Benihana - Santa Anita
Great food, wonderful service but most of all a great time with family
I went to Benihana on a Friday night around 7pm for my birthday and had a great experience! Our chef for the night was Andrew and he was exceptional, quirky, and funny. Overall a wonderful time. No complaints!
Our chef Jeremy was awesome :)
Server was also very good
Had a reservation for 7 30 and didn't get a table until 8. They were obviously overbooked and didn't have enough cooks. Waitress really dragged out the drinks/soups and salads to make up for no chef. Ended up being a 2 hour dinner.
The food was delicious, the service was good.
When it came to paying, there were issues.
Our original bill was $348, and we split it with $290 cash and the remaining on a card. With additional tip equaling 22%.
Our waiter came back and gave us a new bill with a pre tax amount that was $7 higher than the last bill, and informed us we still owed $1.70.
Of course, we were puzzled— not because the $7 was an outrageous amount, but because we were not sure how the pre-tax amount increased, when each line item was identical.
A manger was involved and informed us that they taxed the gratuity that we paid, which was very illegal, but proceeded to tell us we were wrong.
Had to wait 45 mins even with a reservation on Mothers Day. Food and service were decent. Chef kinda phoned it in a bit. Sushi rolls my wife ordered were tiny and flavorless. Overall not bad, not really good. Not worth it.
Overall experience was good with the exception of the hostess experience.
They need to be mindful of people with disabilities. Our party had someone with crutches and broken foot so we had to wait outside but there rule. Explained after, that everyone should be in the building. Think not on a busy Mother’s Day! Keeped telling them we are all here.
Hostess laughed when she saw the crutches and soft cast. Manager backed her up as “their rule”!
It was great the cook we had was amazing 👌🏽
The Cook was so so. Extremely nice guy but food was mediocre at best.
The experience really depends on your chef. It's always good to request a chef you like, or you might end up with the least entertaining chef at the restaurant. This time, I forgot to ask, and ended up with another bland experience.
Had a great time for Mother’s Day! Seated fairly quickly even though we were late. The chef was great and very entertaining. Food was tasty, definitely recommend!
The service was great we were seated early we were there to celebrate my birthday
It was a great meal! Always love coming here!
Food was de-lish, service was excellent and my daughter had a great B Day dinner.
i believe our cook was Andrew, he was hispanic and soo much fun !! Thank you for the best Benihanna experience i have ever had.
The experience was a lot of fun and the food was tasty. The drinks were a bit watery - a bit disappointing. My only comment is that the restaurant could direct a bit more effort to keeping up the cleanliness - dirty floors, sticky chairs.
Malek our server was very attentive we never had to wave him down or ask for anything he was always asking how we were doing if we needed anything and if we were ready for drink refills
We go to this location all the time and this was by far one of the best. Super fast service and great chef
My family and my self been going to Benihana specially the Santa Anita location.
However it’s not the first time a get the same server she’s very fast she doesn’t care to make you feel welcome she’s pretty much rushing you .Throughout the whole time you’re there. Like a said it’s not the first time a get her The first time I gave her the benefit of the doubt I thought maybe they’re just very busy. But no !!!!
She’s rude she’s rushing you every time you asked for something she looks bother I asked for forks She didn’t care to bring him in the nice little platter like I usually get them at other locations
She brought a bunch of forks and just give them to one of my family member for her to pass them on to everyone else. The moment we were ready for the check she brought it she was rushing us the whole time she asked a couple of times is a ready is it ready my husband kept on telling her no because her kids were eating their ice cream so was she didn’t ask she stand in back of our table just staring at my husband she didn’t move until she saw him putting the money in and so she came back immediately to grab it We were celebrating my sister-in-law’s birthday and it was a horrible experience and it was my sister-in-law’s first time being there she just made everything so bad and like I said it’s not the first time I’m sure there’s a lot of other customers that probably feel the same way I do I believe her name is Jonas we were celebrating my sister-in-law‘s birthday and it was a horrible experience and it was my sister-in-law‘s first time being there she just made everything so bad and like I said it’s not the first time I’m sure there’s a lot of other customers that probably feel the same way I do I believe her name is JUNIS If I’m not mistaken I wouldn’t know how to spell or pronounce her name correctly apologize for that. And the worst part that this restaurant it’s not a cheap place so you expect so much more
The food was really delicious. The service was great, felt well attended. The positive energy in the place was great, and overall the food quality was delightful!
