Family members get-together (including toddler and a teenager). First time in Benihana. Everything from booking till receipt went smoothly. No waiting despite restaurant’s full occupancy. Delicious food, exceptional chef Billy’s vibe and performance left us in awe! Made us laugh many times))) The receipt turned out a bit less than I expected (was preparing myself for expensive restaurant according to many reviews). My family enjoyed the evening to the fullest. Definitely recommend!
My party had a great time celebrating Father’s Day weekend. The ambiance was great, our chef was awesome and the food was amazing! Even with the limited menu we were able to enjoy all of our favs and also try some new items.
Made my date feel super special
Very overpriced , food is blan for the price and service wasn’t great. The servers and cooks were nice, but messed a lot of things up.
it was really nice. cooks now cook at ur table and you may be seated with other people if your party is small! overall really good food i love the onion soup and fried rice so much.
Lots of fun, good service, very good food. An excellent dining experience.
The service was disorganized, and after the initial order you could never find anybody.
The check in was also disorganized, with the 2 different host people telling us totally different information.
There is no communication from the staff that you'll be getting a chef 2 hours after your reservation time.
The food was great! The service was great. Getting the menu to load on your phone was a bit difficult but I used the menu pictures on Yelp to order.
The food quality is fair as the price marked. The Teppanyaki Chef is very professional.
The customer service at check in counter was the worst. We arrived 15 min before our reservation. The lady who handling the reservataion area, not friendly at all. No smile, even the dining area are pretty empty, she didn't tell you why you still have to wait to be served. We got our seat 15 mins past the reservation time. The dining area is freezing. Although we got seated, but its take more than 30 mins we got our hot soup served.
It was great! Very busy which we expected. Long gaps in between which we saw our server. Everything was great however the thing I don’t appreciate was that she told us we can have another drink and milkshake, disappeared 10 minutes, we reminded her, she came back 15 minutes later saying it was too late and we never asked her. She also didn’t know what rare+ was which surprised me a little, no biggie, just something to enlighten servers on in the future. Other than that she was accommodating. I had a great time! Thank you Benihana’s for an awesome birthday!
The food , ambiance was very good. The drinks were a little watered down and we had problem with the menu since they don’t have a written down menu and only I phones can capture the QR. The person that took the order was not very clear. The chef was very entertaining.
Waited over one hour and half to cook the food and still never came.
We celebrate birthdays every year at Benihana. The birthday perk is a plus. The entire family enjoys the atmosphere here.
Awesome and good. Always a great show and good ambience.
We never got the tea, and we had to beg for our alcoholic drinks. Everyone got fried rice while I got my white rice at the very end of the meal. Had to wait and watch everyone eat it. The meal was about 140$, when we both got meals which were 30$ each and 3 drinks. Not sure how that adds up.
Our Chef Cesar and the food were the highlight of our experience. He put on a good show and the food was decent. Everything else, and I mean everything else, was absolutely subpar.
We weren’t greeted when we arrived, we were confronted by a hostess who admonished us that we we wouldn’t be seated without a reservation. One thing to keep in mind, it’s kind of like a cruise ship, they seat you with strangers around a hibachi grill, so don’t go there expecting a private dining experience with your family. By the way, this led to other problems because our server put one of our entrees on the bill of a couple who was seated with us.
The service was terrible. Our server lacked knowledge of the menu, was inattentive, incompetent, and slow. It took 2hrs and 40 mins for dinner and that was without desert, only one drink, and we had to ask for the check…from a different server who happened to be passing by.
Don’t waste your time or money, there are dozens of other good restaurants in Japantown.
We have been dining at this location for at least 25 years. We ordered takeout through Covid and dined in when the chef's were cooking at another table. Last night was the first time we dined in and had a chef at the table since the pandemic began.
It was not a good experience.
Our server was on top of it with drinks and taking the order and then it went down hill. Within an appropriate amount of time our soup and salad arrived but not separately, oddly both came at the same time. It was fine, we had the hot soup first and then the salad. The soup had no flavor and the salad dressing was watered down.
And then nothing. Nothing for 45 minutes.
We sat at the table waiting for a chef for 45 minutes! Upon inquiry, the response twice was "oh, he's coming". Finally he showed up to cook and forgot to scramble eggs to put in the fried rice! When I asked, he showed me a bowl with eggshells that had to be from the prior table and told me he put them in! I had no patience to argue.
