Benihana - San Francisco Ratings and Reviews
We had a very inattentive waitress. She did not bring us the hot green tea and the dipping sauces that were promised in the menu. We didn’t realize this until halfway through the meal. No wonder the vegetables and the Benihana shrimp appetizer tasted bland. Our waitress was no where to be found. I had to get out of my seat to track down another waitress to ask for the dipping sauces. Very frustrating.
We made reservations at 6PM and were sat with other people who had reservations at 630PM. We did not receive our food until 7PM. We were with a child, which did not make it a great experience. The host/hostess we very unorganized and not pleasant. I would not recommend this restaurant!!
We stopped in as the restaurant was near our hotel. The start was delayed due to another guests family members who arrived late. The food was good and the chef was engaging. Being Halloween night and the world series on, the atmosphere was fun and friendly.
Me and my family visit Benihanas every year for one of our Birthdays & usually it's amazing & keeps us coming back, this time we were disappointed, the food was not as good, there was eggshell in my rice, the cook only did one trick as well as he kept dropping utensils, I didn't want to complain when we were there because other people at the table & I didn't want to embarrass anyone. Overall this go around was awful & we travel 3 hrs to attend this Benihanas.
Lunch is a good value with fried rice included! I was there on Sunday for lunch with my family and booked their first seating at noon. I recommend the place but just don’t book for noon reservation if you are in a hurry or want to eat right away. it seems the staff / chefs all have a slow/late start. You tend to wait much longer.
The staff were very unorganized and rude. They were very disrespectful and full of attitude. We were visiting SF and had taken an Uber, we were not familiar with the city so we stayed out of hunger. Even though we had a reservation, we were acknowledged and seated 30 minutes later. It was extremely noisey ( definetly a kid friendly place) and dirty, there was food and trash all over the floor in the dining room. Everything was chaotic. Our chef was friendly, the food completely flavorless. I don't mind paying for pricey food if it is worth it. I was served a $5 drive through meal for $88! For 2 people...not including drinks. We didn't even get a show out of it. My friend and I were placed at a table with another family for an 8 year olds birthday party. Not the most exciting place for our fun night out in San Francisco. Definetly will not recommend in the future.
Bad hostess experience. We were on time for our reservation, but for some reason the next 3 people who walked in were seated ahead of us. We waited 20 minutes just for our drink orders to be taken. Our chef made the experience worth it, but we came for a 9 year old birthday party. They brought his ice cream out with an unlit candle while he was in the bathroom and didn't even sing to him (a big part of the Benihana bday experience) and we had no Polaroid to capture his utter disappointment. Next time, we'll find somewhere else to celebrate!
This place used to be great and after moving to Santa Rosa I haven’t been able to eat here that much. After dealing with the wildfires & working 13 hours shifts, I thought I’d give my family a break from the chaos for some good food and unfortunately this place has gone down hill, customer service was terrible. It was terrible at the bar and the table. I asked to speak to a manager and no manager ever came to talk to me. This experience was definitely not worth $130.
Great fun, as teppanyaki always is. The location has plenty of parking so there is no worry about parking in the city. The lunch menu is not too expensive. The atmosphere is fun, as the teppanyaki chef tries to entertain you. Nothing different from any other Benihana worldwide. The chicken rice is great (USD 1 extra), I would recommend that.
We love benihana. They called to confirm reservations which we scheduled for 930pm they were able to move us up to 7pm which was fabulous. Everyone was friendly. Great experience. We actually came a few weeks ago with family from out of town and Nina was so awesome. You didn’t have any tables when I looked online but when we came in Nina squeezed us in. It really was so nice of her so generous. She went above and beyond to accommodate us and I greatly appreciated that. She’s usually working when we go in there and she’s always got a smile on her face. Nina thank you for being you -you really made me and my families night so soecial. Appreciate it.
This place was horrible. The waitor was extremely rude. She sighed and rolled her eyes at everything we asked or told her. She only came to our table if we waved down someone to get her. AND to top it off, the manager was horrible too. The food was bad as well. And they are very cheap.
Had the Hibachi special. Steak was cooked well. I asked for medium. It was tender and tasty. If you're looking for an entertaining dining experience that has good food, this is a good place to go. Especially if you have guests. Not a date place or a place to have a good conversation as the noise levels were high. Service was great. Friendly employees.
Benihana is a very popular place for birthdays, especially because you can get $30 off your dinner if you've signed up for their Chef's Table mailing list. I've been here several times and the food is always solid. The lunch specials are especially well worth the value.
When I checked in with a hostess, he deleted my reservation by mistake and told me that he reinstated it but obviously he did not...since I received an email from OpenTable for missing the reservation.
The waitress was argumentative when asking about the menu. She also got me a wrong drink and never apologized.
I'm not impressed with their service at Benihana japan town. Not going back again