Fun time! The service and food was great. Chef did a great job entertaining as well.
I went with my girlfriend and we loved the food
Not only having a horrible experience when I dined with Benihana on 4/30, but speaking to management was worse. I was patient, gave ALBERTO (SUPERVISOR) and MAY (MANAGER) enough time to get back to me, there was no followup.
Dined on 4/30 (experience doesn’t even matter anymore. I now know this steams with MANAGEMENT)
5/3 - contacted Benihana, spoke to ALBERTO (SUPERVISOR). Said he will figure out what happened and get back to me. Called me back, asked for additional information, but will need to speak to the manager later that night and will let me know the resolution after. (No Call)
5/7 - contacted Benihana, spoke to MAY (MANAGER). She was rude and condescending. Since I didn’t have the receipt on me, she can’t do anything (Alberto didn’t leave any notes). I drove back home to look for my receipt. Called May and gave her the information. May said Alberto isn’t in and will need to speak to him, because she doesn’t know if Alberto spoke to me or not (are you kidding me?? What's the point of me getting the receipt?). Since Alberto never called me back to resolve this issue, I asked May when she might be able to contact me. She said “look, I’m speaking to you right now and I have to speak with Alberto, which he is not in. Did you speak to the manager when you dined with us? Why not? You had an issue and you didn't complain? (Wow..you should not be a manager, you should not work in hospitality.)
Gave you guys another week, but neither MAY NOR ALBERTO has called me back.
The chef Johnny was great
No I would not recommend this location to anyone I like.
There is something different about this Benihana compared to other ones. The atmosphere is different and the chefs are great. Loved coming to this location. Will only go to this one from now on!
My kids and I have been going about every other month to Benihana at the Santa Anita mall for the last couple of years but the service is NOT the same. We usually wait 20-30 mins even though we make reservations ahead of time and it seems like our last 3-4 visits, we are looking for our waiter because they don’t check on customers regularly. The food is still delicious but the service barely deserves 1 star. Not sure we’ll be going back for awhile.
We had a great time. Service was great. Chef was on target!! Great food!!!
Good experience and friendly staff!
They have bad service. Our chef pulled out his phone and started texting in the middle or cooking the chicken and steak! You go to watch your chef cook and tell jokes, not watch him text. I can do that at home
When you make a reservation for 6:30, you don't expect to be seated at 7:00. If there is a birthday for a child, they should not have to ask why no one had sung Happy Birthday to them. If you ask for white rice, it should come out the same time the other guests get their fried rice. The only positive was Chef Ryan. Unfortunately, that is not enough to bring myself and my family back.
Keeping in mind that we have never ever had a bad experience at Benihana at any location, chef Jay at the Benihana Santa Anita mall location was excellent! The food was absolutely out of this world. We hope to get him again as a chef the next time we go.
Enjoyable dinner, had a great time and the food was great too!
It was my birthday! Our server Dorothy and our cook Nicholas were amazing!! Best Benihana experience I've ever had!!!
Birthday dinner was excellent! Service was superb!
It was okay...I thought it was over priced for what you actually get. Out Teppan chef was an experienced one, so that was good. Had to ask the served to have the table next to us to be cleaned as rice & food covered the floor inches from my chair :(...Also, I found the bathroom to be dirty with an old mop smell. All un acceptable when you're dropping over a $100 on a birthday dinner (even after using $30 gift certificate!)..
Good place to celebrate anniversaries with love ones.
Perfect! Sam was our chef..He gave good vibes and the food was too good!!☺️
With the amount of money spent, the portion of the food is not balanced. As for the taste, it was between good to great. We liked the atmosphere of the dining. Servers and chef were great.