Then he cooked the entire meal of the 4 individuals also seated at our table and after they were served, he cooked our meal. He served our shrimp appetizer along with our main meal, my husband had scallops and I had filet, which he ruined. I think he forgot that he had already put salt on the meat and salted it again before I could stop him. The meat was inedible.
I tried to speak with a manager but none was to be found. I paid the bill and left. It was a terrible experience and frankly, I deserve a free meal. By the way, their prices have skyrocketed.
Erin is hands down the best chef we have ever had at any Benihana anywhere. He made it so fun for the whole table and the next table too! Absolutely delicious food. What a great night!! Can't wait to have Erin cook for us again!
Lovely service! Amazing food! Definitely would recommend!
Great experience and our chef was superb (Erwin).
We have visited this Benihana's twice and both times have been disappointed. We waited over an hour for our chef to arrive. He was exhausted and not particularly interested in putting on a show which is half the reason we go. Food was great once we finally got it. Albeit served in a very bizarre order.
Restaurant is in dire need of additional help. From reception to the waiting at the table. Lack of staff hurts experience. Our chef was good and had great interaction but the service made my experience less then tasteful.
The food was great. The problem was having a reservation for 8pm and not getting a chef to prepare the meal until 11PM. By the time we had dinner it was around 11:30pm. They had ridiculously overbooked for having only 3 chefs on staff. I had to complain to even get water or drinks 25 minutes after we sat. It seems that business has picked up but they don’t want to hire sufficient staff. So either limit the number of reservations being given or hire more chefs.
Our reservation was at 8:45 and we got our food after 11pm.
Our chef was amazing. His show while cooking was great. He really put on a good show.
So glad to be able to eat at Benihana again! So fun to have the chef cook in front of us!!
A great experience with excellent food. I highly recommend.
Our chef Billy was great very funny and made our night great. The bad thing is that we had to wait a long time to get our chef in the table and it was barely any people. They didn’t have enough chefs and we went on a Monday imagine if it was weekend we would have waited more.
Service was fantastic Chef Billy did a really good job
Mother’s Day special
There is nothing corny about making a meal fun the food is always good our grill chef ninja was on Fuego we had a great time made new friends gained 10 lbs
My cook and server was FANTASTIC
Thank you so much
I will never come back to this location again! I had a 8:45pm reservation, long story short by 10:40pm we were at the table with no food. I asked the manager what is the hold up with the chef? I was told they were short on chefs🥴 If that was the case why wasn’t that important detail not communicated with the customers? Needless to say communication is key!
Had a 6:15 reservation but had to settle for takeout! Arrived a little after 6 pm and was seated at 6:20 or so. Received soup, salad, and drink fairly quickly. However, a different waitress stopped at our table around 7:20 to ask us if everything was ok. We told her we were still waiting on dinner. The chef came out 10 to 12 mins later we informed him we had to pick up our daughter at ballet by 8. He said he could have our meal ready in 20 mins or so. We informed him that left no time for eating it too. We had it to go! The waitress did bring me an ice cream for my birthday!
At this benihana they do not cook for you at the table. This makes the experience not worth it. Waited 30min past the reservation time, just to be seated and told that the cooks will not be cooking for you. Took 15.min after being seated to be told that and asked to order drinks.
Gone way downhill. Server was new and not ready to be waiting tables. Didn’t know the menu at all, took 20 minutes to deliver water, another 20 to deliver drinks, was never visible yet only had two tables. The manager was good and tried her best to make things better but it was a bad experience all around. Food overcooked too.
Not the full Benihana experience but the same high cost. Good is mediocre. Will try the small restaurants located in the Japan Center that are much more affordable and the food looks GREAT!
We visited on May 2, 2021. The ambience was dated and felt like a cold cafeteria. The service was horrific as it took a half hour in an empty restaurant to be seated. It took an hour to obtain one drink and we were never asked if we wanted another. It was a half hour between courses and our meal went on from 7pm to 10pm as everyone at the few tables in the empty restaurant waited for food staring at each other with dirty dishes in front of them. The servings were sparse and overly salted. The lights were up high and there was no ambience. It was also freezing cold and felt sterile. We were there for my son's 16th birthday but everyone was restless and could not wait to leave. It was a very bad dining experience. There was no management as the waitstaff stood chatting and no one was being properly serviced. It was a bad choice. Go elsewhere. This establishment needs new management and a well trained waitstaff.
They wouldn’t cook the food at our table
