here we are 7pm with a hungry, cranky child after waiting almost an hour. Seriously, never again. They should be shut down. This experience gives the whole franchise a bad name.

Terrible value -- average quality meat and fish (the latter overcooked) at premium prices. Presentation was weak -- the guy must have been new -- so my daughter was disappointed and bored. Lame and a ripoff.

We had to wait a significant amount of time before we were seated and waited again for the chef to arrive. The food quality was terrible and served in tiny amounts. As a value proposition this place is terrible. I will never go back and can't recommend it at all.

Food was great as usual but this particular night the restaurant was running behind on all dinner reservations which was an hour delay then another 20 min delay once we finally was seated. Hopefully this was just a one time occurrence.

We waited an 1 1/2 hours to sit down we did have three reservation for 24 people but only two tables was a must to sit together. We were celebrating two birthdays. 7 people decided to leave so one of the reservations the restaurant cancelled directly. We ended up with 17 people and we did get to sit together. Although the food was good love our chef. The Benihana Torrance is a much better location.
